Our Happy Place Mini Album | Hip Kit Club | December 2020 Kits

Tuesday 5 January 2021

Hi everyone, here is my latest project for Hip Kit Club and it is a mini album. My assignment today was to be inspired by the January moodboard which is full of pretty snowy scenes, but also to use the Journaling Bits that came in the December Main kit. I spread them all out and decided that they were just crying out to be made into a mini album!

I layered them on top of each other and figured out what order I wanted them to be in and then I bound them together using small strips of vellum. I basically created hinges out of these vellum strips, which I sandwiched in-between the layers of my album. The result is a spine that is pretty much invisible!

To the front of my album I added stitching, pom pom trim and a chipboard house. I loved the tag that says 'Our Happy Place' so that became the title for my album. We have spent a lot of time at home this year and it really is our happy place (although totally not perfect and quite chaotic most of the time) so I thought I would use this album to document some of the activities that have kept us sane this season.

I decorated the inside of my album with machine stitching, and lots of embellishments from the December kits. I love the chipboard items and the puffy stickers, especially the stars! I added my photos inside the pockets and envelopes and handwrote in my journaling too.

I felt the album needed a closure so I made a sleeve out of patterned paper to wrap around the outside of the album and added pink twill ribbon to this so I could tie it in a bow at the side. I also added a house sticker, a couple of acetate pieces, a bow and a label chipboard sticker that says 'our happy place'. I was so happy I could repeat that phrase on the outside of the sleeve too.

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Niki xx
