Kit Release: Two-by-Two

Wednesday 30 January 2013

This week's kit features some of the really funky range 'Doodle Deux' by Prima:
The kit contains:
3 x Prima 'Doodle Deux' patterned papers
2 x coordinating cardstock
Trims.

I wanted to focus on the red in the papers for my first layout as I had some fireworks pictures to scrap plus my little one was wearing a red coat. I love the hint of black in these papers, they make for a really bold layout:

My second layout was a bit more fun and I tried to make the most of all the different elements that were on the cut apart sheet that was in the kit:

Kirei's layout is really fun and also makes the most of the cut-apart elements. Take a look at her blog for more details on how she made it.

This kit costs just £4.70 and is available to purchase HERE and you will also find details about our great monthly subscription deal in the same place.

Sketch Saturday - a new baby girl

Saturday 26 January 2013

Morning all

This week I'm being organised and have made a new baby card for a friend who is not actually due for another few weeks, but when it comes to it, I'll be prepared to send the card straight away which I don't usually manage!

We have another FANTASTIC sketch for you this week over at Sketch Saturday (I know I say it every week but I just love these sketches, I now struggle to make a card without one!)
and here is my very girly and pink baby girl card, isn't she cute!

I love the enamel dots that I've used up in the top left corner, they are by My Mind's Eye and are fast becoming one of my favourite embellishments. Down in the bottom corner I've layered up a few punched flowers together with a sentiment and some Prima flowers for that clustered look I seem to love so much these days. The main image is by Stamp Fairy  (you'll find her in the baby section) who have an awesome range of stamps in their shop so make sure you pop on over and have a peek.

This week's Sketch Saturday sketch is sponsored by Stamp Fairy and they are offering a prize so make sure you join in with the sketch this week.

Kit Release: January week4 'Simple Romance'

Wednesday 23 January 2013

This week's kit is really gorgeous and features some of the really soft and beautiful 'Dear Lizzy Neapolitan' range by American Crafts:
The kit contains:
3 x Dear Lizzy Neapolitan patterned papers
2 x coordinating Bazzill cardstock
A few Dear Lizzy Neapolitan element stickers.

I really love that the manufacturer's strips have additional patterns on the reverse. In my first layout I've used one of them to it's full potential but putting part of it above and below my three photos. The element stickers provided in the kit gave me a title too so there was no need to add any alphabet stickers.

In my second layout I also used the other two manufacturer strips to add that little extra something. I love these chevrons as a background pattern. I used up the rest of my element stickers at the bottom and the side and added a title using leftover alphabet stickers from previous kits.

Kirei's layout is gorgeous. She had slightly different element stickers to me (they vary from kit to kit) and has also made the most of those and one of the manufacturing strips. She's added alphabet stickers from her stash. Have a look at her blog for more info on how she put the layout together.

This week's kit is available to purchase HERE and you will also find some details about subscribing there too.

Kenny K - Vintage

Sunday 20 January 2013

Morning Kenny fans!

This week's fabulous challenge is:

'Vintage'

and for my DT entry I've decided to go crazy and make a wedding card that I don't need until May - organised or what! The couple getting married are a real fun couple so the 'Wedding Dance' image was absolutely perfect for them!

I am loving Prima flowers at the moment so formed a little cluster of them under the sentiment - they are perfect for the 'Vintage' theme together with the lace.

This week's KennyKs Krafty Krew challenge is sponsored firstly by KennyK who are giving away 5 digi stamps to the winner and secondly by Flonz Stamps and their prize is worth $20 so it's well worth popping over to join in!

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges:
Allsorts - Flower Power
Drunken Stampers - All that Glitters
Paper Creator's Crafts - Love is all Around
Simply Create Too - Anything Goes

Sketch Saturday - Happy Birthday to Charlie!

Saturday 19 January 2013

A very happy and snowy morning to everyone!

It has certainly been snowing here in St Albans - it is white everywhere! Thankfully I don't have to go out anywhere which means I can enjoy the snow without worrying about going out in it - lovely!

Anyway, on to this week's Sketch Saturday sketch:
I have made this card for my friend's little boy who has just turned 2. The image is by Lili of the Valley and is perfect for a youngsters birthday:

This week's Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Bunny Zoe's Crafts and there's a prize on offer so make sure you pop on over to join in!

Kit Release - January Week 3 'Arrows'

Wednesday 16 January 2013

Morning, morning!

This week's kit release features some of the brilliant 'Note to Self' range by Echo Park:
 The kit contains:
2 x Note to Self patterned papers
2 x coordinating cardstock
Note to Self Element Sticker sheet

I really enjoyed using this kit. I usually go for more girly ranges because I have a little girl so this was out of my comfort zone a bit, especially as I wanted to scrap photos of her... but I think I rose to the challenge quite well! The Element Sticker sheet contains so many stickers that there were loads of embellishments to choose from too:

I used a couple of Instagram photos on my second layout - I love the look, even though they aren't the best quality photos in the world. The colours in the kit went really well with my photos and so did the arrows. I used the leftover alphabet stickers from last week's kit to form the title, and of course used loads more of the element stickers - they make it so easy!

I love Kirei's layout - she looks like she's splattered her cardstock with ink and it looks like she's had fun with the Element Stickers too - check out her blog for more details of how she made it.

This kit is available to purchase here and you will also find details about subscribing in the same place!

Have I got Scrap for YOU!!

Monday 14 January 2013

Happy Monday Scrappers!

Today I'm starting the first in a monthly series of classes over on UK Scrappers and it's called 'Have I got Scrap for YOU!!'.

Each month I'll pick out a few hot topics, trends or techniques and will showcase some layouts for each of those. There will also be a step-by-step for one of those layouts.

For the month of January we are tackling common scrapbooking New Years Resolutions:
Strategise Your Stash
Starting a year-long project and working with divided page protectors and
Trying something new: scrapping with small prints

You can find the PDFs for both the class and the step-by-step over on UKS HERE.

Take a look at the layouts below. The first two are just sample layouts whilst the last one is the step-by-step.

Step-by-Step

I hope you enjoy the first installment of the class and I'd love any feedback on offer so please feel free to pipe up!
