Origami Christmas Trees using Heart & Home | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Saturday, 23 December 2023

Hey everyone! So I’m still determined to be festive throughout December even though I don’t have any Cocoa Vanilla Studio Christmas Collections! For today’s layout I’ve used Heart & Home. I picked out some of the pinky-red tones and a green paper and a blue paper.

Out of the two papers, I cut squares in increasing sizes, and then folded them into triangles, then folded the corners down to make ‘trees’ – layering the three together really looks like branches! I made two of these origami trees, one in blue and one in green. I arranged them across the layout together with my photo in a horizontal like.

I embellished the trees with red and pink flowers and I punched pink stars to go on top of the trees. I felt the top of the layout was looking a little sparse, so I added a strip of pink paper and a flower and phrase sticker.

For my title I used a mixture of Gold Title Ephemera ‘let’s stay’ and then the word ‘home’ I made from the Mini Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

I finished off with my journaling on the left side of the layout, splatters of gold paint and a few Puffy Stickers. I’m really happy with how this layout turned out and even though it’s not a Christmas collection, I think that it does have a Christmassy-feel about it!

Happy scrapping and Merry Christmas everyone!

ExtraOrdinary | Bramble Fox | January Fox Box

Friday, 22 December 2023

Hey everyone, here is a new layout for Bramble Fox. I’ve used the Extra Ordinary title from the January Fox box and the little grey tab that says ‘the little things’. I’ve used a recent family photo and the new Noteworthy collection by Simple Stories.

I choose two papers and cut them to large squares. I distressed the edges, offset them, and stuck them to the middle of a white cardstock background. My photo is a long photo, which I mounted onto some more patterned paper and then I added this to the bottom of the square. My Bramble Fox Perspextive title then fit nicely under the photo.

I added floral clusters to two areas of the layout and then added more embellishments to those areas. I added the grey tab above the photo and added a few more embellishments to this area too.

I finished off with little Perspextive hexagons, splatters of white paint and some pretty sequins. I love how this layout turned out!

Happy scrapping

Be Merry | Simple Stories | Boho Christmas

Wednesday, 20 December 2023

Hey everyone! Here is a new layout for Simple Stories using Boho Christmas! This is my favourite of the four Christmas collections this year, I love the Boho vibe!

I choose a diagonal design with layers that dipped in the middle. I love the two papers I choose to use for these pieces. The deep red really pops and I just love it! I added two photos to the middle of the layout as that was the obvious place for the focal point.

I really loved the paper with ‘Merry’ written all over it but wasn’t sure how to use it as a whole sheet, so I fussy cut out one of the strips, as one piece, and used the words as a feature across the bottom of the layout – I love how this looks!

I created two small clusters either side of my photos and added some phrase strip stickers in the middle. I also made another cluster at the bottom left of the layout. At the very top I added a title ‘Be Merry’ handing on a bunting string – I love it!

I adore all the fun icons in this collection and the beautiful poinsettia flowers!

Have a very merry Christmas everyone and happy scrapping!

Merry Christmas | Simple Stories | Simple Vintage Dear Santa

Tuesday, 19 December 2023

Hey everyone! Here is another layout using the gorgeous Simple Vintage Dear Santa collection by Simple Stories.

For this layout I fussy cut lots of ornaments from one of the papers – I love how they are a patchwork design with zig-zag stitching, they are adorable!

Once I had lots cut out, I set about arranging them onto a white background. I trimmed down a sheet of white card and added this to a sheet of red gingham print from the Simple Vintage Basics pack of paper. I love these packs, they coordinate perfectly with the papers in the main collection. I also adore gingham! When happy with the positioning, I stuck them to the white background, all raised on foam pads. I then added ‘string’ which was red thread long-stitched to the top of the white part of the layout. I wanted them to all look like they were dangling from the top!

I added my photo which I mounted a few times on some of the Dear Santa patterned papers. I added a large title ‘merry Christmas’ at the top and added a few embellishments to the right of my photo, along with some colourful phrase strip stickers from the Cardstock Stickers.

I then added little details to all the hanging ornaments. I added small stars stickers, hearts, Decorative Brads and more phrase strip stickers. I also added a few ephemera hearts from the Bits & Pieces in-between the ornaments and their strings.

I finished off with some splatters of black paint and my handwritten journaling!

I adore the finished layout, I just love all those ornaments!

Happy scrapping

Believe | Simple Stories | Simple Vintage Dear Santa

Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Simple Stories using the Simple Vintage Dear Santa collection. For this layout I focused on one paper that was made of patchwork and I cut it apart. I then layered up the pieces in two large clusters in a split design on my white background.

I cut down my white background and layered this onto that beautiful black paper with typed words on – it made a lovely border for my page.

Once I was happy with the positioning of all my patchwork pieces in clusters, I added zig-zag machine stitching to all the layers. I love the look of this, but then I ran into some difficulties because I was then unable to tuck embellishments under the layers – ha! I worked with it though and managed to simply layer on top of the papers!

I added my photo to the left side of my page – every year I set my phone up aimed at our Christmas tree set to motion sensor – and I always manage to capture a photo of Santa delivering presents in our house! My children are always so excited to see if we ‘caught’ Santa on Christmas Day! This is one of those photos.

I added a large embellishment cluster to the left of my photo: I love the florals, the candy canes and the snowflakes. I also added a large cluster on the right side of the layout, including some of the Chipboard Clusters that are available for this collection.

I also used a few 3D effect stars to embellish the layout, I really love how these look 3D but are just printed that way – it is so clever! I used these in both clusters. I also added some phrase strip stickers from the Cardstock Stickers and also put half-pieces of the border sticker at either side of the layout.

I finished off with some journaling and added some splatters of black paint! I love how this one turned out!

Multiple Photo Layout using Boho Christmas | GoGo Getaway Challenge

Monday, 18 December 2023

Hey everyone! Here is a layout I made for a GoGo Getaway challenge at the recent Cybercrop, which was to use multiple photos – four or more!

I choose to document a series of photos from a day out last year when we went searching for Nutcrackers around our local town. I had 8 photos to use! I printed them quite small and then mounted them onto two photo strips. I’ve used Simple Stories Boho Christmas collection and some Bramble Fox Perspextives that I believe I got in the Advent Calendar last year.

I love how it turned out and even though I was initially a bit scared of using so many photos on one layout, I think it ended up great!

Happy scrapping and Merry Christmas

Noteworthy Travel Memories using Bramble Fox Fox Box

Tuesday, 12 December 2023

Today I’m scrapbooking some noteworthy memories using the January 2024 Fox Box and a travel collection by Simple Stories called Here & There. I’ve used a circular paper as my focal point and layered two photos on the left side and balanced those out with a journaling card on the right.

My title gets centre stage right in the middle of the layout. The word ‘noteworthy’ fit beautifully in between the two clusters. I extended the title by using a piece of ephemera that says ‘memories’.

I also used some arrows from the new Arrows set, and the ‘take note’ tab also from the January Fox Box. I’ve also used some of the Paper Snips #049 – two stars and several lovely phrase strips.

Happy scrapping

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, using Cocoa Vanilla Studio Happy Days

Sunday, 10 December 2023

Hey everyone! I was determined to make Christmassy layouts in December but I don’t have any Cocoa Vanilla Studio Christmas Collections anymore – I loved them so much that I used them all up at the time! So I’m using the two latest collections, Happy Days and Heart & Home and getting Christmassy with those! For this layout I’ve mostly used Happy Days but the big green stars are from Heart & Home.

I love 3D stars and stars are perfect for Christmas. I also love modern Christmas colours, so pink & turquoise mixed with greens and golds so it was absolutely no problem for me to make a Christmas layout with these colours!

I settled on a horizontal design across the layout but I also added a little pink ink as a base colour and some splatters of the pink and gold paint too. I used several of the specialty paper Gold Frames from the Happy Days collection.

I picked out my papers and then used metal dies to make lots of stars. I then scored them at all five points, and folded them to make the 3D stars. I added flowers and hearts from Happy Days in the same colours.

For my title I used a mixture: ‘wonderful’ and ‘time’ were the chipboard words from Happy Days, ‘the’ and ‘of’ were the gorgeous gold word Ephemera from Heart & Home. The little letters are the puffy mini alphabet stickers from Happy Days.

I love how it turned out and I think it is very Christmassy!

Happy scrapping!
