Hi
everyone, I have a new layout to share today for Simple Stories. I’m using the
Simple Vintage Farmhouse Garden collection which is a beautiful new collection.
I decided
to challenge myself and use a printed patterned paper that has a ‘scene’ on it.
These can be challenging to use and often I wouldn’t use them as a full
background but I really loved this paper and decided to go for it! I trimmed it
down and mounted it onto a black and white check paper and added machine
stitching around the edges.
I trimmed
around some of the leaves on the left side of the paper and slotted one of my
photos underneath – this helped to make the background paper come to life a
little more rather than being a purely flat design. I added some pieces of
ephemera, from both the Garden Bits pack and the Bits & Pieces pack around
my photos to add layers of interest. I also mounted my photos onto journaling
cards from one of the cut apart papers. On the right side of my photos I added
more ephemera, including a fussy cut chicken from a journaling card. I specifically
wanted to include chickens as my photos were of my children feeding the
chickens at our local farm and the chickens in this collection were perfect!
I added
some stickers from the Sticker Book at the bottom of the photo and at the
bottom of the layout. I added a few gingham Ephemera hearts that I raised on
foam pads and I added some of the beautiful Decorative Brads. These are
adhesive so really easy to attach.
For my
title I reached for the Color Vibe Alphas Basics sticker book. I really love
these because they provide multiple fonts in multiple colours! I used the fark
grey colour to create my title: Pecking Order. I used block alphas for the
first word and tile alphas for the second word – I love how this looks!
To finish off
I added some splatters of white paint to the layout – there were already white
paint splatters as part of the design of this background paper so I just added
a few more around my clusters. I also handwrote in my journaling.
Thank you
so much for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed this layout using
Simple Stories Simple Vintage Farmhouse Garden.
Happy
scrapping
