Niki's Layout using May 5 Kit 'Yardsticks'

Thursday 31 May 2012

Hi again everyone

What did you think of yesterday's kit? It's hard for me to do male themed layouts as I have a litte girl but I rummaged around and managed to find a picture of me and Ben several years ago on a skiing holiday - perfect!

I focused the top half of my layout on my photo and little title...

and the bottom half on journalling and embellishments.  I was really pleased with how the journalling came out, I picked out a few key words and wrote those in the Kaisercraft Alpha stickers included in the kit whilst writing the rest by hand.

There were so many stickers in the Element Sticker sheet that I clustered a few under the photo...

...and also made actual embellishments out of them.

Finally I finished off by adding those tiny flags (also on the Element Sticker Sheet) in the top left corner of my photo.

I hope you like it and thanks for looking. Stop by tomorrow to see Kirei's layout xx

A Very Special Layout

Saturday 26 May 2012

Hi Again Everyone

I have another layout to share with you today and this one is very special as it's of my little girl when she was only a week old and still super tiny (as she was early)

I've used my leftovers from this week's kit 'Con Brio' to make this layout, however I didn't have much over so I had to improvise and do something minimalistic!

I used the remainder of the die cut shape and cut some of the flowers out of the remaining patterned paper to create the frame and border to the left of the photo :

The circle shape on the background was created just by drawing round one of my dinner plates! I drew around it several times and doodled some tiny dots randomly dotted around the lines. I also added some pearl swirls and single pearls all over the layout.

I finished off by adding a small sub title under the photo

Hope you like this one and thanks for looking!

Mini Album Photo Requirements for Saturday 2nd June

Friday 25 May 2012

Hi All

You should have received an email with a link to this page if you are booked into my Mini Album Class on Saturday 2nd June 2012.

Before I start page-by-page photo requirements it is worth mentioning that all of my photos (except 1) were originally 6x4 prints that I have cut down so please don't be too concerned when you see the list below - you don't need to get mini photos printed, just make sure some of your photos have a lot of background that can be cut away.

The album as a whole features bright summery papers and would be ideal for holiday photos, any outdoorsy type photos or anything really! The colours are cream, pink, green and orange. Here it is:

OK, on to page-by-page:

Heart Charm
I have left the front blank but the back has a photo max 2 3/4" x 2 1/2", cut down into a heart shape. You could also add a photo to the front of this too if you want to.

Heart Page
I've used this as the title page but have a small photo in the heart frame max 3"x 2 3/4", again cut down into a heart shape.

Heart Page - Back
I've used two photos on this page, one 4 1/2" x 3" which I have cut into a heart shape and another 3 1/4 x 3 1/2"

Scalloped Page
I've used three small photos on this page 3 x 2 1/4" each. One portrait 6x4 would work on this page too but it would need to be cut down a bit.

Scalloped Page - Back
I've used 1 photo that I've cut into a 3 1/2" diameter circle. Again a portrait 6x4 would work.

Label Page
I've used one 3 1/2 x 5" portrait photo and one small one 3 x 2 1/4". (The small one is the only one I printed out in a small size as it couldn't be trimmed from the original 6x4)

Label Page - Back
One 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 portrait photo

Tabbed Page
Two 3 1/2 x 5 3/4 " landscape photos.

Tabbed Page - Back
Nothing! Although you could add photos here if you want to.

Let me know if you have any questions, otherwise see you Saturday!

Niki's Layout using May4 kit 'Con Brio'

Thursday 24 May 2012

Hi All

Yesterday's kit was really gorgeous, I particularly loved the speciality Die Cut paper. This is the layout I came up with:

I used the die cut as the focus on my layout but I didn't want it central so I cut off the left side which I then placed flush with the left side of my background sheet.

I used the three journalling tags under my photo as embellishments rather than write journalling on them:

I added some of the pom pom trims under the photo together with the green ribbon flower which is absolutely gorgeous in real life by the way!

And finally I added a short title and a couple of handwritten subtitles to finish off

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by - check back tomorrow to see Kirei's layout using this kit xx

Special 65th Birthday

Tuesday 22 May 2012

Hi All

It's my Dad's 65th birthday tomorrow so to celebrate him receiving his new shiny bus pass here is the card I made him:

The image is 'Gardener George' which is a digi image and is available from Charmed Cards & Crafts which I have coloured using Copics:

Skin: E00, E02, R20
Hair: C1, C3
Jeans: B93, B95, B97
Belt & Boots: E35, E37 & E47
Jumper & Wheelbarrow: YG63, YG68
Flower Pots: E04, E08
Shirt: Y21, Y28

This card obviously needed a big 65 to make sure he doesn't forget how old he now is so some fab vinyl Thickers came in handy here. Plus I added that cute little rose charm as he's well into his gardening and flowers.

and to keep in with the whole gardening theme, I added some grass cut with a Martha Stewart punch

I used the sketch this week over at Sketch Saturday to create this card - I love their sketches!

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by xx

Easter Hoppenings

Monday 21 May 2012

Hi All

I have another little layout to share with you today - this one I did a couple of weeks ago:

This layout was super simple, just one piece of patterned paper stuck vertically down one side of the background card with another piece stuck horizontally across it. All I did then was add the grass which was cut using an edge punch and some spotty green paper (always a winner!) and two photos

and here I did something I have NEVER done before on a layout...stamped an image onto the background card and coloured it using my Copic markers! Why do I not do this more often? I have stamped background images before but not actually used character images before.

The leaves finished the layout off well, together with the large 'friendly font' title
(I do like fun friendly fonts!)

Thanks for looking xxx

Same Bunny!

Sunday 20 May 2012

Hi Everyone

I have a cute layout to share with you today, I've been dying to scrap a photo of my little girl when she was tiny at only 1 day old (extra tiny too as she was 7 weeks early!) holding a little bunny so I thought I'd pair it with a picture of her holding the same bunny at 1 year old...

...big difference hey?!

I've used a full sheet of Bazzill as the background and stuck on a large die cut but they were the only full sheets, the rest is purely from scraps (I feel good using up my scraps!)

I've got some hidden journalling tucked under the photos:

and here is a little cluster of embellishments, a tiny frame and those roses - a bit of fussy cutting is always good!

and a close up of the titles.

So the UK Scrappers challenge this week was to scrap a 'before and after', use a frame, have something hidden and to do some fussy cutting - I managed them all!

And finally I used the sketch this week over at Twisted Sketches to create this layout.

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by xx

Another Layout using 'Rosy Love' Kit

Saturday 19 May 2012

Hi Everyone

I have another layout to share with you today - I've made it with the leftovers I had from this week's kit, 'Rosy Love'

I really enjoyed making this layout and was really pleased with the way it turned out as it didn't start off very well!

I had to add a sheet of Bazzill to use as a background and I also added in some buttons and other bits to finish off.

I really love all the bunting that's so in fashion at the moment so I made a little strip of it to go under my photo. I added a small piece of Bakers Twine, knotted at each end for extra effect. It turned out to be a perfect home for a subtitle!

To bring the layout together a bit I also added another little flag at the top together with a button and brad plus another tiny piece of Bakers Twine

I finished off the layout by adding quite a few journalling strips mixed in with the leftover Label stickers and a title.

I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Kirei's layout with the May Wk 3 Kit - Rosy Love

Friday 18 May 2012

Hi Everyone!

I loved this week's kit with the fab papers and stickers from My Minds Eye and I knew straight away what photo I would use. It is one of my sister Tina on her wedding day, she was carrying a beautiful bouquet of yellow and red gerberas that were the perfect match to the papers.

I used the pretty glitter side of the 'Remember' paper as my base. I wanted to feature the bottom left corner detail for my title so cut around the edge of the red scroll so that I could tuck my photo underneath it (I cut from above the first 'L' in the title and right round to where the red scroll ends at the green glitter frame, just under the last 'L').

To mount the photo I used a variety of different papers and cardstock in different sizes:
1) 4.5" x 10" rectangle from the yellow side of the 'Love' paper
2) 6" x 2" strip from the flower side of the 'Love' paper
3) 3.5" x 2" strip from the flower side of the 'Love' paper
4) 6" x 2" strip from the red Bazzill cardstock
5) 6.5" x 2.5" strip from the red Bazzill cardstock
6) 6.5" x 1.5" strip from the red Bazzill cardstock

Use a border punch along the long edges of the 3 x red Bazzill pieces. Then layer up all of the patterned papers and cardstock onto the base using the photo below as a guide. I did add a piece of narrow yellow ribbon from my stash across the top and right edge of my photo but this was because I realised that my photo was not quite straight so was able to hide it!

I cut some large and small flowers from the red Bazzill cardstock and 'Love' paper using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die. The flower centres were punched from the flower side of the Love'  paper. All of these were then scunched up and lightly inked with brown ink before attaching two large and one small flower to the top left corner of the photo, with four small flowers attached to the bottom left corner of the layout. I then added a few of the My Minds Eye stickers to the bottom left and bottom right of the photo.

Finally I finished off by adding a title with an alpha from my stash.

This Kit is available for a limited time from here, do have a look at the monthly subscription   offer as this is a great way of saving money!

Thanks for looking!
