It's week 26 of the 52 Layouts series which means I'm half way through!
To join in this week you will need:
Three patterned papers
One piece of cardstock
A 6x4 landscape photo and another smaller portrait photo capable of being trimmed to 2.75x4"
Alphabet stickers large & small
a couple of different trims
Some embellishments - I've gone for a glittery leaf, an Ornate Plate and a button.
Step 1
Choose a background and gut a piece from the centre 6.5 x 4.5".
Step 2
Cut cardstock to 10.25" square and stick to the centre of the background paper.
Step 3
Cut patterned paper to 10" square and stick down.
Step 4
Cut a strip of patterned paper to 5.5x10" and stick to the right of the layout.
Step 5
Add a trim down the centre of the layout.
Step 6
Mount a 6x4" photo onto patterned paper 6.5x4.5" (the piece the was gutted from the centre of the background paper) and stick to layout but do not stick the top edge as this will form a pocket.
Step 7 GROSS PHOTO ALERT, LOOK AWAY NOW IF SQUEAMISH!!
Cut a portrait photo down to 2.75x4" and mount onto patterned paper 3 x 4.75". Cut the top into a tag shape. The back of my tag needed decorating too as the pattern was very bold as I wouldn't have been able to write in any journaling so I cut another tag shape and stuck it to the back then added some cream card and a decorative strip on the right side. Cut a hole in the top of the tag and tie through some trim. Then insert the tag into the pocket behind the photo.
Step 8
Add a title.
Step 9
Add some embellishments.
Step 10
Write in your subtitle and journaling.
And here is the layout all finished!
Sorry for the gross photo - that's why it's hidden in a pocket! Hope you enjoy joining in!
Kit Release: November Week 4 'Pomegranate'
Wednesday 28 November 2012
Morning All
This week's kit release features some of the totally gorgeous 'Tigerlilly range by Kaisercraft:
The kit contains:
3 x Tigerlily patterned papers
2 x coordinating cardstock
Die cut Tigerlily 'Collectables.
My first layout makes use of one of the patterned papers as the background together with a few strips of the others to make a feature behind the photo. I've used one of the word collectables as my title.
My second layout uses cardstock as the background and I've used as many of the collectables as was suitable for my layout. There are still loads left though! I've also used alphabet stickers leftover from a previous kit.
Kirei has gone less pink than me and focused more on the orange tones in the papers and collectables and she's added a title from her own stash. Check out her blog for more details on how she made it.
This kit costs just £5.90 and it can be purchased HERE.

Only Scraps Allowed - Border Control
Tuesday 27 November 2012
This week's Only Scraps Allowed challenge is called 'Border Control' - interpret this any way you like...use border punches, use something a bit different as a border, create a border around your page or photos etc.
Here are the scraps I had this week:
and my layout:
I decided to create a fancy border at the bottom of my photo using a border sticker that I think came free with a magazine (and nearly got chucked out!) and some trim that I cut up into individual circles and squashed together a bit.
My mum bought be these fantastic scrapbooking stickers from the states and I've never had any reason to use them before but was delighted to finally scrap a photo of us scrapbooking - perfect! There are lots more in the pack but this one was most apt to this photo.
So get creating: to join in just simply create a layout using only paper scraps (one full sheet allowed for the background and add any embellishments you like) and incorporate 'border control' into your layout.
Happy scrapping!

Sketch Saturday - Pink Christmas
Saturday 24 November 2012
Morning Sketchers!
I turned 30 yesterday so today I am officially a bit depressed! Birthday is over. 20s are over. But on the plus side we're out for dinner with friends tonight so that will be fun (then back to hopefully see Rylan or Christopher voted out of the Xfactor!) and we're going to see the Harry Potter studio tour on Monday which I am SO excited about!
Anyway, enough about me, this week's Sketch Saturday sketch is another cracker:
and I've gone all Christmassey this week with my first Christmas card of the season. This card is huge: 8x8" so I had a lot of card to fill. The tree is stamped then re-stamped with glue and glitter added to give it a bit of sparkle.
I do these these large cards for family members and I always print the sentiments I need on my pc as I don't have stamps that say quite the right things and 'Merry Christmas' simply doesn't cut it for family for some reason!
This week's Sketch Saturday sketch is sponsored by the Craft Barn who are providing a prize so make sure you play along!
I'm going to enter this card in a few lovely challenges this week:
Scrap Creations - Winter
Loves Rubber Stamps - Use Ribbon
Try it On Tuesday: Christmas Sparkle
Crafty Creations: Christmas is Coming!

Kit Release: Butterfly Sky
Wednesday 21 November 2012
This week's kit release features some of the really bright and fun 'Hello Summer' range by Echo Park. This range is perfect for summery photos or holiday snaps, ideal for lifting the mood during these dark, cold and miserable wintery days!
The kit contains:
3 x Echo Park 'Hello Summer' patterned paper
1 x 'Hello Summer' element sticker sheet
2 x co-ordinating card.
My first layout is of our recent holiday to Barbados - loads of the stickers on the sticker sheet were absolutely perfect for the photo even though they aren't specifically holiday themed, they worked really well. I used leftover alphabet stickers from the November week 1 kit earlier this month:
My second layout is a little more basic and I wanted to pick up on the red outfit in the photo so I used the Ruby Red Bazzill cardstock for my background and again made full use of the sticker sheet and alphabet stickers from previous kits.
Kirei's layout also uses holiday photos and I absolutely love her bunting at the top! See her blog for more details on how she made it.
