Thank you for waiting patiently for this week's Only Scraps Allowed challenge - it's a day late because I am hosting this week's UK Scrappers challenge and it needed to be posted yesterday.
This week's Only Scraps Allowed challenge is to use REAL journalling on your layout, not just the date or the place but REAL journalling. I've been waiting until the right time to scrap this photo of my little baby just 3 hours old. She was born 7 weeks early and her early arrival was a bit of a surprise. I find these photos of her in hospital hooked up to every machine going quite hard to look at let alone scrap but now she's 15 months old I am there and have done a few lately but this one was her first photo and it deserved the story of her birth.
I had a background paper in mind (the one of the left) and I pulled out a few scraps to work with too:
There is a LOT of writing on this layout! The pattern on the paper was quite muted and it was therefore quite easy to write over the top of it. I knew I wanted the majority of the layout devoted to journalling but I obviously needed to get the photo on there too so I clustered all my scraps down in the bottom left corner and the rest of the layout was free for my epic journalling!
(Have just noticed that I've got the date wrong! How did that happen?! Rushing off to change it to '11!)
These flowers are by Prima who make the best flowers in the world ever. Fact.
To join in with this weeks challenge simply create a layout using only scraps (one whole sheet allowed for the background and but feel free to add any embellishments you like) and use REAL journalling on your layout. Link your layouts below xx
Fabulous page, love how the journalling looks on the page. My 2nd son was born 7th May 2011 but was only 1 day early weighing 11lb 10ozs so needed no help whatsoever. Glad your daughters fine now and that your able to scrap these photos!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful LO and a wonderful way to capture those precious moments.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind but I've entered the same LO for this challenge and the 52 week challenge.
This is beautiful Niki. Your poor little baby looks so fragile amongst the pretty elements of your design. I'm so pleased she is well now and you can look back at these photos and breath a sigh of relief and thankfulness! Hugs, Lesley
