Kenny K: Birthday Cheer!

Sunday, 31 March 2013

Morning Kenny K fans! I hope you are all having fantastic Easter weekends so far and that the Easter Bunny has brought you lots of chocolate already!

This week's Kenny K challenge is:

'Being Square'

which means we want to see lots of squares on your creations this week!

I've made a birthday card for a man (I never find these easy!) and I went square crazy with the background and then added some stars to mix things up a little bit.

This week's Kenny K challenge is sponsored firstly by KennyK Downloads who are giving away a $20 gift voucher and secondly by Bearly Mine Designs who are giving away a £10 gift voucher! A couple of awesome prizes on offer there so make sure you pop on over and join in the fun to be in with a chance of winning!

Sketch Saturday: Thank You

Saturday, 30 March 2013

It's Saturday which means it's time for another awesome sketch over at Sketch Saturday:
This week I've made a Thank you card for my DT entry and haven't stuck as closly to the sketch as I would usually (I would usually have used stars where there are stars on the sketch - I know that's all down to artistic license but I normally try to stick to what's in the sketch anyway!). Instead of a rectangle for the main image I've gone for ovals and instead of stars I've gone for die cut vines and flowers! The image is 'Charlotte' by Milk Coffee who are sponsoring the sketch this week.

This week's Sketch Saturday sketch is sponsored by Milk Coffee who have a fabulous range of cute images and they are offering a brilliant prize so make sure you play along to be in with a chance of winning.

Happy Saturday peeps! xxx

Kit Release: March 4 'Sovienne'

Wednesday, 27 March 2013

Morning scrappers!

This week's kit is one of my all time favourites so far I think. It is called 'Sovienne' and features some of the absolutely gorgeous 'Rondelle' range by Prima Marketing:

The kit contains:
3 x Rondelle patterned papers
2 x coordinating cardstock
crochet circle trim
Kaisercraft Rhinestones (black or silver)

I thought these papers would be perfect for some of my snowy pictures taken back in January. My first layout used one of the background papers that had a large floral cluster printed on it - this was obviously far too nice to cover up so I cut round it and slotted my photos underneath. There wasn't much room for anything else so I embellished the flowers with my crochet trim and the rhinestones. I added some punched snowflakes and a title using alphabet stickers from my stash and hey presto - a finished layout!

My second layout is also of snowy pictures and again the background paper was so beautiful that I didn't want to cover too much of it up so my layout is again quite minimal. I've clustered the layout in a place that doesn't cover too much of the background and again added a few punched snowflakes and embellished using the remaining crochet circle trim and rhinestones.

Here is Kirei's layout - check out her blog for more details on how she made it!

This week's kit costs £6.90 and can be purchased HERE and you can also subscribe in the same place for a better deal.

Happy scrapping everyone!

Kenny K Challenge - One for the Girls

Sunday, 17 March 2013

Morning KennyK Krew!

This week's challenge over at Kenny Ks Krafty Krew is 'One for the Girls' which means we want to see cards made for girls this week.

Here's what I came up with for my DT entry:

I absolutely love this image, it's so awesome for a lady. She's called Blonde Bombshell and you can find here here. I've coloured her with copics and the background papers are My Mind's Eye.

This week's Kenny K challenge is sponsored firstly by KennyK Downloads who are giving away 5 digi stamps to the winner (winner's choice) and secondly by Flonz who are giving away $20 gift certificate for their shop so well worth joining in to be in with a choice of winning those!

Sketch Saturday - Handbag for a Man?!

Saturday, 16 March 2013

Morning morning!

As always we have another awesome sketch for you this week over at Sketch Saturday:
and here is what I came up with for my DT entry. Slightly random I know, a card featuring a handbag and a needle & thread for a man?!  My mum actually commissioned me to make this card for my Uncle Vic. For a living he makes high end ladies handbags all by hand so off I went to find the perfect images to suit! I think I just about managed it and I even added a bit of faux stitching around the circle too. Hopefully he'll appreciate it rather than groan - I would have thought he'd be sick of sewing needles and handbags myself but that's what my mum wanted so that's what she got!

This week's Sketch Saturday sketch is sponsored by Bunny Zoe's Crafts who are offering a fab prize so make sure you pop on over and join in!

I'm scrapping today - have a great crafty day yourself!

Kit Release: March 2 'Honeycombe'

Wednesday, 13 March 2013

Morning scrappers!

This week's kit release features some of the really gorgeous 'Cashmere Dame' range by Glitz Design. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the kit again this week (D'oh!) but I've got a couple of layouts to show you so you'll get the idea!

The kit contains:
2 x Cashmere Dame patterned papers
1 x Amy Tangerine patterned paper
2 x coordinating cardstock
My Mind's Eye Decorative Brads

Both my layouts feature photos a bit on the dark side - two scenes from my recent visit to the Harry Potter Studio Tour.  My first layout is of the Gravestone of Tom Riddle which felt like a bit of a weird thing to scrapbook! I love the combination of the light blue background with the distressed black and white chevron - it comes across a bit spooky and sinister which I didn't think I'd achieve when I first saw the papers, perhaps it's just the photos!

My second layout uses the 'Honeycombe' paper as the background which is really gorgeous (and not spooky at all!) but again coupled with the distressed black and white paper (honeycombe this time and there are some chevrons too) it made the perfect layout for my potions classroom pictures. I journaled in some of the most well-known potions and also a quote from Professor Snape from one of the films. I also liked the fact that the Honeycombe paper had lines on it - it made it tie in quite well with the school classroom thing.

Kirei's layout is awesome and she had photos that went really well with the the hexagons in the paper too. Check out her blog for more details on how she made it.

This week's kit costs just £6.40 and can be purchased here or you can find details about how to subscribe in the same place!

Happy scrapping xx
