Kit Release: October 5 'Hallows'

Wednesday 31 October 2012

Happy Halloween everyone!

In true Halloween style this week's kit features some of the really gorgeous My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Halloween range. Lost & Found is always beautiful with the pretty glittery bits but this range has been make to be spookily gorgeous!

The kit contains:
2 x My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Halloween glittered patterned papers
2 x coordinating cardstock
Lost & Found Halloween Layered Stickers.

My first layout is of the most amazing Halloween cupcakes I have ever seen. We have a local cupcake shop and this display was absolutely fantastic! I kept the background simple and dressed up the layout with a few pieces of the patterned papers  and I've added black glittery alphabet stickers from my stash.

My second layout is of my little girl well into all the trick or treat goodies we have in store for the trick or treaters tonight - there might not be any left! I used a lot more patterned paper on this layout and cut out a load of adverts from one of the papers - they are so cool!

And here is Kirei's layout. I love how she's don't a non-halloween themed page with these papers, very impressive. Check out her blog for more details on how she made it.

This kit costs £6.20 and can be purchased here or alternatively subscribe for a better deal!

Thanks for looking and happy scrapping!

UK Scrappers Challenge

Tuesday 30 October 2012

Afternoon!

It was my turn to set a challenge on UK Scrappers this week and I decided to base it around the new baby in my life. Here was the criteria I set:

"My life has been in a bit of turmoil lately, nothing bad...I'm expecting my second baby! There's been some complications and lots of ups and downs already but fingers crossed things will go smoothly from now on. This represents a new beginning for me and my family so for the first part of this week's challenge I want you to scrap something new.

I don't know if baby number 2 is a boy or a girl yet so please use non-traditional gender specific colours on your layout, i.e. no pink or blue, all other colours are fair game!

Babies are usually quite little things (hopefully!) so please incorporate some small embellishments onto your layout i.e. gems, brads, buttons, charms etc

As this will be my second baby, please use two (but no more than two) of something on your layout, it could be two photos, two words in your title, two lines of journaling, two of a particular type of embellishment i.e. two butterflies, two trims etc but two and only two of one thing.

To sum up:

Something new: 10 points
No pink or blue: 5 points
Small embellishments: 5 points
Two, and only two, of something: 10 points."

and here is the sample I (eventually!) made:

I've obviously scrapped the new bubba, I've not used any pink or blue, I've used small buttons and scattered pearls and I've used two and only two washi tapes - all criteria met!

If you'd like to join in then head on over to this thread on UKS, make a layout and add it to the gallery.

Only Scraps Allowed...Chevrons

Monday 29 October 2012

Hi Ladies

Well what a weekend I've had. I've been an the Scrapagogo Retreat which is always so much fun! I didn't get as much scrapping done as usual but I did the 7 classes plus completed 5 other layouts so not bad really. I'm making a real meal out of unpacking today though and have only just finished really!

This week's Only Scraps Allowed Challenge is to use chevrons on your layouts. Chevrons are all the rage right now and scrappers everywhere are in love with them and I'm no exception! I saw this pink and white chevron paper this weekend in the GoGo shop and I just had to have it! It's part of the My Mind's Eye Sweetest Thing Honey collection. I pulled out a photo to match together with patterned paper scraps:

and here's my layout. This layout is actually a scraplift of a layout by Davinie Fiero and you can see the original layout here.  On the GoGo weekend we were set a series of scraplift challenges and this was one of those. Most of the embellishments on this page are from the Honey range too - can you tell I liked it?!

If you would like to join in this week then simply make a layout using up your paper scraps (one whole sheet allowed for the background and any embellishments you like) and incorporate chevrons somehow then link your layouts below - enjoy!

Sorry for the short post today, I have 45 mins remaining to dry my hair, pack, pack my scrapbooking stuff, print some photos and look up the address to where I am driving too. Warning: whirlwind ahead!!

52 Layouts #21 Stone Grill

Happy Friday Everyone!

I'm off to a scrapbooking retreat this afternoon and soooooo cannot wait! I've got a lot to do today in order to get ready for it but I'm on a mission so fingers crossed I'll get it all done.

To join in with this week's 52 Layouts you will need:

2 sheets of patterned paper
1 sheet of cardstock
3 photos: 2 x 6x4 landscape and 1 4x4
Large tag
Alphabet stickers
A couple of embellishments, I've got a butterfly and a flower
Oh and a little bit of bakers twine.

Step 1
Choose a background and ink the edges.

Step 2
Cut patterned paper to  7x9", ink the edges and stick to the right side of the layout.

Step 3
Mount two 6x4 photos onto cardstock 6.25x8.25" and stick to the layout but only stick three sides - the right edge should remain unstuck.

Step 4
Mount your 4x4 photo onto cardstock 4.25x4.25 and stick to the layout but again, only stick 3 sides - this time the top edge should remain unstuck.

Step 5
Cover your tag in patterned paper (I've used the reverse side of one of my papers) and ink the edges. Poke a hole though and tie through some baker's twine.

Step 6
Stick your butterfly and flower to the bottom of the layout.

Step 7
Now write the journaling on your tag and pop it into the pocket created on the layout.

Step 8
Add a title (notice the deliberate mistake?) I've inked my letters in order to bring them in keeping with the rest of the layout.

Step 9
Embellish your layout using any dots or spare punctuation from your alphabet sticker sheet. Thickers always come with extra dots and little shapes and this is a great way of pulling the layout in together. I've put them in each corner and also either side of my embellishments.

Step 10
(notice the title is now correct!) Using a ruler and journaling pen, draw a border around the edge of the layout in between those dots in the corners. I've also drawn a line either side of my embellishments.

And here it is all finished!

I hope this inspires you and if you play along just add a link to your work below!

Kit Release: October week 4 'Tropical Twist'

Wednesday 24 October 2012

Morning All

This week's kit features some of the really gorgeous Kaisercraft 'Bubblegum Hills' paper collection which is really bright and fun:
Kit contains:
2 x Kaisercraft 'Bubblegum Hills' papers
2 x coodinating cardstock
Crystal or Pearl flourish
A couple of trims

I went for a quite minimalistic approach for my first layout as I really wanted the photo to be the focus point on my layout. I used only small amounts of patterned papers to make the photo stand out and also used up alphabet stickers from October 1's kit (Dreamy Days)

I used up a lot more of the patterned paper in my second layout and made embellishments by cutting out some of the patterns on the papers and raising them up on sticky foam pads.

and here is Kirei's layout using this kit. Have a peek at her blog for more details on how she made it.

This kit is available to purchase here and costs just £6.20. If you would like to subscribe then you can do that on the website too or feel free to drop me an email, I've very friendly!

Happy scrapping!

Only Scraps Allowed: 4 different patterns

Monday 22 October 2012

Afternoon all - I know I'm very late posting today! That's because I've been at the hospital this morning (see below!) and when I went to schedule the post last night my photos had corrupted so I couldn't do it until now...

This week's Only Scraps Allowed Challenge is to use 4 or more patterns on your layout. I had a great photo of my baby group babies all lying on a multicoloured mat which was ideal for this challenge so I raided my scraps basket to see what patterns would work together:

And here's my layout:

I was a bit worried about using so many patterns on one layout, and these were all quite bold patterns too, perhaps I should have picked out some more subtle ones but there were certain scraps I just wanted to get used up so thought I'd go for it and see!

If you'd like to join in the challenge this week then create a layout using your paper scraps (one whole sheet allowed for the background and add any embellishments you like) and incorporate 4 different patterns into it! Then link your layouts below.

Oh yes and the reason I've been at hospital all morning:
I'm expecting! 14 weeks tomorrow and due on 23rd April 2013 all being well.

Happy Scrapping!
