Joy | Simple Stories | Mix & a-Mingle

Tuesday, 22 November 2022

Hi everyone, here is a new layout for Simple Stories, using the fabulously festive Mix & a-Mingle collection! I fell in love with this collection the moment I saw it, the colours are totally my thing and all the icons and words are super cute.

I used patterned paper for my background with a white border. I then cut three circles from three more patterned papers. I distressed the edges and added machine stitching around all three, with red thread.

I also used a couple of tags from the Tags paper. I think this sheet is almost as good as having another pack of embellishments! I cut these apart, distressed the edges and added twine.

I backed my photos and then began adding lots of embellishments. I loved the trees and Santa icons, plus I also added a bird, gingerbread cookies, snowflakes and coffee cups. Some are from the Bits & Pieces, and some are stickers from the Cardstock Stickers.

I also added decorative brads and my title which is from the Bits & Pieces pack. I also added pink enamel dots in a curved formation at the top left point of my circle.

I finished off with splatters of white paint and I handwrote my title around the edge of the large circle. Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping!

This Many | GoGo Shopaway | Jen Hadfield Stardust Collection

Monday, 21 November 2022

Hi everyone! Here is a new layout for GoGo Shopaway using the Jen Hadfield Stardust collection. This collection isn’t themed, but it does have some balloons in it so I picked out as many as I could and made a birthday layout.

I started by cutting a large circle from a white background, and backed it with balloon print paper and also added pretty pom pom trim around the edge.

I then created two clusters, one with my photo and more balloons and another one opposite with lots of pretty embellishments from Stardust.

I used the gorgeous Stardust Thickers to add my title ‘this many’ which didn’t show up as well as I’d hoped against the busy balloon print, so I outlined the letters with a black journaling pen which helped.

I finished off with sequins by Spiegelmom Scraps and a few Perspextives by Bramble Fox: the big ‘Celebrate’ in the middle which was the perfect colour match, and two blue and yellow cupcakes. I also added lots of splatters of silver paint and handwrote my journaling around the edge of the circle.

Check out the Stardust collection over at GoGo Getaway online shop!

Seven is the Number... | For the Love of Pretty Paper Sketch

Sunday, 20 November 2022

Hi everyone, here is a new layout I made playing along with the November sketch over on For the Love of Pretty Paper Facebook Group. The sketch had a border of tags so I’ve used the Simple Stories Family Fun collection to document photos of my daughter’s school play which was all about board games!

I made the border of tags, added my photos and then used the empty space in the middle for my title. I also embellished the tags with lots of little bits and pieces and some Bramble Fox perspextives too.

Happy scrapping

Amazing | Pinkfresh Studio Good Times

Tuesday, 8 November 2022

Well it's very rare that I make a layout just for fun, but it does occasionally happen! I made this layout playing along with the November Pinkfresh Studio challenge, which is to add texture to your layout.

I fussy cut ALL the leaves from a sheet of Good Times paper, folded and curled every one and added them to my layout around a circular frame. Most are raised on foam pads to give them extra dimension.

I love how this layout turned out and it was so lovely to make a layout just for fun! The Pinkfresh Studio Good Times collection is available at GoGo Shopaway.

Happy scrapping

Fun Ahoy | GoGo Shopaway | Jen Hadfield Stardust

Monday, 7 November 2022

Hi everyone! Here is a new layout and video for GoGo Shopaway using the Jen Hadfield Stardust Collection.

I loved the wavy side of the Stardust Lucky Charm paper. It has a pretty pink rainbow print on one side and these waves on the other. It pained me not to use the rainbows…perhaps I’ll have to get myself a second sheet!

I cut the waves apart, distressed the edges and stuck them back together again on a white background. I added my photo together with lots of bits from the Foam Phrase Thickers – these are great for extra embellishments as well as words and titles.

I also used one of the rosette stickers – I love that there is a whole pack of pre-made rosettes in this collection as I LOVE rosettes! I then added more embellishments from the Stardust Ephemera, Foam Phrase Thickers, Sticker Book and the Enamel Shapes, in a colour-on-colour fashion. I also added some Spiegelmom Scraps sequins and Perspextives by Bramble Fox: the Fun Ahoy title as well as the little passport and pink camera!

I finished off with lots of splatters of white paint around my photo.

Thank you so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Stay Original | GoGo Getaway Cybercrop Colour Challenge

Thursday, 27 October 2022

Hi everyone, I’m sharing my layout today from the recent GoGo Getaway Cybercrop which was a colour challenge.

I used the very gorgeous new Jen Hadfield Stardust collection for this layout and used a sheet of words & phrases. I carefully cut out the middle of the paper, fussy cutting round all the coloured blocks to create an abstract border. I then backed this paper with white card, added my photo and embellished in a few places. I kept my embellishments quite minimal as the background was so busy!

Thanks so much for looking, I hope you enjoy this layout!

Happy scrapping

Year 7 | Simple Stories | Life Captured

Tuesday, 25 October 2022

Hi everyone, here is another layout using the new Life Captured Collection by Simple Stories. I’ve made another traditional 12x12 layout, but this collection is also perfect for pocket-style scrapbooking, so if you do that then you should definitely check out this collection!

I decided to scrap a school photo of my daughter. She’s just started secondary school and was the only one from her primary school to go there, so she knew no one. She’s so brave and confident, and when I saw a whole page of noticeboard affirmations in the Life Captured Sticker Book, I knew these would be perfect on a layout about her and her new school journey.

I stuck all the affirmations onto some white card and trimmed around them so they all had white edges. I selected two papers from the Life Captured 12x12 papers, the blue ditsy heart paper and the kraft with white dots. The blue pattern was perfect as the photo has a blue background so this worked well.

I added my photo to a clipboard ephemera that was from the Journal Bits and then started arranging all the elements onto the layout. I trimmed down both the papers and arranged them, offset, onto a white card background. I then arranged the clipboard and 11 affirmations onto the layout in row formation – it reminds me of a giant noticeboard!

I embellished the layout with lots of stationery items that I selected from the Bits & Pieces and Chipboard Stickers. I popped these up on foam pads to give the layout lots of dimension.

I made my title using the little tile stickers from the Sticker Book which I stuck onto white card and trimmed out. I also used the number ‘7’ from the Bits & Pieces.

I finished off by handwriting my journaling and adding some splatters of white paint.

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Follow Your Heart | Simple Stories | Life Captured

Hi everyone, here is the first layout I’ve made using the Life Captured Collection by Simple Stories. I adore the colours in this collection and there are so many lovely phrases that are perfect for everyday life.

I’ve made traditional 12x12 layouts with this collection but it would also be perfect for pocket style scrapbooking.

For this layout I have chosen a sheet from the 6x8 Paper Pad and made this the feature of my layout. The phrase ‘Follow your heart’ is on a clipboard. I fussy cut out the clipboard and distressed the edges.

I love the soft pink ledger paper from the 12x12 paper collection and chose to use this for the main part of my background. I trimmed it down a little, and used a notebook border punch to create a border down the left side and then mounted it onto a sheet of white card, at an angle.

I layered the Follow Your Heart clipboard with two of the Chipboard Frames and also added my photo, mounted onto more patterned paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad and a noticeboard ephemera piece from the Bits & Pieces.

I embellished the layout with Chipboard Stickers and more ephemera from the Bits & Pieces pack, including paper tabs, flowers, a globe and hearts. I also used a few stickers from the Cardstock Stickers: three phrase stickers and the long scalloped blue border sticker – I cut this into sections and placed them either side of the pink background to give a pop of colour.

I finished off with a little bit of journaling and some splatters of white paint.
Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping

Life's a Zoo! Mini Album | Simple Stories | Into the Wild Collection

Monday, 17 October 2022

Hey everyone! Here is a new Mini Album for Simple Stories using the adorable Into the Wild collection! We love a day at the zoo so I had no shortage of photos to use with this collection. Have you seen the adorable animals?! I fell in love with this collection the moment I saw it.

I have replicated the lion from the collection who appears on the Cardstock Stickers sheet. I hand drew it onto white card, then cut this out and used it as a template. I used the template to cut out all the elements of the lion’s face and create an adorable paper-pieced lion.

I made the lion into a box, with his face as the front cover, and another shape on the back: I still used the mane shape but instead of a face, I made the back end of the lion, including a tail with a handmade paper tassel! It’s so fun!

The box contains a mini album, which is made from two sheets of paper. I used the Color Vibe paper and used the ‘one sheet wonder’ technique to make a little book. This makes multiple pages with top opening or side opening pockets. I then added tags from the Tags sheet into these pockets. These gave me room for extra photos.

I used lots of flat embellishments within the album itself such as the Into the Wild Sticker Book, Bits & Pieces, Journaling Bits and Cardstock Stickers. I also used the cut-apart 12x12 papers such as the Journal Elements paper to add layers.

This was such a fun album to make and this collection is super adorable!
Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping
