Road Trip | Cocoa Vanilla Studio | Great Escape

Thursday 27 June 2024

Hey everyone! I have a new layout to share for Cocoa Vanilla Studio today using the Great Escape Collection. I opted to attempt a more minimal-style layout than my usual which is a bit out of my comfort zone because usually I like to use ALL the things,! But it was fun to try something different and I do love the result!

I began with two strips of patterned paper from the A5 paper stack. I trimmed a photo to match the width and stuck my photo to one of the strips – I was attempting to make it look like part of the design rather than a separate photo stuck on top, and I think I did achieve that.

I then created two areas of embellishments, made up of Floral Ephemera from the Heart & Home collection, and some Chipboard Stickers and Accessory Stickers from Great Escape. I added a ‘glow’ of green ink under my two embellishment clusters to add a bit of colour to the white background.

I also fussy cut some of the flags and added those to the layout. For my title, I opted to use one of the Puffy Title Stickers and I added that vertically along the paper strip.

I then added a third strip of patterned paper, a bit narrower than the others. This gave the effect of a completed central square on the layout and balanced out the design somewhat.

I then added a few small stars and some sequins and a few splatters of black paint.

This layout is a little different from my usual style, but I’m trying out something a bit different here as sometimes I feel that I do so much scrapbooking that I repeat the same designs over and over. It is great to try for something a bit different and I love the result!

Happy scrapping

Happy Travels | Bramble Fox

Saturday 22 June 2024

Travel and crafting, a perfect combination! For this layout for BrambleFox, I’ve combined a crafting paper collection, with travel Perspextives because we were travelling away for the weekend to visit Lisa Fonseca and Shara Crane and do some craft classes with them! What fun!

I have used the new Crafty Things collection by Simple Stories which was perfect for this layout. I’ve used ‘Happy Travels’ for my title which is from the July Fox Box, and the wooden camera, which is also from the July Fox Box. From a different set I’ve also used a mint Perspextive camera too, which I’ve tucked in behind the fussy cut embroidery hoops that are across the top of my layout.

I actually began the layout with stencilling using the plus signs stencil from the July Fox Box Plus, but I then covered most of it up – oops! I tucked rub-on flowers amongst the large cluster at the top too, and more rub-ons behind my photo.

This layout is a slightly different style to my usual – I’m trying something new and attempting to made less cluttered layouts, how did I do?

Happy and Crafty! I’m so happy to be playing with the Crafty Things collection! For this layout I cut apart the triangle paper and pieced it back together again onto a white background. It was fun to tuck Floral Bits and Bits & Pieces into the gaps! This is such a fun collection and so perfect to scrap all my crafty adventures!

Galaxy Far Far Away | Simple Stories Say Cheese Galaxy

Monday 17 June 2024

For this layout for Simple Stories, I have used the Say Cheese Galaxy collection to scrap two photos of me with a Stormtrooper and BB-8! I loved that black paper with all the lines on and went straight for that. I added more lines with long stitches of thread.

I then cut lots of stars from the different papers in the collection. I used a few different sizes of punch to do this.

I added my photos to the central point of the layout, then went a bit star-crazy, adding stars everywhere on the layout! I did them in colour sections. I then added to this with similar coloured Decorative Brads, and Enamel Dots too!

For my title I used a large ‘Galaxy’ sticker from the Cardstock Stickers and added smaller sub- titles from the Foam Stickers. I was so happy with how this layout turned out, it was super-fun to make!

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

I Don't Think So! | Simple Stories Say Cheese Magic

Well aren’t we being spoiled with all the new Say Cheese collections! For this layout I have used the Say Cheese Magic collection.

I had a photo of me with Mrs Incredible…now all mums are superheroes and I’m a mum, so I fully identify with Mrs Incredible! I decided it would be fun to re-create the Incredibles logo in Say Cheese papers! I started by printing a picture of the logo onto letter paper, and then I used this as a template to draw around and create the elements from different patterned papers. I added a sheet of Color Vibe paper in Tomato for the red outline, then used the black Say Cheese Magic paper for the middle, and a yellow gingham for the ‘i’ from the 6x8 Paper Pad.

Once the logo was assembled, I added hand stitching in coordinating colours around the outlines. I added a ‘glow’ of red ink behind where the logo would sit on my layout and then stuck it in place, raised up on foam pads! I love how it turned out!

I then added my photo and picked out embellishments in reds, yellows and blacks. Because the logo was so big I wanted to keep my embellishments fairly minimal so I just created two small clusters: one next to the photo and the other at the bottom left corner. I used a mixture of Chipboard Stickers, Bits & Pieces and Foam Stickers.

To create my title I used an Elastigirl quote from the movie: ‘leave the saving of the world to men?’ ‘I don’t think so’. I made this by printing the first part of the quote in a typewriter font just on my normal printer. The second part I made with the alpha stickers from the Say Cheese Magic Sticker Book, which I stuck onto strips, then cut into words. I could then position them easily and also raise them up on foam pads.

I finished off with Decorative Brads, and a few splatters of black paint. I also wrote my journaling around the edge of the logo.

This was such a fun layout to make!

You Make Me Smile | Cocoa Vanilla Studio | Storyteller

Thursday 13 June 2024

Hey everyone, here is a new layout and video for Cocoa Vanilla Studio using the Storyteller collection. I adored this collection when it came out a few years ago and I still love it now!

I have used a cut file for this layout – I don’t use cut files very often because I have a technical issue with my Silhouette machine but I have managed to cut this one! It is called ‘Geometric heart cut file’ and can be purchased and downloaded on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio website: https://cocoavanilla.com.au/Cut-Files-c161548809

I cut the cut file in white, and then back filled it using lots of patterns from the Storyteller A5 Paper Stack. I tried to stick to blues, greens and yellow patterns.

Once back filled, I placed my heart onto a white background. I added some areas of dark blue ink under the areas where my photo, title and embellishments would go. I then added lots of fussy cut flowers and Floral Ephemera and my title from the foam stickers ‘you make me smile’.

I also added a wooden button, some Chipboard Stickers and some phrase stickers from the Accessory Stickers.

I finished off with some black foam hearts, some little puffy hearts, handwritten journaling and some splatters of black paint.

I love how this layout turned out, it was lovely to use Storyteller again, and to use a cut file! I hope you like it too.

Summer Time | Bramble Fox

Wednesday 12 June 2024

Document those summer memories with the July Fox Box and new summer Perspextives! For this layout for Bramble Fox, I’ve used the Simple Stories Just Beachy Collection as well as lots of Bramble Fox Perspextives! I’ve used the ‘Summer time’ title from the July Fox Box, two adorable seagulls and a wooden sandcastle, also from the July Fox Box, and two new summer sets. From these I’ve used two ice creams that look good enough to eat, and a pink pair of flip flops.

I started this layout by framing my photo in a chipboard life-ring frame. I added lots of floral ephemera and some small square journaling cards. I added some stencilling under the photo frame using the July Fox Box Plus stencil – it has plus signs on which I thought was fun!

I made a border with patterned paper strips and added an embellishment cluster on the right side of the layout with more ephemera, more square journaling cards, a seagull Perspextive and my ‘summer time’ title, positioned vertically.

I finished off with small details like Decorative Brads, Enamel Dots and splatters of white paint!

I hope you like it and that it makes you think of summer!
