I’m keeping
my album more simple this year. Last year I made it rather complicated, and
whilst I love what I created, the overall project wasn’t as enjoyable as past
years as I spend so much time on every page. So this year is stripped back and
is much more simple and has been far more enjoyable which is ultimately what
makes me happy.
For Days 21
and 22 I have focused on red as my main colour. Day 21 is a white card base
with four square photo mounts from the red gingham print from the Make it Merry
6x8 Paper Pad. I distressed the edges of each and stitched with white machine stitching.
They are all in a strip on the right side of the page. These could hold four
photos, or less, depending on what photos I take that day. I could easily also
turn those into journaling spots too. This allows me to have some flexibility.
On the left side of the page I’ve created a little cluster with two poinsettias
from the Make it Merry Bits & Pieces, and my number which is a sticker from
the Make it Merry Sticker Book on a glittery punched circle. I’ve added Decorative
Brads and some Enamel Dots.
Day 22 is a
red patterned paper background and I’ve created a block at the top for two
photos and a journaling card from the Bits & Pieces pack. Underneath the
block I’ve punched circles from one of the Make It Merry papers and my number.
I also added a few stickers from the Cardstock Stickers and Enamel Dots.
For Day 23
I decided to make a hanging sign out of my photo for that day, inspired by the hanging
sign icon in the Make It Merry collection. I often look to the icons in the
collection I’m using for inspiration and this was one of those times! Currently
I have a white photo placeholder with woodgrain strips of paper top and bottom.
I’ve added some white cord around a Decorative Brad for the hanging. At the bottom
of the sign I added my number together with a few Bits & Pieces.
Day 24 is
super simple. The black background is an insert that came with the Make it
Merry album. I’ve added a full sized photo placeholder to the background.
Across the bottom I cut a strip of Make it Merry paper and machine stitched it
to the bottom with zig zag stitch. This creates a fold down section. I
decorated the front with my number, Decorative Brads and ‘falala’ stickers from
the Foam Stickers. Inside the fold down section I plan to add some journaling
and maybe some further embellishments.
Day 25 is
Christmas Day so is a double spread. The left side is the back of the insert
used for Day 24, and is lime green. I’ve added a full sized photo placeholder
to this page together with a small embellishment cluster made from Bits &
Pieces and a foam arrow. This is tacked into place for now and can be moved
around when the photo is in place.
The right
side of Day 25 is a white background with a piece of lime green Make it Merry
on the right side. I machine stitched around the outside edge of this page which
created a vertical pocket. I embellished the outside of the pocket with ‘Good
Cheer’ foam sticker and the large 25 number from the Make it Merry Number Bits
pack. Inside the pocket I’ve put in the Very Merry Memories Insert from the
Make it Merry album, and I’ve also created a little mini album too. The mini
album is made from the 3x4 Elements paper and is folded and stuck together to
make a 3”x4” booklet. I can add photos from Christmas Day in here and journaling
and of course more embellishments!
For Day 26
I have used a cut file of stacked gifts which I have backed with different Make
it Merry papers. I’ve kept this page very simple, with the cut file on the left
side and ‘JOY’ from the Foam Stickers down on the bottom right. I’ve only added
my number, a few Cardstock Stickers and some Decorative Brads for decoration
but I can always add more after I have my photos printed and added.
So that’s
it for today! Check back next month for more December Album pages made with
Holly Days next time! I have you have enjoyed seeing this process, I can’t wait
for December to begin now!
Happy
scrapping
