December Festivities | Hip Kit Club | Product Focus: Acetate and Chipboard

Friday 22 January 2021

Hi everyone, I have a new layout for Hip Kit Club to share today using the December kits, which can be found here.

My assignment today is to focus on the acetate and chipboard items in the kits. The acetate has silver foiled details as does some of the chipboard pieces - they are all so beautiful!

So I recently saw a sketch and layout by the super talented Jana McCarthy and even though I haven't followed the sketch today, I used it as a starting point: the spokes coming out from the middle - I couldn't get them out of my head so just decided to go for it! I drew pencil lines and pierced holes then stitched the lines in chain stitch. I love to use chain stitch for winter layouts as it reminds me of knitted jumpers!

I choose six colours of embroidery thread and stitched them from light to dark. I arrange two chipboard tags onto the layout together with my photo. I then began adding lots of embellishments around the photo coming out in a starburst/explosion effect. I kept the embellishments clustered sightly around the photo and made them more sparse towards the edges. I used lots of chipboard stickers and also puffy star stickers too.

I needed some smaller items too so added some sequins and puffy dots from the November 2020 kits too. I finished off with some silver thread and some splatters in Oakie Bear Blue and Naughty or Nice Inklinkz, both from the December 2020 Color Kit.

Thank you so much for joining me today

Happy scrapping

Niki xx
