Love you more than the Stars | Bella Blvd | Sketch Week and To the Moon

Friday 18 March 2022

Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Bella Blvd. I’m playing along with this month’s sketch and I’ve used the To the Moon Collection!

I used the sketch as a starting point and chose a 6x4 landscape photo to go in the big space at the top. I mounted this on to a black journaling card. I have used that wonderful constellations paper as my background.

I then decided to use the remaining pieces of the To the Moon Cut Out set. These are sets of pre-cut cut files that come with cutting templates so they can be back filled. What an amazing product these are for people without electronic cutting machines! I had already used the title on a previous layout so I was left with a cluster of stars to use.

I made three of the stars into shaker pockets, by backing them with acetate, adding a wall of foam pads around the edges of the shapes, filling them with sequins and closing them up with patterned paper. I back filled the remaining shapes normally.

Because my star cluster was quite large, it looked a bit off balance with the photo in the middle as represented by the sketch, so I moved the whole design over to the right side.  Sketches are a starting point and can be adapted to work with the supplies that you have or want to use!

I added an ephemera title ‘I love you more than all the stars in the sky’ which is such an adorable phrase!

Down at the bottom of the layout, I added a couple of label stickers. I further embellished the cluster of stars with more punched stars, chipboard stickers and cardstock stickers. I also used some enamel shapes.

I finished off with splatters of white paint. I really love how this one turned out!

This is my final layout of my Creative Team term with Bella Blvd. I’ve loved inspiring you over the last year with these beautiful Bella Blvd products that are so bright and fun to use. Thank you so much for having me!

Happy scrapping

Happy Day | Simple Stories | Full Bloom

Saturday 12 March 2022

Hey everyone, here is another layout using the beautiful Full Bloom collection by Simple Stories.

I’ve used a white background together with that gorgeous diagonal striped paper. I cut a large corner of the paper and put that in the top left corner of the layout with a smaller one in the opposite corner. I love how this looks! I added another layer of patterned paper to the corners too.

I fussy cut lots of daisies from the paper too and tucked these into the layers. I added my photo to the top together with the Happy Day title from the Foam Stickers. The Foam Sticker also contain lots of cute icons, not just titles so I added some of those too: flowers and a bird.

I then set about adding lots of other embellishments and I was spoiled for choice! I love all the ephemera packs: Floral Bits, Bits & Pieces and Journaling Bits! There is just so much to choose from. As well as picking out a few pieces of ephemera, I also added some stickers and labels, Decorative Brads and Puffy Stickers. I also added a few Enamel Dots because they are always a fabulous addition to any page!

I finished off this layout with my journaling right at the bottom and splatters of white paint.

This collection really is the cutest, I adore the little bugs, bees and butterflies!

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Bug Hotel | Simple Stories | Full Bloom Collection

Hey everyone, here is a new layout for Simple Stories using the beautiful Full Bloom Collection. This collection is full of beautiful spring colours and super cute icons. It is perfect for Spring or any outdoors photos I think!

I have a photo of an amazing Bug Hotel which we saw in the grounds of a Country House. It was not so much of a ‘hotel’ but more like a castle!!

The beehive paper was perfect for this, and I decided to cut away some of the squares in the centre to create an abstract shape. I wanted it to represent all the nooks and crannies that the bugs hide in. I made it a reasonable size and then added some yellow bits around the shape too. I backed the shape with orange paper.

I added my photo together with some of the new Floral Bits. I’m so happy to have these as I love floral ephemera! I tucked several behind my photo together with a chipboard cloud.

To make my title I used the alphabet stickers from the Full Bloom Sticker Book. I mounted them onto white card and trimmed them out. I then added the words to the layout raised on foam pads. I then used embroidery thread and two long stitches to ‘cross out’ the word ‘hotel’ and handwrote ‘castle’ underneath. I added bees buzzing around the title and stitched their little trails in gold thread.

I added more Floral Bits around the outside of the shape together with cute chipboard snails, beehive and a sign that says ‘garden’. These are just so adorable!

I finished off with handwriting my journaling and adding splatters of white paint!

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Little Man | Bella Blvd | To the Moon

Wednesday 2 March 2022

Hey everyone! Here is another layout for Bella Blvd. I chose to work with the To the Moon collection today because it is one of my favourites!

I used the wide striped paper, which I cut apart, distressed and then stuck back onto a black background from the Hearts & Ombre Bella Besties paper pack. I made this layout at a real-life crop which was our first one back after nearly a two year break due to the pandemic. Do you ever scrap in real life with friends? It was wonderful to be back. There was a sketch challenge there and this layout was inspired by that. I always enjoy working with sketches.

I added my photo over on the right side of the layout and created an embellishment cluster around the photo. I used stars, stickers and chipboard shapes.

Over on the left of the layout I created a vertical cluster going all the way down the page! I made this from fussy cut planets and lots of punched stars from the off cuts of the wide striped paper. I outlined all the stars so they would show up and arranged the colour-on-colour.

I added a few labels to the strips and used a chipboard title ‘little man’.

I finished off with white paint splatters. I think this layout turned out really fun and I really love that wide striped paper!

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Good Vibes | Hip Kit Club | Moodboard Inspired | January 2022 Kits

Tuesday 1 March 2022

Hey everyone

Here is my latest layout for Hip Kit Club using the January Kits. You can find the January Kits on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/january-2022

I was inspired by the moodboard today which has hearts, a geometric design and flowers. I choose that beautiful background paper and trimmed a section out of the middle to create an area of white space. I then cut my photos into heart shapes, mounted them on more hearts and then began adding my embellishments.

I needed to keep the embellishment fairly simple because of the very busy paper I’d used for the background, so I tucked in a few flowers, added a rainbow (another element on the moodboard) and some more hearts. I also used a chipboard title ‘good vibes’.

I added some tassels from the puffy stickers, and some wood veneer arrows – I love these as they have foiled details, beautiful.

I finished off with some splatters of white paint.

With a heavy heart this is my final layout for Hip Kit Club. I’ve been on the team for 3.5 years and it will be a big change to not be part of it going forward. I have a little too much on my plate at the moment and it is necessary to reduce some of my Design Team commitments so that’s what I’m doing. Hopefully it will be temporary, and I’ll be back soon!

Thanks so much for having me Hip Kit Club, it’s been a blast

Happy scrapping
