Dear Zoo | GoGo Getaway Moodbaord Challenge

 

Hey everyone! At GoGo Getaway Retreats, the Design Team each set a challenge to inspire our delegates. The challenge I set at October 2022 was a moodboard challenge.

The moodboard was mostly shades of greens and browns, features the phrase ‘Hakuna Matata’ and has a jungle or safari feel to it. I decided to use the Into the Wild collection by Simple Stories to scrap photos of my little boy being a zookeeper in a school performance.

I used a very busy patterned paper around the top of the layout featuring lots of animals. I then added to this with more ephemera animals, leaves and flowers. I also added a compass which featured on the moodboard, and even managed to add a small label sticker saying ‘Hakuna Matata’!

I cut out my photos and added them to the middle of the layout with my title that I made from a mixture of alphabet stickers and word ephemera!

I finished off with splatters of white paint and lots of pretty sequins!

Wild One | GoGo Getaway Cybercrop Challenge

 

Hi everyone! I have a new layout to share for GoGo Getaway today. I made this layout playing along with the November Cybercrop sketch challenge. I’ve used Into the Wild by Simple Stories to scrap a photo of my little boy with his face painted as a tiger.

For the big panel across the middle of the sketch I’ve used an orange patterned paper. I added another brown print behind it and tore and distressed all the edges. I used a 4x4 square journaling card as my title and then created a long line of embellishments – I used all the big cats I could find in the collection, as well as decorative brads, chipboard, sequins and Bramble Fox perspextives!

I hope you enjoyed the cybercrop at the weekend and enjoyed using the sketch!

Good Cheer | | Simple Stories | Mix & a-Mingle

 

Hi everyone! Here’s another layout for Simple Stories using the Mix & a-Mingle collection! I totally loved that dark star print paper and was determined to use a large part of it as my background.

I tore a strip off the side of the paper and distressed and curled the edge. I turned over the piece I had torn off to reveal the pattern on the other side and tucked that under the first tear. This created a strip of white space on the left side of the layout, and I loved the texture and dimension created by the torn and curled edges.

I added my photo to one of the Chipboard Frames, layered this onto the layout with a red circle of patterned paper, and added a title using the Foam Stickers. I also used the large wreath Chipboard Frame to tuck in on the left side of the layout.

I then added lots of cute embellishments. I’ve used the icons from the Foam Stickers, bits from the Bits & Pieces pack, Chipboard Stickers, Cardstock Stickers and Decorative Brads. I also added enamel dots. I love to use a mixture of embellishments on my layouts, different sizes and also different materials as this provides lots of interesting things to look at!

I hand wrote my journaling next to the torn strip and added lots of splatters of white paint!

Joy | Simple Stories | Mix & a-Mingle

Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Simple Stories, using the fabulously festive Mix & a-Mingle collection! I fell in love with this collection the moment I saw it, the colours are totally my thing and all the icons and words are super cute.

I used patterned paper for my background with a white border. I then cut three circles from three more patterned papers. I distressed the edges and added machine stitching around all three, with red thread.

I also used a couple of tags from the Tags paper. I think this sheet is almost as good as having another pack of embellishments! I cut these apart, distressed the edges and added twine.

I backed my photos and then began adding lots of embellishments. I loved the trees and Santa icons, plus I also added a bird, gingerbread cookies, snowflakes and coffee cups. Some are from the Bits & Pieces, and some are stickers from the Cardstock Stickers.

I also added decorative brads and my title which is from the Bits & Pieces pack. I also added pink enamel dots in a curved formation at the top left point of my circle.

I finished off with splatters of white paint and I handwrote my title around the edge of the large circle. Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping!

This Many | GoGo Shopaway | Jen Hadfield Stardust Collection

 

Hi everyone! Here is a new layout for GoGo Shopaway using the Jen Hadfield Stardust collection. This collection isn’t themed, but it does have some balloons in it so I picked out as many as I could and made a birthday layout.

I started by cutting a large circle from a white background, and backed it with balloon print paper and also added pretty pom pom trim around the edge.

I then created two clusters, one with my photo and more balloons and another one opposite with lots of pretty embellishments from Stardust.

I used the gorgeous Stardust Thickers to add my title ‘this many’ which didn’t show up as well as I’d hoped against the busy balloon print, so I outlined the letters with a black journaling pen which helped.

I finished off with sequins by Spiegelmom Scraps and a few Perspextives by Bramble Fox: the big ‘Celebrate’ in the middle which was the perfect colour match, and two blue and yellow cupcakes. I also added lots of splatters of silver paint and handwrote my journaling around the edge of the circle.

Seven is the Number... | For the Love of Pretty Paper Sketch

 

Hi everyone, here is a new layout I made playing along with the November sketch over on For the Love of Pretty Paper Facebook Group. The sketch had a border of tags so I’ve used the Simple Stories Family Fun collection to document photos of my daughter’s school play which was all about board games!

I made the border of tags, added my photos and then used the empty space in the middle for my title. I also embellished the tags with lots of little bits and pieces and some Bramble Fox perspextives too.

Amazing | Pinkfresh Studio Good Times

Well it's very rare that I make a layout just for fun, but it does occasionally happen! I made this layout playing along with the November Pinkfresh Studio challenge, which is to add texture to your layout.

I fussy cut ALL the leaves from a sheet of Good Times paper, folded and curled every one and added them to my layout around a circular frame. Most are raised on foam pads to give them extra dimension.

I love how this layout turned out and it was so lovely to make a layout just for fun! The Pinkfresh Studio Good Times collection is available at GoGo Shopaway.

Fun Ahoy | GoGo Shopaway | Jen Hadfield Stardust

Hi everyone! Here is a new layout and video for GoGo Shopaway using the Jen Hadfield Stardust Collection.

I loved the wavy side of the Stardust Lucky Charm paper. It has a pretty pink rainbow print on one side and these waves on the other. It pained me not to use the rainbows…perhaps I’ll have to get myself a second sheet!

I cut the waves apart, distressed the edges and stuck them back together again on a white background. I added my photo together with lots of bits from the Foam Phrase Thickers – these are great for extra embellishments as well as words and titles.

I also used one of the rosette stickers – I love that there is a whole pack of pre-made rosettes in this collection as I LOVE rosettes! I then added more embellishments from the Stardust Ephemera, Foam Phrase Thickers, Sticker Book and the Enamel Shapes, in a colour-on-colour fashion. I also added some Spiegelmom Scraps sequins and Perspextives by Bramble Fox: the Fun Ahoy title as well as the little passport and pink camera!

I finished off with lots of splatters of white paint around my photo.
