The Chamber of Secrets

Monday 30 September 2013

I'm still going with my Harry Potter layouts - only about 25 more to go...
This time I've used a sketch by Inspired Bueprints - a sketch site that I have only just come across and they do have some fabulous sketches so I will be popping over there a lot I'm sure.

I've used two 4x4 photos instead of one 6x4 and I haven't used a 3x4 photo at all - I've replaced this element of the sketch with a journaling card to hold a quote from the book/film. I've used stars a lot throughout these layouts so carried on that theme here.

Thanks for looking and happy scrapping xx

Happy Birthday to Noah!

Saturday 28 September 2013

Morning sketchers! Another great sketch over at Sketch Saturday this week:
The image I wanted to use was the other way around so I rotated the sketch to fit in with my image which is by Wings & Willows. The papers are by Basic Grey and and I've added some gingham ribbon some bakers twine and a '2' disc as, yet again, this is a 2nd birthday card!

This week's Sketch Saturday Sketch is sponsored by the fabulous Wings & Willows who have a great prize on offer, so make sure you pop on over and join in to be in with a chance of winning!

Final layouts with the 'Anywhere' kit using Basic Grey 'Bowties' collection

Wednesday 25 September 2013

I really love the Kneehighs and Bowties collections by Basic Grey. These supplies are from the more masculine range 'Bowties'. I love the turquoise, orange and greens together, they work really well and aren't overly masculine so this doesn't limit the types of photos you can scrap using them.

I had this cute photo of baby Max wearing an orange outfit and the colours in the photo went really well with these papers. I loved the background paper so wanted to keep the rest of the layout quite minimal so went for vertical strips. I embellished with the stickers from the same collection. I was running out of alphabet stickers by this point so had to mix uppercase and lowercase...

And back to Harry Potter! I went for the orange/red striped background and used up the remainder of the papers I had leftover from the previous layout. I also used as many of the stickers I could to create a clustered layout.

Here is Kirei's layout using these supplies: check out her blog for more details on how she made it.

A Spiderman Birthday!

Saturday 21 September 2013

We have another great sketch for you over at Sketch Saturday this week:

Now I was slightly at a loss as to what type of card to make a 5 year old boy, girls I get - fairies etc but boys? and especially a 5 year old, I probably can't get away with teddies for this one anymore so I was delighted when I found 'Spidermouse Henry' by Wiff of Joy and even better, he was a freebie!

The papers are by Basic Grey and I used Thickers to make the '5' sign.

Moody's Chest

Thursday 19 September 2013

No challenge, no sketch, no criteria. Just a layout done for me, not a class or a kit, just for me. That almost never happens.

More Harry Potter (seriously, I don't think I'll ever finish the album(s!). There were just too many things there to photograph, all so amazingly detailed that they all deserve their own scrapbook layouts. This was Professor Moody's chest from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which it turns out he was actually in, because Barty Crouch Jr. had taken Polyjuice potion, turned into Moody and locked the real Moody up all year. D'oh!  Awesome chest though and the bottom photo is actually of a mirror above the chest to show what's inside. I've used up some older papers here plus some scraps which I've mixed with some new supplies: the Thickers, the stars journaling card (cut into pieces and spread around the layout), wood veneer chevrons and that brown pattern bottom right is a  transparency. 'Moody's Chest' seemed like a bit of an obvious title so I went for a quote from the film which turned out to be a very long title!  (I used a lot of 'e's, oh dear).

What will you scrap today?

Happy scrapping xx

Layouts with 'Anywhere' kit using Teresa Collins 'Summer Stories' collection

Wednesday 18 September 2013

For these layouts I pulled out the four Teresa Collins 'Summer Stories' papers. This collection is gorgeous - it has glittery bits so is super-gorgeous in my book. There was also a roll of washi tape in the kit that coordinated with this collection and Glitz element stickers from the 'Sunshine in my Soul' collection which went really well with the Teresa Collins collection.

For this layout I made a background by using beige card as my base and piecing bits of the patterned paper together.  I felt that some of the glittery papers were too bold to use all as one sheet and that small areas of glitter would suit my scrapbooking style better. I used the cut apart journaling cards sheet and layered up stickers from the Glitz element stickers to embellish. I also used washi tape (I had the black cameras in my kit).

For my second layout I've gone back to Harry Potter and used photos from the Chocolate Feast (I really wish I lived in a magical land where chocolate just appears on the table!) I used the woodgrain paper as the background and anchored my layout up in the top third of the page. I layered up a few different papers, making sure I got some of that lovely glitter on show, and again layered up washi tape and stickers from the Glitz element sticker sheet.

Here is Kirei's layout using these supplies: check out her blog for more details on how she made it.
