52 Layouts Step-by-Step #15 King & Queen of the Castle

Friday 14 September 2012

What a rubbish day yesterday. Car accident (not my fault) then several hours on the phone sorting out insurance then 3.5 hours on the motorway due to a road closure when I collected Sophie from my mums. Totally pants day, I'm writing it off and going to try to forget it ever happened.

So to that end, let's move onto this week's installment of 52 Layouts Step by Step. Here's what you need to join in:
3 sheets of patterned paper
There is a sheet of card and another smaller piece pictured but I didn't actually use them in the end.
3 landscape 6x4 photos
Die cut shapes
Brads
Alphabets - small and large

Step 1
Choose a background and ink the edges.

Step 2
Cut patterned paper to 3x11" and ink the edges. Position onto layout but do not stick.
Step 3
Cut another patterned paper to 6 3/4 x 12". Again ink the edges and position onto the layout but do not stick.

Step 4
Stick three 6x4 photos onto the wide strip just cut, anchoring them towards the right edge.

Step 5
Cut another strip 1x12" and cut one edge using a decorative border punch. Once cut ink the edges and then slot under the photo mount but do not stick it just yet, just position it in place.

Step 6
Mark with a pencil dot, the corner where the first patterned paper strip joins with the photo mount, then remove everything from the background sheet. Using a mist, spray coordinating ink at the pencil dot, aiming towards the top right corner of the background, then randomly splatter some additional ink spots. Once dry you can then stick everything onto the layout.

Step 7
Take a couple of nested die cut shapes, layer the smaller one onto the bigger one and stick, then chop of the bottom edge so it is straight and add to layout.

Step 8
Add a title.

Step 9
Write in your journaling and add a subtitle if desired.

Step 10
Arrange your brads in various places across the layout and then you're all done. I think it could actually do with some trims or ribbons under the journaling block so please go ahead and add something there if you agree.

Full view of the finished layout.

Next week you will need:
Three patterned papers
I've got 3 different coloured card pictured but I probably won't use any or perhaps only one.
6x4 portrait photos
Small alphabet - maybe a large one too
bakers twine
and I'm thinking I'll need some extra embellishments here, maybe some border stickers and some buttons?

Thanks for looking and link your work below if you join in!
