Fun! Simple Stories Color Vibe

Tuesday, 27 September 2022

Hi everyone, I have a new layout for Simple Stories to share today using the Color Vibe Summer collection! I love the new products added to the Color Vibe range, they are so versatile and easy to slot in with any existing collection but also great fun to use on their own too!

I used a white background so that the colours from the Summer collection would really pop out against it. I focused mostly on the Flower Bits pack and spent a few minutes sorting the whole pack out into piles. I sorted them into colour and then sorted them by size. I layered a smaller one onto each big one raised with a foam pad, which gave each flower lots of dimension. I also pinched all the petals to make them look even better!

I then arranged the layered flowers onto the white background together with my photo. I wanted my photo to be growing out of the flowers, so it is surrounded! I arranged the flowers in strips of colour, starting with the biggest flowers first and then slotting in the smaller ones. I ended up with a slightly diagonal design with colour blocked areas of flowers – I love it!

Once all my flowers were in place I began adding more things to my layout. I added buttons from the Summer Color Vibe collection, which I tied through with coordinating thread. I tied bows in some and left the rest bare. I also added a few Chipboard Bits behind my photo – a couple of colour coordinating frames. I also added a number of Chipboard Bits hearts too, which I stuck amongst the flowers using foam pads.

I added a title using Color Vibe Foam Alpha Stickers in Yellow and then I finished off the layout with enamel dots in the centres of the flowers and a few splatters of white paint!
This layout was so fun to create, I love the colour blocking effect so much!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing this layout and happy scrapping

Pumpkin Patch | Simple Stories | Harvest Market

Monday, 19 September 2022

Hey everyone! Here is a new layout using Harvest Market by Simple Stories! I’m absolutely in love with this Autumn collection, the colours are just perfect and I adore all the little icons and pumpkins!

I knew I wanted to use lots of those gorgeous patterns on this layout so I selected seven from the 6x8” Paper Pad and cut these down to 6x6” squares. I distressed the edges of each one and also machine stitched around each one. I then layered them together, offsetting the corners as I went.

Before sticking down my layered squares, I created a mixed media background on a sheet of white card. I used three colours of ink and applied ink to the background. I also used the Harvest Market Stencil and also added lots of splatters. When I then placed the layered papers on top of this, it provides a circular ‘glow’ around the papers.

I cut my photo into a circle shape and added it to one of the beautiful Chipboard Frames. My photo wasn’t big enough to fit the frame so I layered it with another paper – this was perfect. I put my photo in the middle, used a Foam Sticker ‘Pumpkin Patch’ for my title and added lots of ephemera pieces from the Bits & Pieces Pack. I also added Decorative Brads and Enamel Dots!

I finished off with splatters of white paint and I’m so happy with how this one turned out!

Happy scrapping

Sweet | Lottie Loves Paper | Storyteller

Friday, 16 September 2022

Hi everyone, I have another layout to share for Lottie Loves Paper, using the Storyteller Collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I’ve used a rainbow cut file by Peartree Cutfiles and have used papers from the 6x8 Paper Stack to back fill it.

I added Floral Ephemera to the rainbow I three places (following the flowers on the cut file) and also added some Distress Oxides ink under each of the clusters. I used a Bramble Fox stencil too. I also added Chipboard Stickers, some wooden buttons and some Ephemera pieces too.

I used one of the Foam Title stickers for my title which I arched across the rainbow and I used a few Bramble Fox Perspextives. I used this everyday photo to tell a cute story of the relationship between me and my little boy…he says the most adorable things! It’s nice to get these little things documented.

I finished off with splatters of white paint and a few sequins. I hope you’ve enjoyed this layout and thanks so much for joining me today. Happy scrapping!

Wicked | Simple Stories | Simple Vintage October 31st

Tuesday, 13 September 2022

Hey everyone! Here is a spooky new layout for Simple Stories using Simple Vintage October 31st! This collection is obviously Halloween themed and I LOVE Halloween, so I had great fun diving into all the SV October 31st products!

I chose a light background printed with a large doily and spiderweb cluster at the top. I trimmed it down and distressed the edges. I also layered it with another patterned paper, then set these layers together onto a sheet of black Simple Vintage Basics paper.

I mounted my photo on black & white gingham paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad and arranged these onto the layout together with a chipboard frame. The frame wasn’t quite the right size for my photos but I was determined to use it anyway so I cut it in half and used on half for each photo – this worked so well!

I added my title which is one of the Foam Stickers and I then embellished the layout using Chipboard Stickers, Foam Stickers, Bits & Pieces and Decorative Brads, creating one large cluster on the right of the photos and some other smaller clusters too.

I finished off with splatters of black acrylic paint! I had such fun making this layout and I can’t wait to use more of this collection!
Happy scrapping

Year Six Leavers | Lottie Loves Paper | Storyteller

Friday, 9 September 2022

Hi everyone! Here is a new layout for Lottie Loves Paper using the lovely Cocoa Vanilla Studio Storyteller collection. I decided to use the paper with the plus signs on for my background but couldn’t make the diagonal design work, so I chopped the top off and replaced it with a strip of the bold striped paper!

I made a cut file saying ‘leavers’ which I backfilled with papers from the 6x8 Paper stack and I added this to the colourful strip. I added my photo just below but anchored to the left of the layout. I used a Bramble Fox Stencil to create a starburst effect coming from the photo, and then clustered all my embellishments over to the left of the photo, cascading down towards the bottom. I used a mixture of Chipboard, Floral Ephemera, regular Ephemera and wooden buttons within this cluster.

I added a few Bramble Fox perspextives: lots of stars nestled amongst the flowers and I finished off with splatters of white paint and sequins.

Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope you have enjoyed this layout! Happy scrapping

Year 4 | For the Love of Pretty Paper Sketch

Saturday, 3 September 2022

Hey everyone, I’m playing along with the For the Love of Pretty Paper September Sketch today. I’ve made a school themed layout, because it’s September! Plus I have school photos to scrap.

I’ve been stashbusting a slightly older collection called School Life by Simple Stories. I adapted the sketch to suit my photo which was a 7x5 landscape photo instead of the two smaller portrait photos represented on the sketch.

I used a yellow background and used a big strip of patterned paper across the layout.  I could never use a big bold patterned paper like this as a background, but I loved all those colourful letters, so it was great to use a large strip of it in this way.

I added clusters around the photo and turned the photo into a pocket to hold my journaling. I also added some stencilling (stencil by Bramble Fox) as I thought the yellow background looked a bit plain and needed a little something extra!

I enjoyed using this sketch and I hope it will inspire you to make something today!

Happy scrapping

Time Flies | Lottie Loves Paper | Storyteller Collection

Friday, 2 September 2022

Hey everyone, here is a new layout for Lottie Loves Paper using the Storyteller collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I’ve used two photos for this layout: my daughter’s first day of Reception class and her last day of Year 6, so I wanted the layout to have a ‘half & half’ design. I used that beautiful blue paper from the Storyteller on one side of the layout and left the other half white.

I positioned the two photos on the two different halves of the layout and added the title Time Flies which is a Perspextive by Bramble Fox.

I embellished the layout with a cluster on each side of the photos. I used the gorgeous Floral Ephemera as well as the usual Ephemera. I also used Chipboard Stickers – I love that book with flowers growing from it, this seemed so perfect for these photos. I added a few label stickers, some of the Wooden Buttons and I also added the words ‘first day’ and ‘last day’ with small alphabet stickers.

I finished off with my journaling, splatters of white paint and lots of pretty sequins.
Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping!
