Sharing Life Together | Hip Kit Club | Mixed Media Monday using December 2020 Kits

Wednesday 30 December 2020

Hi everyone, I have a new layout to share today for Hip Kit Club. I'm using the December kits which can be found on the Hip Kit Club website here. I've also used an exclusive Subscriber cut file called 'Snowflakes' which you can find on the November downloads tab.

Today is Mixed Media Monday so I am focussing on the December Color Kit. I'm so delighted to see Shimmerz Paints colors in the Color Kit! We have three colours: Shimmerz Christmas Cheer, Inklingz Oakie Bear Blue and Inklingz Naughty or Nice. I choose to use the blue and the red colours.

I started off by using Oakie Bear Blue and applied this to my Marshmallow background using the packaging technique. I then added the Naughty or Nice colour in the same way. I added splatters of both colours.

I cut nine snowflakes out of marshmallow card and coloured them in with the same coloured paints I'd used for my background. Once dry I then applied the Nuvo Glimmer Paste from the November Color Kit over them so they were super glittery!

I fussy cut stars from one of the exclusive patterned papers and handstitched in the pink details using pink thread. I added snowflake stamps using the December Stamp Kit onto my background too.

I arranged the fussy cut stars and my circular photo onto my background and added the 'sharing life together' title which was a piece of ephemera that I mounted onto some grey card to help it stand out against the mixed media background.

I added some embellishments including one of the gorgeous foiled bows some ephemera hearts and some puffy stars - these kits have my heart!

Thanks so much for joining me today and I hope you enjoy the layout and video.

Happy scrapping

December Album Foundation Pages 17-18 | Lottie Loves Paper

Tuesday 29 December 2020

Hi everyone, me again with another two foundation pages for my December Album to share for Lottie Loves Paper. I'm using a mixture of two collections: Hey Santa by Crate Paper and Merry & Bright by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

Page 17 was straightforward. I started with a white cardstock background and created a large pocket using that gorgeous Speciality Vellum from the Hey Santa collection. I simply cut a piece at an angle and then stitched around the edges of the full page - this left the top edge of the pocket open so I could slot things in. I've added three large tags: two are from a Hey Santa cut apart sheet, one is plain white that I cut myself and then there are two journaling cards from the Hey Santa ephemera. I haven't turned these into tags, they are just slotted in the pocket. Sometimes the big items in ephemera can be challenging to use but using them in this way is super easy. I can add photos or journaling to both the front and the backs if I want to or just stick to the backs, keeping the fronts pretty! I ditched the digital number I made for this page and went for a large white number cut on my Silhouette. I was attempting to re-create the large felt number that Ali Edwards sold this year as part of her DD kits. I didn't have those and thought they would be fun to recreate. So I cut large numbers on my machine out of white card, created an internal offset and set that internal line to 'dashed'. This gave me a stitching template to follow for the inside of the numbers. I then stitched these using gold thread. They aren't quite the same but they aren't bad and were definitely fun to make.

For page 18 I printed a cut file from Peartree Cut Files. I then used it as a template. I fixed it over a white card background and then pierced holes in the points of each star. I removed the template then stitched the stars in red embroidery floss. I love how it turned out! I then cut the internal stars out of glitter paper and stuck those in. I added my number and a few embellishments, including an elf sticker from Hey Santa who looks like he is reaching up to put a decoration on a tree. I also added some white stars to my white background to give it a bit of texture.

Thanks so much for joining me today and I hope you enjoyed these layouts and the video.

Happy scrapping

Ho Ho Ho Happy | Hip Kit Club Color Challenge

Sunday 27 December 2020

Hi everyone, MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I have a new layout to share today for Hip Kit Club. I’m using the November 2020 Hip Kits which you can find on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/november-2020. I’m also playing along with this week’s challenge which is a Color Challenge. The colours are: pink, red and blue. You can play along with the challenge over on the Hip Kit Club Group on Facebook.

I started off with a white background and three stars that I had cut using metal dies. I cut these from one of the patterned papers. I inked the edges of these with red ink so they showed up against the white background. I fussy cut a row of houses from another of the patterned papers and added this across my layout horizontally. I stitched this in place using my sewing machine but I raised the tops of the houses on foam pads to give them some dimension. I also machine stitched through the three stars.

I added my photo and that cute Santa who is reaching out to give a gift – I positioned him so he looked like he was giving the gift to my children in the photo!

I added lots more embellishments and my title ‘ho ho ho HAPPY’ from the puffy phrase stickers and some sequins.

I then added a few splatters of Lindy’s Magicals from the November Color Kit called ‘Rudolph’s Nose Red’ and then created a border for my layout using Shimmering Rose Nuvo Crystal Drops – I love how this turned out!

Thank you so much for joining me today and have fun playing along with the Color Challenge.

Happy scrapping
