Fantastic Ribbons Christmas Project

Sunday, 9 December 2012

Hi Lovelies

This month the fabulous Design Team over at Fantastic Ribbons are making Christmas home decor projects. There have been some really amazing ideas so far, some I will definitely be trying!

I've gone for decorating my Christmas table. I've made a tree which will be a centre-piece  and I've also made napkin rings and place names for everyone I've got coming over.

The tree was made by rolling a piece of A4 card into a cone shape and securing in place with tape. I chopped off the bottom and the top to make them level and then got sticking. I cut LOADS of ribbon tabs then started adding them one by one from the bottom up. I stapled on the first two layers but then my stapler wouldn't reach any further so I had to resort to double sided tape. I finished off the top with pearl pins, scrunched up some wired ribbon and poked it through the hole in the top, then wrapped some green ribbon around and tied it in a bow - hey presto!
(of course the whole thing would have been much simpler with a styrofoam cone and pins but I went for the hard way!)

The napkin rings were made with wide wired ribbon which is just secured at the back. The poinsettia is made from three red ribbon loops and one green one. I layered them on top of each other and secured. A button in the middle really finishes it off.

And finally the place cards were super simple - a bit of washi tape and some ribbon on the left side!

Hope you like these little projects and feel free to give them a try!

Thanks for looking xx

A Christmas Card for my Special Little Girl

Saturday, 8 December 2012

I LOVED this week's Sketch Saturday sketch! It was completely perfect for a card I had in mind for my little girl. Now I appreciate at 19 months old she won't appreciate the effort that went in to it, but hopefully in about 16 or so years she might do!

I've used a Sugar Nellie image, the Lacey Circles Nestabilities die, crochet trim and Prima flowers.

I was going to cut her out and stick her on the circle but I would have lost a lot of the detail so I stamped her directly onto the circle which meant only the star on her wand was missing, so I stamped that again onto another piece of card then decoupaged it onto the circle.

This cluster of flowers was quite tricky. I firstly stuck on the very large poinsettia (which can barely be seen now!) and the punched snowflakes, and then the Prima flowers but there was too much of a size difference so I took them all off again and added the crocheted flowers, then the Prima flowers, then the crochet bow and finally the pins. I swore quite a lot during this process as they all kept moving and wouldn't stay where I wanted them! I got there eventually though and am really pleased with the result!

Finally I had to fit in a sentiment somehow so I printed one on my PC and stuck it to the bottom right corner of the card - it's now on the sketch but my excuse is 'artistic license' and I'm sticking to it!

This week's Sketch Saturday sketch is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp and there is a prize on offer so make sure you head on over and join in!

52 Layouts #27 Father Christmas Has Been!

Friday, 7 December 2012

Morning Scrappers

I've gone all festive for the first 52 Layouts of December with a double Christmas layout!

To join in this week you will need:
Two pieces of cardstock the same colour for the background
Another piece of cardstock
Two pieces of patterned paper
Large & small alphabet stickers (I actually used different ones to those pictured)
Flower embellishments
Trim
Sticky pearls (not pictured)
Four 6x4 portrait photos

Step 1
Choose the colour for your background and lay the two pieces side by side.

Step 2
Cut two strips of patterned paper 2.5x12" and stick them across the bottom of the layout

Step 3
Trim all your photos down to 4 x 5.75 and then mount the first two (from the left page) onto a piece of cardstock 6x8 1/8th but make sure the right photo is flush with the right edge of this piece of card. Do exactly the same for the other two photos and another piece of cardstock the same size, but make sure the left photo is flush with the left edge of this piece of card. Stick the photos to the layout making sure they meet perfectly in the middle.

Step 4
Cut two pieces of another patterned paper both to 2.5 x6" and stick these either side of the photos.

Step 5
Add a couple of pieces of trim.

Step 6
Add some flowers to the bottom two corners of the photos

Step 7
Cut some circles from the remaining patterned paper and stick these into the centres of the flowers as well as a few extras that can be stuck around the flowers.
Step 8
Add sticky pearls around the two flower clusters.

Step 9
Add a title using large & small alphabet stickers above the photos.

Step 10
Hand write in your journaling directly onto the cardstock underneath the far right photo and add a subtitle if desired using small alphabet stickers.

Here is the full layout all finished! Quite an easy one this week. You could make the background a bit more interesting by adding mist or alternatively using patterned paper instead of card.

Hope you like this one and feel free to play along and make the same layout!

Happy December scrappers!

Kit Release: December Week1 'Belief'

Wednesday, 5 December 2012

The Kit contains:
2 x Chapter1 patterned papers
1 x Chapter1 specialty die-cut paper
2 x coordinating Bazzill cardstock
My Mind's Eye Lush alphabet stickers

I've used my whole kit this week for one layout but it's a double so please let me off!
I used one of the patterned papers as the background on the right and one of the Bazzill cardstock sheets as the background on the left. I cut the die cut into two pieces and stuck it across the centre of the layout to give continuity across the layout and added bits of the other papers for embellishment.

Here is Kirei's layout - take a look at her blog for more details on how she made it.

This kit costs £8.75 and can be purchased here or you can subscribe monthly - enjoy!!

Sketch Saturday - Birthday Girl

Saturday, 1 December 2012

Happy Saturday sketchers!

As always we have another brilliant sketch for you this week at Sketch Saturday:
I've taken a break from Christmas and made a birthday card this week for a special friend. I'd better not say who as it's not her birthday just yet, I'm getting organised!

I've used a Stamping Bella stamp called 'Ava Loves to Celebrate'. I love the Uptown Girls stamps, they are quite big so are great for colouring. You can get Stamping Bella stamps from our sponsor this week, My Mum's Craft Shop.
(I wish my legs were this skinny!)

Our sponsor this week is the lovely My Mum's Craft Shop and they do a fab range of stamps as well as loads of other things and they are offering us a prize so hop on over to Sketch Saturday to join in and be in with a chance of winning!

52 Layouts #26 Emergency Bath Time

Friday, 30 November 2012

It's week 26 of the 52 Layouts series which means I'm half way through!

To join in this week you will need:
Three patterned papers
One piece of cardstock
A 6x4 landscape photo and another smaller portrait photo capable of being trimmed to 2.75x4"
Alphabet stickers large & small
a couple of different trims
Some embellishments - I've gone for a glittery leaf, an Ornate Plate and a button.

Step 1
Choose a background and gut a piece from the centre 6.5 x 4.5".

Step 2
Cut cardstock to 10.25" square and stick to the centre of the background paper.

Step 3
Cut patterned paper to 10" square and stick down.

Step 4
Cut a strip of patterned paper to 5.5x10" and stick to the right of the layout.

Step 5
Add a trim down the centre of the layout.

Step 6
Mount a 6x4" photo onto patterned paper 6.5x4.5" (the piece the was gutted from the centre of the background paper)  and stick to layout but do not stick the top edge as this will form a pocket.

Step 7  GROSS PHOTO ALERT, LOOK AWAY NOW IF SQUEAMISH!!
Cut a portrait photo down to 2.75x4" and mount onto patterned paper 3 x 4.75". Cut the top into a tag shape. The back of my tag needed decorating too as the pattern was very bold as I wouldn't have been able to write in any journaling so I cut another tag shape and stuck it to the back then added some cream card and a decorative strip on the right side.  Cut a hole in the top of the tag and tie through some trim. Then insert the tag into the pocket behind the photo.

Step 8
Add a title.

Step 9
Add some embellishments.

Step 10
Write in your subtitle and journaling.

And here is the layout all finished!

Sorry for the gross photo - that's why it's hidden in a pocket!  Hope you enjoy joining in!

Kit Release: November Week 4 'Pomegranate'

Wednesday, 28 November 2012

Morning All

This week's kit release features some of the totally gorgeous 'Tigerlilly range by Kaisercraft:
The kit contains:
3 x Tigerlily patterned papers
2 x coordinating cardstock
Die cut Tigerlily 'Collectables.

My first layout makes use of one of the patterned papers as the background together with a few strips of the others to make a feature behind the photo. I've used one of the word collectables as my title.

My second layout uses cardstock as the background and I've used as many of the collectables as was suitable for my layout. There are still loads left though! I've also used alphabet stickers leftover from a previous kit.

Kirei has gone less pink than me and focused more on the orange tones in the papers and collectables and she's added a title from her own stash. Check out her blog for more details on how she made it.

This kit costs just £5.90 and it can be purchased HERE.

Happy scrapping xx
