Sketch Saturday - another 2nd Birthday Card!

Saturday 27 April 2013

We have yet another fantastic sketch for you this week over at Sketch Saturday:
and I thought I'd make yet another 2nd birthday card for a boy so I went with this cute teddy bear image from Stamp Fairy and went for bright fun papers by Stampin Up. The stars are punched, as is the large scallop border (what do you think, are these scallops too big for a card and better for scrapbooking perhaps?) and I added some nice wide stitched ribbon to finish off.

This week's Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Stamp Fairy who have loads of great digi images and are offering a $10 prize to this week's winner - good luck!

Kit Release: April 4 'Filigree'

Wednesday 24 April 2013

Morning morning

This week's kit features some of the really different 'Indie Chic' range by My Mind's Eye. I love this range, with all the different colours in it and awesome patterns it makes for layouts that are different from all the other things I've made before:
The kit contains:
4 x Indie Chic patterned papers
2 x coordinating cardstock
crochet flower trim
black ric rac

My first layout focuses on the pink/purple colours in the papers and I've used photos of Professor Umbridge's office and her outfits. Even though these papers aren't overly pink and Professor Umbridge is known for wearing pink, I think it works well. At the studio tour it explained that the more sinister Professor Umbridge got throughout the films, her outfits gradually became darker so the purple hues in the papers plus the black ricrac, I think, make for a more sinister shade of pink which is perfect for the content of the photos!!

My second layout is a totally different colour palette altogether! I've gone for the more subtle yellows and oranges in the papers and used photos of the great hall. The stone cardstock and the colours of these papers go really well with the stone walls in the photos. I have added in a small amount of gold washi tape and also added a title using alphabet stickers leftover from a previous kit.

Here is Kirei's layout - check out her blog for more details on how she made it!

This week's kit costs £7.80 and can e purchased HERE and you can subscribe in the same place.

Sketch Saturday - Happiest Wishes on your 2nd Birthday!

Saturday 20 April 2013

Happy Saturday peeps!

We have another fabulous sketch for you this week over at Sketch Saturday:
I've made another 2nd birthday card this week and have used a Bugaboo image, a very cute little monster! I've stamped '2' in his balloon and used robot paper in the background (My Mind's Eye 'Boy Crazy') and added some twine and some brads. Perfect!

This week's Sketch Saturday sketch is sponsored by Bugaboo who have the most amazing range of fun stamps and are offering a HUGE prize to this week's winner so make sure you join in!

Kit Release: April 3 'Dress Code'

Wednesday 17 April 2013

This week's kit contains some of the awesome American Crafts Amy Tangerine 'Ready Set Go' collection. I am in love with the printed kraft cardstck as well as the muted colours in the collection:
This week's kit contains:
3 x 'Ready Set Go' papers one of which is the printed kraft specialty paper
2 x coordinating cardstock
a few decorative mini wooden pegs

My first layout used quite a lot of the patterned papers. I mounted the specialty kraft cardstock onto normal kraft cardstock, layered up some patterned papers towards the bottom and added three photos. The title uses small alphabet stickers from my stash but is on a small journaling card made from the papers and attached with the wooden pegs - this gives it a really dimensional look.

My second layout uses far less papers! I've used one as the background and divided it almost into two halves using the spotty paper and one of the manufacturer's strips. Other than that, I've used just a couple of other small pieces of leftover patterned paper to create a little bit of interest around my photo and added a title using stickers from my stash. I love the design on the bottom right corner of the paper so made sure I didn't cover any of that up and made a feature of it:

Here is Kirei's layout - check out her blog for more details on how she made it!

This week's kit costs £5.80 and can be purchased HERE. Also check out the details about my monthly subscription for a better deal and so that you never miss a kit!

Sketch Saturday - a new Baby Girl!

Saturday 13 April 2013

Morning all

We have another brilliant sketch for you this week over at Sketch Saturday:

Now there wasn't too much to this sketch so that gave me a bit of scope for artistic license which I hope paid off! My friend has just had a little girl: Evie (I'm very jealous as I wanted another girl!!) which gave me an excuse to go all pink and glittery (yey!). I used one of my favourite images from Lili of the Valley and pulled out all my baby girl papers and went to town! The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley too.

So congratulations to Jenny on the safe arrival of baby Evie - two girls hey, your house will be pink forever more! Matt you may as well move out now!

This week's Sketch Saturday sketch is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp who are offering a prize to pop on over and join in.

March 2013 Documented!

Thursday 11 April 2013

First things first...I've had the baby! He's called Max Spencer Rowland and he arrived by semi-emergency c-section on Tuesday 2nd April and he weighed 6lb 7oz. He was only 3 weeks early and was therefore considered full term. He had to spend a few hours in special care to clear his lungs of some gunk but otherwise he is perfect and I got to take him home straight away - a very different experience all round to that of Sophie!  Here is the little chappie posing for his first passport photo!

Moving on to March's Document layouts now: here is the March introduction layout. The envelope included in this month's kit is a large one but even so I had a couple of cards that were still too big for it so I've used last month's trick and made a huge pocket on the page to hide them in. I've used just one 6x4 portrait photo:

This is the first of the divided layouts. The page protector for this month consists of six 6x4 portrait pockets. Most of my photos for all these pockets started off a landscape 6x4 photos which I've trimmed down so don't worry too much about photo orientation.

Close up of a couple of the individual pockets:

Second divided layout (on the reverse of the first).

and a close up of a couple of the divided pockets:

Here is an example of this month's numbers:

and finally March's Focus Layout. I've used two portrait 6x4 photos and one landscape 6x4 photo which I've trimmed down to 5.5x4".

See those who can make it on Saturday 20th April about 9.45am for 10am start!

Kit Release: April 2 'Silk'

Wednesday 10 April 2013

Morning all

This week's kit contains some of the absolutely gorgeous Lost & Found 3 'Oliver' range by My Mind's Eye. L&F has been such a popular range that it has been brought out in different designs many times over - I think it's the glitter, lush!!
The kit contains:
2 x Lost & Found 'Oliver' patterned papers
1 x My Mind's Eye 'Indie Chic' patterned paper
2 x coordinating cardstock
L&F Oliver enamel dots.

It's a Harry Potter themed month for me I'm afraid as I'm still scrapping my photos from my visit back in November to the Harry Potter studio tour! For my first layout I used photos of the Goblet of Fire and the TriWizard Cup and golden egg. The colours in the photos went really well with the papers. Gold is a colour I usually struggle with so I thought I was going to have trouble finding photos to go with these papers but these went perfectly.  The background paper I used here was so nice and I didn't want to cover too much of it up so the layout itself is minimal which allows for the background paper to shine through. I added a title using alphabet stickers from my stash and hand wrote in my journaling in the golden journaling box that was already on the background:

My second layout is of all those little props from the films that were quite often crucial to storylines such as the Golden Snitch, Timeturner and Deluminator. I toyed with the idea of taking photos of them individually but I already had about 200 photos by that time so decided against it and that a group shot would do! I used up the remaining patterned paper, again embracing the gold as the background (given the Golden Snitch was in the photo) and added a title using alphabet stickers from my stash.

Here is Kirei's layout - check out her blog for more details on how she made it!

This week's kit costs £6.00 and can be purchased HERE and you can subscribe in the same place for a better monthly deal.
