Hey everyone, I have a new Mini Album to share today for Hip Kit Club using the October Kits. You can find the October Hip Kits on the Hip Kit Club website.
My assignment today was to focus on the Simple Stories Cozy Days products. I have almost exclusively used Cozy Days products for this album, although I did have to use some journaling cards from the Pocket Life Kit too. I've used a few leftover leaf cut files that I had cut already for a previous layout. It is the 'Sweater Weather' cut file that can be found on the October Downloads tab.
For this mini book I was particularly inspired by the sheet of Cozy Days tags. This sheet of paper contains 15 tags which are double sided! When cut up each tag has a pattern/icon/phrase on one side and a smaller amount of pattern with a black space for journalling on the other side - what a great idea! I cut up the whole sheet and intended to make a mini album out of tags. But then I ran into a problem: my photos were already printed and were too big for the tags. I could have reprinted them smaller but decided to work with what I'd got so the original photos didn't get wasted. Instead of adding the photos to the tags I used the tags for journaling and embellishment and created new 'pages' out of journaling cards and my photos.
I backed two journaling cards together to create a double sided 'page' and was then able to add my photos to the front and back. I did this for all my photos, some are fold out pages to allow for extra photos. Some are pocket pages. I've included a shaker pocket page too filled with sequins from my stash.
I made the front and back covers from the Cozy Days chipboard frames which I backed and embellished. I added stitching to all tags and all pages using my sewing machine and mustard thread.
To bind the book I simply used a bookring. I also made a paper tassel and some paper beads to create a bead string to dangle off of the book ring.
Overall I love how this turned out, and it wasn't even planned until I saw that sheet of Simple Stories Cozy Days tags! Don't you just love it when inspiration strikes.
Thanks so much for joining me
today, happy scrapping and enjoy the process video and flip through below.
