Together | Simple Stories | Simple Vintage Cottage Fields

Monday 31 January 2022

Here is another layout for Simple Stories using Simple Vintage Cottage Fields which is a collection I really love because it is just so pretty! I’ve picked out the blues and greens from this collection for this layout.

I started with a ‘half and half’ design. I really loved the butterfly paper so I used that on one half of the layout and used a sheet of Simple Vintage Cottage Fields Basics paper for the other side. I distressed the edges of the butterfly paper and then arranged my photos over the middle section.

I wanted to use the chipboard frames but there were none that fitted my photos. So I cut one in half and sort of tucked my photo into it. My photo was a bit too narrow but after I had mounted it onto black paper it looked much better and I was pleased I managed to use one of the frames because I love them so much.

I then tucked items from the Bits & Pieces and Floral bits around the photos, creating a diagonal design. I mostly used flowers and hearts. I then added a few label stickers from the sticker sheet. I love these stickers which always have the most lovely phrases. Some that I used on this layout are ‘dream big’, ‘the best ever’, ‘all my heart’ and ‘one fine day’.

For my title I used the word ‘together’ from the foam stickers. I finished off the layout with some journaling and some splatters of white acrylic paint. I also dotted a few Decorative Brads around the layout too, they are always the perfect addition.

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Happiness | Simple Stories | Simple Vintage Cottage Fields

Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Simple Stories using the Simple Vintage Cottage Fields collection. This collection is really very pretty. I was instantly drawn to the paper with the pink gingham print and decided to make this my background. I cut a large square out of the middle and backed this with a sheet from the Simple Vintage Cottage Fields Basics Kit.

I mounted my photo into one of the chipboard frames. These frames are always so gorgeous and I love the details on them. I added this to the bottom left corner of the square. I then cut up the 2x2 Elements paper and picked out some of my favourite squares.

I spent some time distressing all the edges of the squares and I also machine stitched around the edges of some with black thread. I then positioned these onto the layout, tucked inside the frame and well as some on top too.

I then added to the frame feature with foam stickers, label stickers and Decorative Brads. I wanted a mixture of different small embellishments around all the squares.

I added a title using one of the foam stickers ‘happiness’ and I finished off with journaling and splatters of white acrylic paint.

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Happiest | Hip Kit Club | Color Challenge

Sunday 30 January 2022

Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Hip Kit Club using the beautiful December 2021 Kits. You can find the December Kits on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/december-2021.

Today I’m playing along with the weekly challenge which is a Color Challenge and is to make a monochromatic layout. I chose to go for blue tones for this layout. I started with a white background and then picked out lots of different blue bits and pieces from the kits.

I cut some strips of light blue patterned paper and layered these vertically on the background. I added my photo and a chipboard frame. I then created a large embellishment cluster on the bottom right corner of the photo consisting of ephemera, puffy stickers and snowflakes cut using the metal dies. I added a much smaller cluster on the top left corner too to help balance out the large cluster.

I added my title on the vertical down the right side of the photo.

I finished off with splashes of white paint and a few splatters of black ink too! I really love how this one turned out.

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Oh What Fun! Simple Stories Holly Days

Thursday 27 January 2022

Hey everyone, here is a new layout using the Holly Days collection by Simple Stories. I wanted to document a not-so-fun Christmas story from this Christmas just gone and Holly Days is my favourite Christmas collection so this is what I used!

Unfortunately my daughter tested positive for Covid six days before Christmas! My son then also tested positive. So our lead-up to Christmas was a little different to what we were expecting but we made the best of it and we were really in the best place ever for quarantine…a vacation home in a hot country with a swimming pool, so it was not so bad! They also had no symptoms which was really lucky and the remaining members of the family didn’t catch it so all round our Covid experience was quite a good one!

I started off by tearing the checked paper multiple times. I created wavy lines with it for the top and the bottom of my layout. I used both sides of the paper to create the different patterns and I curled the torn edges and distressed them so they had lots of dimension.

I added my two photos to the bottom right side of the layout, tucked beneath the paper layers. To the left of the photos I added a Bramble Fox acrylic embellishment that came in an Advent Calendar (the best Advent calendar ever!) which was a FaLaLa Christmas train. I tucked it in so it looked like the train was driving over the wavy torn paper strips.

For my title I used ‘oh what fun’ from the Simple Stories Foam Stickers and I also added a subtitle to my photo ‘Covid for Christmas’ using a combination of alphabet stickers from the Holly Days Sticker book and a word label. I added tags from the Tags paper behind my photo and I tied these though with ribbons.

I wanted to balance out the very large cluster containing the photos, so I created a smaller embellishment cluster at the top left corner of the layout with flower stickers, holly leaves acrylic by Bramble Fox and label stickers.

I wrote my journaling following he wavy line of the paper at the top of the layout and finished off with white paint splatters.

Even though this isn’t the most fun story, it is real life and those things need documenting! So I’m super pleased I have this story documented and in my album. I hope you enjoyed it despite the subject!
Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Snow Much Fun | Hip Kit Club | Product Focus

Friday 21 January 2022

Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Hip Kit Club using the beautiful December 2021 Kits. You can find the December Kits on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/december-2021.

I’m focusing on the exclusive Ephemera packs in the December kits today. I was also challenged to include three photos in a creative way. I turned my three photos into a photo booth style strip which is something a bit different for me and definitely took me out of my comfort zone!

I used some of the patterned paper on the right of the layout and added second pattern for interest. I love the soft colours in these papers. I added my photo strip to the middle and then started adding the ephemera pieces.

I focused mostly on snowflakes due to the subject of my photo and attempted to embellish colour-on-colour style with the pinks at the bottom left and the blues at the top right. I used chipboard frames, a journaling spot and lots of snowflakes and stars. I also tucked in some flowers and leaves. Those ombre puffy stickers from the Main kit are so pretty!

For my title I used the two different alphabet stickers from the kits to create ‘snow much fun’ with the emphasis on the word ‘much’.

I finished with splashes of white paint and handwrote my journaling.

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

So Super | Bella Blvd | To the Moon and a Sketch

Thursday 20 January 2022

Hi everyone! Here is a new layout for Bella Blvd using the fabulous To the Moon collection and I’m also playing along with this month’s wonderful sketch by Brianna.

I completely adore the sketch and stuck to it pretty closely. I love circles and I love stars so this was pretty much perfect for me!

My photo is of my little boy dressed as Superman, so I picked out the colours from the collection that were Superman colours: red, blue and yellow. I then cut the large circle from red heart paper using old school methods: a compass, pencil and scissors! I distressed the edges (to cover up my wobbly cutting!) and stitched around the edge with black machine stitching.

I cut more circles and stars from the other papers using metal dies. I positioned the shapes on the layout and turned the stars into 3D stars by scoring and folding them.

I added my photo and a journaling card too and got all of my shapes stuck in place. I also punched more stars from black card and added those to the clusters too.

I used the black Florence Alphabet Stickers to create my title. I stuck them onto some white card first and trimmed around them leaving a narrow white border which makes them stand out well against the busy paper behind it.

I finished off by adding a few little ephemera pieces and then I handwrote my journaling around the edge of the large circle. I also added a few splatters of white paint to the clusters.

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Theo Right Now | Simple Stories | Good Stuff

Friday 14 January 2022

Hey everyone! I have another layout to share using Simple Stories Good Stuff. I have loved playing around with this collection and see so much potential in it for makes. Too many ideas and not enough time lol!

My inspiration was really sparked by the set of numbers in the Journal Bits pack. Every so often I make a ’10 things’ style layout about my children. I haven’t made one for a while and decided that these numbers were perfect for such a layout.

I used a sheet of white card for my background. I positioned numbers 1-10 onto my layout with my small photo of my boy in the middle section. I added a border sticker from the Cardstock Stickers to add a bit of interest to my white background.

I layered my photo with the peach shaped journal spot from the Journaling Bits Pack. I also added the Right Now Foam Sticker and also added ‘Theo’ from the alphabet stickers in the Sticker Book.

To each number I added a small journaling spot. Most of these came from the Journal Bits pack. Some are tags, some are very small tags and some are speech bubbles or labels. I wrote a fact about my boy on each one…these are the things I might forget about him when he grows up so it’s great to have a way to record them.

I added a few other small embellishments to each number: Decorative Brads, Puffy Stickers and enamel dots. I finished with a few splatters of white paint.

I felt that my white layout needed a border as it was all looking a bit too white, so I choose the most colourful patterned paper from the collection and trimmed four strips. I pieced these together mitering the corners to create a striped effect all the way around the edge of the layout.

I love how this layout turned out. Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Magical | Hip Kit Club | Mixed Media Monday

Wednesday 12 January 2022

Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Hip Kit Club using the beautiful December 2021 Kits. You can find the December Kits on the Hip Kit Club website here: https://www.hipkitclub.net/december-2021.

Today is Mixed Media Monday so I have focused on the December Color Kit and also on the beautiful metal dies.

I started by applying the Nuvo Galcier paste through the snowflake stencil onto an area on a white cardstock background. I let this dry completely before adding anything else. I then added chipboard frames and my photo which I mounted onto a Pocket Life card.

I tucked in lots of the beautiful exclusive ephemera pieces, particularly leaves. I also added puffy leaves. I tucked in several dark blue snowflakes that I cut with the metal dies and used the word ‘magical’ for my title, which was also cut from the metal dies.

I added smaller snowflakes cut with the metal dies and then added other small embellishments such as label stickers and chipboard pieces.

I finished with splashes of white paint and lots of the Silver Crystals Nuvo Glitter Drops – they are so gorgeous!

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Oh Yeah! | Simple Stories | Good Stuff

Monday 10 January 2022

Hey everyone, here is another layout for Simple Stories using the Good Stuff collection. I’m really enjoying the colours and generic theme of this collection…it is so easy to use!

For this layout I was inspired by the patterned paper that has a kraft background with large different coloured spots on. I started off by tearing a large section of this paper which I stuck onto the left side of a white background. I cut out the circles from the rest of the paper and positioned them onto my white background.

I added my photo to one of the gorgeous Good Stuff chipboard frames. I added this, together with a journaling card, from another sheet of patterned paper to the layout and also added one of the Foam Stickers titles ‘oh yeah!’ to the corner of the frame.

I tucked in a number of ephemera pieces around my photo frame, from the Bits & Pieces pack including ‘yes’, flowers, a rainbow, an iced coffee, ice cream and ‘good times’ I also added a few chipboard stickers too.

I decided to turn the circles on the right of the page into little fireworks by piercing a hole in the middle and lots of holes around the edges and stitching with long stitches. Once I’d done them all I could think was that they reminded me of viruses rather than fireworks, which is quite apt really as two days after our visit to Disney, two of my children tested positive for Covid! Thankfully all was fine, they had no symptoms and no one else in the household caught it but those little fireworks will now always be viruses lol!

I finished off with a few Decorative Brads, label stickers from the Cardstock Stickers and enamel dots and I wrote my journaling to the left of my photo. I underlined the writing to make it stand out a little better against the pattern.

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Fun | Simple Stories | Good Stuff

Hey everyone here is a new layout for Simple Stories using the Good Stuff collection which is brand new and completely amazing! I love the colours in this collection and the fun everyday icons and phrases. It is perfect for scrapbooking almost anything!

For this layout I have chosen to document a recent photo of us on the rapids ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Because the raft we were riding was a large circular shape I mimicked that on this page by going with a circle theme. I love using circles anyway so this was fun!

I started off with a large circle cut from patterned paper with spots all over it. I distressed the edges and added it to the middle of a white background. I cut more circles from patterned paper and from a journaling card too.

I mounted my photo onto more patterned paper and then added all the circles and my photo to my layout. I also picked out all the circle shapes I could find in the Bits & Pieces pack and the Journal Bits pack. I arranged these onto the layout too, together with hearts from the Foam Stickers, Decorative Brads and enamel dots.

For my title I used the word Fun from the Foam Stickers but I also used ‘Do It again’ ephemera from the Bits & Pieces as it went so well with my photo. My daughter and I were reluctant to go on the rapids ride as we didn’t want to get wet and the boys teased us all day about going on it again so it was a great addition for my layout.

I finished off with a few label stickers from the Cardstock Sticker sheet, my journaling and a few splatters of white paint.

I hope you enjoyed this layout and thanks so much for joining me today

Happy scrapping
