Hi
everyone, I have a new layout to share today for Simple Stories. I’m using the
Simple Vintage Farmhouse Garden collection which is a beautiful new collection
that should be arriving in stores very soon. Today’s layout is actually to
celebrate National Scrapbooking Day 2021 and the Simple Stories Design Team are
having an Instagram hop. Head over to the Simple Stories Instagram account to
begin the hop!
For this
layout I wanted to feature some of the beautiful patterned papers from the
Simple Vintage Farmhouse Garden collection. I choose three and cut them into
large blocks. I tore off the strips and then machine stitched around each panel
before attaching to my white cardstock background.
I then decided
I wanted to make some of those pretty pinwheels. The farm we went to and are at
in these photographs have lots of them dotted around so I thought they would be
a great embellishment. I used the coordinating Basics Kit papers and cut these
into squares in different sizes. I snipped the corners and then brough the points
into the middle. I secured them with machine stitching and added them to my
layout before adding an adhesive Decorative Brad in the middle of each – I love
how these turned out”
I then
embellished the layout using chipboard, ephemera from the Garden Bits and the
Bits & Pieces packs, layered stickers and stickers from the Sticker Book.
For my
title I added the word Happy from the foam stickers and Day from the sticker
book letters, I finished off with a few black paint splatters.
I really
love how this layout turned out and the pinwheels in coordinating colours are
super cute!
Thank you so much for joining me today and enjoy the Instagram Hop from the
Design Team!
Hi
everyone, I have a fun new layout to share today for Bella Blvd. I’m using the
Let’s Go on an Adventure collection and my assignment today was to use acrylic
words and shapes.
I picked
out the set of Acrylic Words ‘Explore & Play’ and choose to use Explore as
my main title for this layout. I loved the paper from the Let’s Go on an Adventure
collection that is like a forest: a deep green background covered in trees. I
wanted that to feature heavily on my layout so added it to the top of a white
background and the folded back the corner into a large triangle shape. The
reverse side of that paper is black and the white word Explore showed up so
well against that black so it was definitely the best place to put my title.
I mounted
my photos and tucked the under the fold. I added ephemera from the Ephemera
Icons and the Ephemera Words packs. I also added lots of the cute chipboard
pieces.
On the
large fold I added ephemera trees in different designs and I also pulled out
several hearts in coordinating colours. I also reached for the Heart Hugs pack
in Rainy Day blues and added one of those to the fold which says ‘fun’.
I added
acrylic shapes too, both from the Trees Mix and from the Patriotic Stars. The
red stars didn’t work with my colour scheme today but the blue ones did! I love
the different texture and dimension acrylics add to my layouts so these were
fun to use.
I added
some machine stitching around the outside of my patterned paper and on the fold
itself and finished off with some splatters of blue and green paints either
side of my photo clusters.
I
absolutely love how this layout turned out, it’s just so fun and perfect for my
dinosaur hunting boys.
Thanks so
much for joining me today and happy scrapping
Hi everyone, I have a new layout to share today for Hip Kit
Club using the March Kits. You can find the March 2021 kits on the Hip Kit Club
website.
Today is Mixed Media Monday so I have therefore created a
mixed media background onto a sheet of white card. I was really inspired by the
colours on one of the exclusive papers and decided to use those colours for my
background. I wanted orange, pink and purple. The Color Kit contains three
colours of Shimmerz Paint this month: Sweet Heart Vibes (pink), Mustard Seed
Vibez (yellow) and Purple Peony Creameez (purple). I figured I could mix the
pink and the yellow to create orange.
I firstly tore some strips of paper to go horizontally
across my layout and roughly figure out where I wanted my mixed media. I then moved
them out of the way and set about making my background. I mixed the pink and
yellow paint to create orange and started with that on the left side, using the
packaging technique and also added large drips and splatters. I then moved onto
pink. I sprayed the Sweet Heart Vibez directly onto the layout and also added
more colour using the packaging technique and I also created large drips and
splatters. I then moved onto the purple. I applied this again using the
packaging technique and also added splatters.
I picked out lots of the floral ephemera to match my paint
colours and then arranged them colour on colours on top of my dry paint. I had
two small black and white photos so tucked these in amongst the flowers. I
added cute ephemera such as bunnies, a
bird and hearts. Some were chipboard items too and I also added some
puffy stickers – I just love all the different textures.
I used a chipboard label as my title ‘sweet as sugar’ which
I cut up and stuck under my title. I added my journaling and then added a few
drops and splatters of black ink which finished off the layout really well.
I hope you have enjoyed this layout, it was super quick and
easy and I love the result.
Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping
Hi
everyone, I have a new layout to share today for Simple Stories. I’m using the
Simple Vintage Farmhouse Garden collection which is a beautiful new collection.
I decided
to challenge myself and use a printed patterned paper that has a ‘scene’ on it.
These can be challenging to use and often I wouldn’t use them as a full
background but I really loved this paper and decided to go for it! I trimmed it
down and mounted it onto a black and white check paper and added machine
stitching around the edges.
I trimmed
around some of the leaves on the left side of the paper and slotted one of my
photos underneath – this helped to make the background paper come to life a
little more rather than being a purely flat design. I added some pieces of
ephemera, from both the Garden Bits pack and the Bits & Pieces pack around
my photos to add layers of interest. I also mounted my photos onto journaling
cards from one of the cut apart papers. On the right side of my photos I added
more ephemera, including a fussy cut chicken from a journaling card. I specifically
wanted to include chickens as my photos were of my children feeding the
chickens at our local farm and the chickens in this collection were perfect!
I added
some stickers from the Sticker Book at the bottom of the photo and at the
bottom of the layout. I added a few gingham Ephemera hearts that I raised on
foam pads and I added some of the beautiful Decorative Brads. These are
adhesive so really easy to attach.
For my
title I reached for the Color Vibe Alphas Basics sticker book. I really love
these because they provide multiple fonts in multiple colours! I used the fark
grey colour to create my title: Pecking Order. I used block alphas for the
first word and tile alphas for the second word – I love how this looks!
To finish off
I added some splatters of white paint to the layout – there were already white
paint splatters as part of the design of this background paper so I just added
a few more around my clusters. I also handwrote in my journaling.
Thank you
so much for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed this layout using
Simple Stories Simple Vintage Farmhouse Garden.
Hi
everyone, I have a mini album to share today for Hip Kit Club! I really enjoy
making mini albums and this one is all about my son’s 8th birthday
that was at the beginning of April.
I have used
the March 2021 Hip Kits and have focused on the beautiful patterned papers and
lots of embellishments. I have also used the Subscriber Mini Album cut file
from the March Downloads. You can find
the March Hip Kits here.
I began by sizing
the Mini Album cut file so that it all fitted onto one sheet. I did cut a
practice one to double check size and how to put it together out of white, and
then cut my real ones from five different patterns.
I assembled
the album by machine stitching down the margins and by stitching the pocket
pages. I made sure that the elements of each page coordinated and that both
sides of the paper were displayed. I turned the front of each ‘fold out page’
into a shaker by covering it with acetate and filling with my vast stash of
sequins.
I secured all
the pages with book rings and made a ribbon closure that I could tie in a bow.
Inside each
‘fold out page’ I stitched in a vellum pocket to hold extra photos. I mounted
each photo onto coordinating paper too. I added lots of exclusive Hip Kit Club
March embellishments throughout the album.
Thank you
so much for joining me today and happy scrapping
Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Shimmerz Paints using
the April 2021 Color Kitz. I am absolutely in love with this kit, it has such
beautiful colours. The kit contains five colours of Shimmerz paints: Pixie Dust Blingz, It’s Mint to Be Shimmerz,
So Blue-ti-ful Vibez, Taffy Hour Vibez and Sweet Baby Girl Shimmeringz. As well
as these beautiful colours of paints, the Kitz contains a pack of three
beautiful Dotz and a sequin mix by Spiegelmom Scraps called Baby Stella. In
addition to these things there is also an exclusive cut file which is a title ‘some
bunny loves you’.
I started by cutting the cut file from marshmallow card. I
also cut the backfilled letters from lilac paper. I then painted the outline
cut file with Pixie Dust Blingz. This is a very light coloured paint but it’s
packed FULL of glitter and shimmer so it gave my white cut file a beautiful
colour, sparkle and texture. I set that aside to dry while I worked on my background.
I began to make a background with the other colours from the
April Kitz. I started by spraying Sweet Baby Girl all over the background. I
also added Taffy Hour Vibez and So Blue-ti-ful Vibez. I applied these by spraying
directly onto the background. I dried them with a heat tool and then applied It’s
Mint to Be Shimmerz using the packaging technique and dripping large drips. I
also added more Sweet Baby Girl. Once it was all dry I added splatters of all
colours.
Once my cut file was dry I backed it with the lilac paper
ready cut earlier. I arranged this title and my four photos onto my layout. My
photos just weren’t working with the colours so I re-printed them in black and
white and then they worked perfectly! That’s a great tip, if ever you have
colours that clash, the printing photos in black and white almost always fixes
that problem!
I stuck down all the elements, including some tags behind
the photos and some bunny embellishments. I only added a few more
embellishments: some labels, some chipboard pieces and a couple of
Perspextives. I also added two of the Dotz that came with the April Color Kitz.
I finished off by scattering the beautiful Baby Stella
Spiegelmom Scraps sequins all around the outside of my design and then added a
few last splatters.
Thank you so much for joining me today and don’t forget that
if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, put my name in the comments to receive
a freebie.
Hi
everyone, I have a new layout to share today for Bella Blvd. My assignment
today was to make a Spring layout and to use Bella Besties as well as the Chloe
collection.
I started
with the Springtime cut file available from the Silhouette Design Store. I re-arranged
the letters so that ‘Spring’ was all on one line and I added an extra flower. I
then cut this from a sheet of white cardstock which left me with a background
with letters cut out of it. I backfilled all the letters using Bella Besties,
the Freehand Graph & Dot pack. I picked out five colours that went well
with the spring theme: Cotton Candy, Bell Pepper, Orange, Pickle Juice and Ice.
I backfilled the cut file title with those colours, mixing up the graph sides
and dot sides. I even did the tiny bits of the flowers in different colours too
and they are all raised on foam pads so there is good depth to the cut file.
I fussy cut
lots of hearts from a Chloe paper. I folded each one and added them to places
on my layout where there were similar colours. I also arranged five together in
a circle shape: with the hearts folded and arranged in this way they look like
a flower.
I then went
through the Chloe collection and used the Ephemera Icons, specifically the
beautiful flowers in this pack. I added these to my layout too all raised on
foam pads. I also used some Bella Pops the ‘Cat House’ set. I just used the two
clouds from this set at the top of my layout.
I then
added lots of Trinkets puffy stickers, again colour-on-colour style. I love
these so much, I think they may be my favourite Bella Blvd product! I added the
word ‘walk’ to extend my title using Florence alphabet stickers in Bell Pepper.
I finished
off by handwriting my journaling and adding a few Matte Enamels also from the
Chloe Collection.
Thank you
so much for joining me today and happy scrapping
Hi
everyone, I have a new layout to share today for Lottie Loves Paper using
Simple Stories Bunnies & Blooms. I started off with the sheet of paper
containing 4x4 journaling cards. I wanted to arrange three onto my layout and
initially thought about a vertical or horizontal row. This wasn't working so I
switched to quadrants and from there my layout came together super easily.
I
stitched around the edges of four cards and get them stuck in place. I added my
photos to the bottom right quadrant and then balanced those out by adding a
large fussy cut bunny to the top left quadrant. I also added some tags from the
Tags paper in the same area. I added the 'spring' flag banner to the layout and
stitched it in place with my sewing machine.
I
added a trimmed border sticker from the 12x12 stickers to the bottom of the
layout and then started creating clusters. I added some cute embellishments
just under my photo: foam stickers, chipboard stickers and some of the adhesive
brads. In the top right quadrant, I added labels from the ephemera, all
distressed and raised on foam pads. I added a few other stickers and labels to
the layout too. I also added two Easter Eggs and one Easter Bunny Perspextives.
I
finished off by writing in the date and added some gold splatters. It is a very
quick and simple layout but I love how it turned out - so fun!
Thank
you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping
Hi everyone I have a new layout to share today for Bramble
Fox. I’m using the April Fox Box and am focusing on the Brighter Days title and
the white rainbow.
I used Maggie Holmes Garden Party for this layout. I
selected a blue floral paper to coordinate with the Brighter Days title.
Instead of fussy cutting individual blooms I decided to trim around the edge to
create a floral border. I stuck this to white card with foam pads so that I had
an aperture to work within.
I created a cluster for my photo top left of the layout. I
added several paper and ephemera layers and a couple of tags. I also fussy cut
some black and white blooms from another paper and used these around my photo
too.
At the bottom of the layout I created two clusters, one in
each corner and positioned the Brighter Days title in between the two. I used several
bits of Maggie Holmes Garden Party ephemera, chipboard and stickers as well as
some more of those black & white florals. On the right side I added the
white rainbow perspextive which I backed first with white card.
I added a few more details around the layout and some
splatters too. I then took a quick look in my Bramble Fox drawer to see if
there were any older Perspextives I could use and I found the teal dragonflies
and mushrooms – perfect! I dotted these around the layout and the colour is so
completely perfect! I love it when that happens and it’s great that I used some
older perspextives too.
Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping
Hi everyone, I have my first layout to share today for Simple Stories! I'm so happy to have joined the team. I am using the Happily Ever After collection today which is wedding themed. I'm going back in time today and scrapbooking a photo from my own wedding which was over 10 years ago! I usually scrap my most recent photos so this is a bit of a change for me but it was wonderful to get this photo scrapped.
I began by selecting a background. I loved the dark paper with small coloured hearts all over it. I trimmed it down, distressed the edges and added it to a white card background so it had a border. I added a few white paint splatters too.
I mounted my photo onto a journaling card and also added one of the beautiful chipboard frames over the top of the subjects in my photo - I love how this looks as it totally draws the attention to the photo. I added the word 'Love' from the Chipboard Stickers and the word 'story' from the Foam Stickers to make the title 'Love story'.
I then fussy cut lots of tags from the tags paper, distressed the edges, punched holes and machine stitched around each one. I tied twine through each one, tying some into bows while leaving others as small knots. I also added machine stitching around the outside edge of my layout. I arranged the tags in a horizontal design across my layout and added my photo to the right side.
I tucked in some flowers from the Bits & Pieces pack as well as a camera from the same pack. I also added gold hearts, also from the Bits & Pieces pack - I raised these on foam pads to give them extra dimension. I also added a gold heart from the Foam Stickers. I love the gold accents that run throughout this collection and really can't get enough of them!
I finished off this layout with a few label stickers from the Cardstock Stickers and I handwrote my journaling onto one of the tags.
Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing this collection and like my layout. Enjoy the video.
