I See You | Hip Kit Club Scraplift Challenge | December 2020 Kits

Sunday 31 January 2021

Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Hip Kit Club. I've used the December 2020 Hip Kits which can be found on the Hip Kit Club website here. I'm also playing along with this week's Challenge which is a Scraplift challenge. We have a layout made by Missy Whidden to scraplift - how fun! You can play along with the challenges over on the Hip Kit Club Group on Facebook.

Missy's layout is on dark cardstock. It looks like she has applied gesso over the top and it has created a cross-hatch effect. This inspired me to use the beautiful blue checked paper in the December Main kit. I trimmed it down to approximately 10x10", distressed the edges and stuck it to a sheet of white cardstock. I then machine stitched through all the lines on the paper with silver thread - it makes it so pretty and sparkly!

I cut a circle using a mental die and added white pom pom trim around the outside with some pretty white tulle too. I then began creating the photo cluster and the cluster at the bottom of the layout like on Missy's layout. For these I used fussy cut snowflakes, as well as ephemera flowers and icons. I also added white puffy stickers.

I added my title using the silver alphabet stickers from the Main kit which I then stitched through with my sewing machine.

I finished off with my journaling and some white paint splatters, because Missy had used them on her layout!

Thank you so much for joining me today. I had so much fun creating this layout! Don't forget to play along with this week's challenge over on the Hip Kit Club Group on Facebook - there's a prize on offer.

Happy scrapping

You Bring the Sparkle Into My Life | Shimmerz Paints | January 2021 Color Kitz

Friday 29 January 2021

Hi everyone, here is a new layout I'm sharing for Shimmerz Paints today using their January 2021 Color Kitz. This kit is gorgeous and contains five colors of Shimmerz Paint: Snow Storm Vibez, I Love You Onyxly Inklingz, Good as Gold Inklingz and two new colors: Be Right Black Vibez and Star Bright Shimmerz.

I started off with a sheet of 12x12 marshmallow cardstock. I spritzed it with the Snow Storm Vibez to give it a shimmer all over, and set it aside to dry.

I cut the exclusive cut file 'you bring the Sparkle into my Life' out of white marshmallow cardstock. I also cut a backing piece for the word 'sparkle' from acetate - this is so I can create a 'fake' shaker pocket later. I then spent some time carefully painting the cut file with I love You Onyxly Inklingz. I gave it two coats.
I then painted a large area onto the background with Star Bright Shimmerz. This is a white gold paint that shimmers but also contains gold glitter - OMG this is the most amazing paint I have ever seen!! I painted a large area using a wide paintbrush. The aim was to create an area with this paint that the cut file could sit on. Once dry I also added Good as Gold Inklingz in three areas using the packaging technique and then sprayed the background in three places with Be Right Black Vibez.

When everything was dry I trimmed down my layout on two sides, added black pom pom trim and layered it onto a striped background paper. I then added my cut file to the layout with machine stitching. I cut lots of 1" squares of black patterned paper and positioned them randomly all over the layout! I added stars, acetate pieces and snowflakes to the layout as well as the three gorgeous Dotz that came with the Color Kitz. I also added an acrylic 'hello 2021' sub title by Bramble Fox.

Finally I moved onto my 'fake shaker' title. I applied Glossy Accents glue all over the word 'sparkle' then I set tiny silver star sequins (Spiegelmom Scraps) into the adhesive. I also sprinkled over a small amount of silver glitter.

Well! This is a bit of a different layout for me but I enjoyed making it and love how it turned out - sometimes it's fun to do something different!

Thanks so much for joining me today and don't forget that if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, enter my name in the comments and you will receive a freebie!
Happy scrapping

Oh Christmas Tree | Lottie Loves Paper | Cocoa Vanilla Studio Merry & Bright

Wednesday 27 January 2021

Hi everyone, here is a new layout to share for Lottie Loves Paper using the Merry & Bright collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

I have also played along with this week's sketch challenge. I love this sketch and decided to flip it entirely so that my photos were along the bottom edge rather than the top.

Instead of creating a line of embellishments as per the sketch, I have replaced that with a large Christmas tree cut file. I cut it from the lovely tree paper from Merry & Bright and then mounted it onto green paper (the reverse of the tree paper) to give it some definition. I added this to a white background which I trimmed down and mounted onto another sheet of patterned paper to give it a stripy border.

To represent the strips on the sketch I have created a horizontal line across the layout using tulle, two photos, a small square journaling card and embellishments.

For my title I have used the word 'Christmas' which was on a tag, with black Thickers above and below it so it reads 'oh Christmas Tree!' The Thickers are from The Avenue collection by Jen Hadfield.

I added die cut stars and wood veneer baubles to my large tree. I painted the wood with gold paint to make them shimmer. I also added gold splatters.

I finished off with my journaling, chipboard embellishments from Hey Santa and some gorgeous Bramble Fox red hearts.

Thank you so much for joining me today. Happy scrapping and enjoy the video.
