'Pick Your Own' Mini Album | Hip Kit Club | October 2020 Kits

Monday 30 November 2020

Hey everyone! I have another mini album to share today, for Hip Kit Club using the October Kits. You can find the October kits on the Hip Kit Club website here.

I have also used a mixture of different cut files from the October Downloads, specifically Floral Pumpkin, Autumn Fun, Grateful, Leaf Wreath and Pumpkin Face.

To make the mini album box itself, I was inspired by the Accordion album cut file by Paige Evans. I didn't use it here but if you have a Silhouette and want a shortcut, definitely check out that cut file. I adapted this idea to suit what I wanted but the principle is the same. I took two strips of patterned paper and concertina folded them every 1/2 inch - these were the sides of the box. I then took another piece of the same patterned paper and cut a wide piece and scored it twice so I had a base and two ends. I secured the concertina sides between the two ends and put dividers in between each fold. I then added cut file pumpkins to the front and the back of the box. This style of mini book allows for the inserts to be really chunky, which is just what I like!

I then set about making all the little inserts for each of the pockets. I made three envelopes, a tag book bound with a book ring complete with paper tassel and paper bead, and several other cards make using the exclusive Hip Kit Club cut files.

This process video shows the basic box being made together with the inserts. I add all my photos and embellishments off screen and then towards the end of the video there is a flip through of the complete album including photos and journaling.

Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope you have enjoyed this Mini Album - it's my absolutely favourite one to date! Enjoy the process video below.

Happy scrapping

December Album Pages 5-6 and Pocket Insert | Lottie Loves Paper

Sunday 29 November 2020

Hey everyone, I have another couple of foundation pages of my December Album to share today for Lottie Loves Paper, using Crate Paper Hey Santa collection.

I like my albums to be interactive so page 6 is a layout without a page protector and I've created a fold out piece. I've added pom poms and a pocket containing a couple of tags. This will give me extra space for journaling and additional photos.

I've also created a little pocket insert. It is in a 4x6 page protector that is divided into six 2x2 pockets. I added pretty things from the Hey Santa Confetti pack into each one and added some sequins from my stash. Once full I stitched around each pocket on my sewing machine to trap everything inside each pocket. I also added a few stickers to the outside of the page protector.

Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope you've enjoyed these pages and the video.

Happy scrapping

YOU | Hip Kit Club | Main Kit Only October 2020 Kits

Saturday 28 November 2020

Hey everyone, here is a new layout and video for Hip Kit Club using the October kits. You can find the October kits on the Hip Kit Club website here.

My assignment today was to use the Main Kit only with the additional theme of Thanksgiving. We don't have Thanksgiving here in the UK so I have gone for 'grateful' instead. This layout features a layout of my complex little boy who I feel I understand better these days, and for that I am truly grateful.

Now this is my 6th assignment this month using the October kit and my main kit is quite depleted! I did however have a lot of the phrase Thickers still in the pack and therefore I decided to make a feature out of them. I took white card for my background and a piece of Simple Stories Cozy Days paper. I Tore off the right side and added the large piece to my white background. On the white section on the right of the layout I made my feature from the lovely gold phrase Thickers. I love how this turned out.

I added my photo within one of the Simple Stories Cozy Days chipboard frames, and I added a tag some other smaller pieces of patterned paper and then added some ephemera and more pieces of chipboard.

I finished with some gold twiddles of thread and some white paint splatters.

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

December Album Pages 1-4 | Lottie Loves Paper | Crate Paper Hey Santa

Friday 27 November 2020

Hi everyone! I'm so very excited to start sharing the foundation pages of my December Album 2020. I have done a December Album for many years now and it's always the most wonderful project and I really look forward to it every year.

Last year I did all my journaling digitally, mostly directly onto my photos. Whilst I love the look, I didn't enjoy the many hours I spent in front of my computer so this year I'm going back to my usual style of foundation pages that are very open, with lots of space for photos and handwritten journaling.

I love my mini books to be interactive and to be full of interesting things. I'll therefore be reaching for vellum, acetate, sequins and pom poms as well as my usual paper crafting supplies.

I'm using a mixture of Hey Santa by Crate Paper and Merry & Bright by Cocoa Vanilla Studio, both available at Lottie Loves Paper. For these first few pages, my Merry & Bright supplies hadn't arrived so these ones just feature Hey Santa.

I've used some metal ties to make the trees on my front cover and to make the 'merry' on page 2. I usually organise my album so that for each set of pages, I have one white background and one patterned background. Some of my pages this year will be full 6x8, whereas some will be split pocket pages, like Page2.

As I mentioned above, I love to have some interactive elements in my albums. Page 2 features a vellum overlay that flips up to reveal the journaling spot underneath and the number.

For my numbers this year I have digitally made my own. I purchased the digital version of the Hey Santa papers and used these to create number circles that I then print and cut on my Silhouette machine. Each will be backed with a glittery circle - because you can never have enough sparkle at Christmas :)

Thanks so much for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed these first few pages. There will be more in a few days time.

Happy scrapping
