MWHAHAHA | Simple Stories Spooky Nights

Sunday 31 October 2021

Hey everyone and happy Halloween! I’m here to share a new layout for Simple Stories today using the spooktacular Spooky Nights collection.

I wanted to show off some of the gorgeous papers in this collection and therefore created a large torn area at the top. I make the layout on a black background to make it feel extra spooky. I then added some colours onto the black card and the white spiderweb paper with Distress Oxide inks. I also added a few splatters. I then added my photos to this area together with two tags from the Spooky Nights Tags paper which I tied through with ribbons.

I really wanted to use that MWHAHAHA title from the Foam Stickers but it didn’t really work with design…it would have worked better if it hadn’t been stacked but I was super keen to use it so I added it at the top. I then balanced it out by adding a small cluster at the bottom of the layout. This created a diagonal line which hugely helped to balance out the large title.

I used fun chipboard stickers and Bits and Pieces ephemera. I also added Decorative brads and foam stars.

I love how this layout turned out, Halloween scrapbooking is so much fun!

Happy scrapping

Spooky | Peartree Cutfiles Guest Design | Colour Challenge

Saturday 30 October 2021

Hi everyone! I am delighted to be guest designing for Peartree Cutfiles today as part of their Pear Drop online crop! It’s all things Halloween today and my challenge is a Colour Challenge with the spooky colour combination of orange, green, turquoise, purple, black.

I’m using the Spooky cut file which is new to the shop. I’m also using Spider Web from last year. I’ve cut the spider web three times in different sizes all from black cardstock.

I created two areas of colour using Distress Oxide inks. I added black splatters of paint and then added the three Spider Webs over the top.

For the Spooky cut file, I created blocks of colour onto white card which I blended with black to create an ombre effect. I then used these to back the letters in the Spooky cut file.

I then added lots of embellishments using Spooky Nights by Simple Stories – I love how this layout turned out!

Thank you so much for joining me today and have fun playing along with the Pear Drop online crop! Make sure to get your layouts into the album by 10pm Sunday 6th NOVEMBER 2021.

Happy scrapping and happy Halloween!

The Best | Hip Kit Club | September 2021 Kits | Moodboard Inspired

Tuesday 26 October 2021

Hi everyone! I have a new layout for Hip Kit Club to share today. I’m using the September 2021 Kits which can be found on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/september-2021 .

I have been inspired by the moodboard today. This month’s moodboard has been designed by Rebecca Moore and it is filled with beautiful images and colours. One of the prominent images contains a pumpkin, so I decided to use a pumpkin photo on my layout today.

I choose one of the Pinkfresh Studio Papers for my background. I folded it over to create a large golden vertical strip on the layout and added it to white card. The large strip reminded me of the book spines on the moodboard.

I had a second sheet of that paper and spent some time fussy cutting out all the leaves on the reverse side. I added my photo to the layout and arranged all these fussy cut leaves to the right.

I added some torn layers to the golden strip. I added chipboard frames under my photo and added lots of additional little things to the foliage spray: fussy cut apples, Pinkfresh Studio flowers, puffy hearts, chipboard flair and enamel dots. To the left of my photo I added more flowers, both puffy and ephemera and more chipboard flair and enamel dots.

I added machine stitching and then finished off with splatters of orange paint from the September Colour Kit.

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Happy | Hip Kit Club | Main Kit Only | September 2021 Kits

Saturday 23 October 2021

Hi everyone! I have a new layout for Hip Kit Club to share today. I’m using the September 2021 Kits which can be found on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/september-2021 .

Today I’m using the September Main Kit only. I decided to go for a quadrant design with four squares on a background. I chose a piece of orange cardstock for my background from the Cardstock Kit, and then cut four squares, one in white and the others from patterned papers from the September Kit. I distressed the edges of these and added machine stitching.

I then added my photo and carefully chosen embellishments that went well with the colours of papers used.

I added one of the fabric pockets to the top left square and put in a few tickets. These hold my journaling.

I finished with a few splatters of white paint.

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Hello Snow Mini Album | Simple Stories | Feelin' Frosty

Monday 18 October 2021

Hi everyone! I have a new Mini Album to share today for Simple Stories using the new Feelin’ Frosty Collection. I was so excited when I saw this collection, it is just ‘a bit of me’! I love the cool colours and all the fun frosty embellishments, it is so fun and I think it’s my favourite collection EVER!

I actually sat down to make two regular layouts BUT the snow globe icon in the collection kept catching my eye and I kept thinking how great it would be as a mini album front cover. I decided to go for it! I created a large version of the snow globe by drawing a circle using a compass, and then freehand cutting the base. Stuck together they made a fabulous snow globe!

I have mostly used the 6x8” paper pad for this mini album. I covered the blue paper I had used for the front cover with acetate and sewed them together with machine stitching. I filled the pocket with loads of beautiful sequins and then closed up the gap. I added blue pom pom trim around the outside of the circle and also added glittery white pom pom trim to the base. I also added Foam Stickers and Chipboard Stickers to the front cover. I love how it turned out!
To make the inside pages I cut multiple circles from the 6x8 papers using metal dies. I sliced off the top of each so I had a straight edge, and hinged the all together using small folds of vellum. The binding is therefore extremely simple and it created a flip-up effect.

I also made a back cover in the same style as the front cover, although without the sequins. I stuck the internal flip up pages to the inside back cover. I also added cut pom pom trim to the back cover.

To attach the two covers together I used a small length of ribbon that I machine stitched to the top of each one. This kept the two pieces linked and also allows the mini album to stand up! The front cover flips over to reveal the back cover with the flip-up style pages.

To decorate the pages I added Bits & Pieces, Journaling Bits, Foam Stickers, Puffy Stickers, Cardstock Stickers and Decorative Brads. I made one page interactive by adding a vellum pocket. Inside the pocket I included an additional photo and a journaling tag.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this mini album and I just adore how it turned out, it is adorable!

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Year 6 Assembly | Hip Kit Club | Recipe Challenge

Sunday 17 October 2021

Hi everyone! Here is a new layout for Hip Kit Club. I’ve used the September 2021 Kits, which can be found on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/september-2021. I’m playing along with this week’s challenge with is a Recipe Challenge: use blue, four photos and a school theme.

I pulled out lots of exclusive products from the September kits, including that fabulous denim paper. I decided to feature a large portion of this on my layout given that ‘blue’ was an element for the challenge. I tore off a large section and layered it with two more exclusive papers, all raised on foam pads for extra dimension.

I added two exclusive journaling cards from the Pocket Life Kit and then added my four little photos using the line of the torn paper as a guide. I added lots of fussy cut apples and one of the exclusive pockets – how cool are those!

I finished off by adding a small amount of ink and splatters and my journaling. I played around with my title too a few times before getting it right!

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

HALLOWEEN | Bella Blvd | Sketch with Monsters & Friends

Wednesday 13 October 2021

Hi everyone! I have a new layout to share today for Bella Blvd. This week is Sketch week using Monsters & Friends – I love this collection and Halloween is my favourite thing to scrap!

The sketch has three photo blocks on it. I had two photos so for the third one I went looking for items from the Monsters & Friends Cut Apart sheets to use. I found a great square which contains three monsters and the phrase ‘night squad’. This was perfect for my third block.

I used an orange print paper from Monsters & Friends for my background, it has tone-on-tone stars on it and is just fabulous! I trimmed it down and distressed the edges and stuck it to a black background. I added my photo blocks and a strip of black & white polka dot paper, as represented by the sketch.

I then went looking for items to add to the embellishment clusters. I used two 2” squares from the cut-apart sheet and then added embellishments, for example a chipboard ghost and several flowers from the Ephemera.

For my title I wanted to use the Halloween chipboard title but it got lost in the dots of the background paper. To get around this I mounted it first onto a sheet of white Freehand Graph Bella Besties paper from the Monsters & Friends coordinating Bella Besties pack. I trimmed around it so it had a border and this helped it to stand out against the dots perfectly.

I added machine stitching through my title and around the edge of the layout. I also added black splatters of paint and handwrote my journaling. I finished off with some enamel stars.

Thanks so much for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed this super spooky layout!
Happy scrapping

So Happy | Hip Kit Club | September 2021 Kits

Friday 8 October 2021

Hi everyone! Here is a new layout for Hip Kit Club. I’ve used the September 2021 Kits, which can be found on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/september-2021

Today’s assignment is ‘Product Focus’ and I have chosen to focus on the Pinkfresh Studio The Best Day products. I’ve chosen one of the papers for the background of this layout, and used lots of embellishments including two packs of Ephemera, Enamel Dots, Chipboard Flair, Puffy Stickers and Chipboard Frames.

I chose a single photo and decided to create a frame around it with beautiful ephemera flowers. I arranged these cascading from the top of the layout towards the bottom. I’ve added machine stitching to the outside edge of the layout and at three other points too.

I added more flowers and leaves and then added a few of the beautiful Chipboard Flairs and enamel dots. I finished off with splatters of white paint and journaling.

I hope you have enjoyed this layout and happy scrapping

My Sunshine | Bella Blvd | Fall & Cut Files

Wednesday 6 October 2021

Hey everyone! I have a new layout to share today for Bella Blvd using a mixture of collections and papers. Our assignment this week is to create fall layouts using cut files! I have used a Bella Blvd Sunflower cut file available from the Silhouette Design Store.

I started off by cutting the sunflower. I used Bella Besties dots paper in Bell Pepper for the base. For the second colour of leaves I decided to use a Cooper paper and I also used another Cooper paper for the centre of the sunflower. I assembled the sunflower and stuck it onto a green background. For this I used the Hearts & Ombre Bella Besties paper in Pickle Juice. I trimmed it down a bit, distressed the edges and added it to a sheet of white card.

I trimmed my photo into a circle shape and added that to my layout. I went looking for some embellishments to work with this colour scheme and decided to go for the You are my Sunshine collection as it has lots of flowers, bees and suns in it – perfect for sunflower photos!

For my title I wanted to use the ‘you are my Sunshine’ chipboard title from the chipboard stickers. It didn’t show up too well against all the different colours I already had on my layout, so to create some separation, I mounted it first onto some white card and cut around it leaving a narrow white border. This made it stand out very well.

I cut a few leaves using a leaf punch from three colours of patterned paper and positioned these around the layout, mostly clustered around my photo.

I added a bee Bella Pop, chipboard sun and a few sticker from the You are my Sunshine sticker sheet.

I finished off with a few splatters of white paint.

Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have enjoyed this fun layout!
Happy scrapping

School Rocks! | Hip Kit Club | Sketch Challenge with September 2021 Kits

Sunday 3 October 2021

Hey everyone! Here is my latest layout for Hip Kit Club. I’m using the September 2021 kits and have focused on the exclusive items. You can find the September kits on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/september-2021.

I’m playing along with this week’s challenge which is a sketch challenge by the lovely Sophie Delorme. Play along with the challenger over on the Hip Kit Club Group on Facebook.

I started off with the ledger paper which I trimmed down. I punched one side with my notebook punch and then mounted it onto a white cardstock background. I then went through all the gorgeous exclusive ephemera and pulled out lots of school-themed items. I layered up books, a pocket, a calculator, a lightbulb, a notebook and a set square with my photo in the centre of the layout.

I fussy cut lots of colourful apples from one of the exclusive papers. I added some of these to the main cluster and also created a section with them at the bottom of the layout. This area was represented on the sketch and the fussy cut apples were perfect.

To create the cascading leaf effect represented on the sketch, I added wooden numbers instead. I really love how this looks!

I added an exclusive title from the Puffy Title Stickers: School Rocks! I also added more ephemera to the layout and handwrote my journaling. I added machine stitching all around the outside of the layout and through all the apples.

I finished off with a few splatters of Orange Sherbet Shimmerz Paint from the September Color Kit.

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping
