52 Layouts Step-by-Step #10 Flower Girl

Friday 10 August 2012

I can't believe that I'm up to week 10 already of this series - that's almost a 5th of the way through!

This week's layout is another wedding one for that wedding album of mine I'm working on. I do feel that I'll be working on it forever as I've only scrapped about 10 photos/parts of the day so far and there's actually about 900 photos in total. I wonder if I'll ever do them all...

The supplies you need to join in this week are:
In the picture I have:
3 x patterned papers
2 x cardstock - I actually only used one i the end
Some flower stickers
Ribbon & a ribbon slider (mine is a little diamante one, it's sitting on the bottom right corner of the photograph but you can barely see it)
Alpha stickers
Heart punch

Step 1
Choose your background paper. I've gone for one of my patterned papers but the pattern is very subtle. The paper is mainly cream with just a hint of lavender and a very light script

Step 2
Cut one of the patterned papers to 5x12". Ink the edges and stick horizontally across the layout, approximately 2 3/4" down from the top edge of the background paper.

Step 3
Cut two small strips from another patterned paper 1 x 5". Ink the edges of both and stick vertically to the centre of the large layer already stuck down, ensuring that they overlap.

Step 4
Trim a 6x4" portrait photo down to 5x4" and mount onto plain card 5 1/4 x 4 1/4". Then stick to the left side of the layout.

Step 5
Cut a journalling box 5 x 4 1/2" out of the same colour card you have just mounted your photo onto and stick it to the right side of the layout. (If your card is too dark for journalling then perhaps cut it to this size anyway and cut another piece of white or cream to 1/4" smaller to sit inside it.)

Step 6
Cut two strips of patterned paper 12x 3/4"  (I've used the B side of one of my existing papers that happens to be quite plain) and create decorative edges along both of them using a border punch. Stick one under the photo leaving about a 1/2" gap. Save the other for later.
Step 7
Add some ribbon right the way across the layout, covering the edge of the lower strip - add in your ribbon slider if you have one but make sure it is off centre, over to the right a bit.

Step 8
Add some flowers to three different places on the layout. Build up the embellishment in those areas using punched hearts (or alternative). If you are punching hearts out of patterned papers then make sure you ink the edges of them to finish them off. I also added a couple of hearts to the top left of my journalling box too.

Step 9
Add a title above the photo. Remember that decorative strip we made earlier? Cut that into two so that you have some either side of your title.

Step 10
Write your journalling into the journalling box...

...and now you're done!
Hopefully you found that one to be quite an easy one, I know I found it simple to put together. If you join in this week then make sure you link your layouts at the bottom so I can see what you made!

Moving onto next week's layout, here are the supplies you'll need to join in:
3 sheets of patterned paper
a 5x7 landscape photo
Alpha stickers
ricrac or ribbon
washi tape
some chipboard butterflies (or equivalent) There's loads in the photo above but I've only used a few.
4 x circular embellishments - mine are sun shapes with lines in the middle for journalling. Circles would do and could easily be punched
2 x manilla tags
a couple of scraps of other patterned papers

Thanks for joining in xx
