Lego Style | Hip Kit Club | Moodboard Challenge

Sunday, 13 September 2020

Hey everyone, I have a new layout to share today for Hip Kit Club featuring the August 2020 Kits. You can find the August kits over on the Hip Kit Club website.

I'm also playing along with this week's Moodboard challenge. I love the September moodboard, have you seen it? You can play along with this week's challenge over on the Hip Kit Club Group on Facebook.

And I've also used an exclusive cut file called Floral Banner which is a subscriber cut file, which means you need to be a Hip Kit Club subscriber to get access to this cut file. You can see the August cut files on the August Downloads tab on the Hip Kit Club website.

I was inspired by the image of the straws on the September moodboard. I love the washi tape/paper banners on them. I was also inspired by the flowers on the typewriter and cake so decided to incorporate flowers. There is also a chevron pattern on one of the pillows on the bedroom image so I have also used chevrons on this layout. I also loved the moodboard colours so was inspired by them too.

I started off with the floral banner cut file which I stuck to my background. I then layered lots and lots of flowers onto it with my photo. Some flowers are from the exclusive ephemera and some are fussy cut from a sheet of paper. I added lots of other embellishments and stickers around my large cluster.

I trimmed down my white cardstock with the intention of giving my layout a border but decided to go for the orange paper with chevrons on it which I then cut with a craft knife along the chevrons to give my layout an interesting border at the top and the bottom.

I hope you have enjoyed this layout and the video too. Come over and play along with the moodboard challenge over on the Hip Kit Club Group on Facebook.

Happy scrapping

Beautiful | Lottie Loves Paper | Cocoa Vanilla Studio Daydream

Saturday, 12 September 2020

Hey everyone, I have a new layout to share today for Lottie Loves Paper. This month I am working with the super beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Studio Daydream collection which is available from Lottie Loves Paper.

For this layout I really wanted to use that lovely blue paper with the white flowers. The other side has a beautiful floral wreath on it which I know will be popular but the blue side just spoke to me! I wanted to showcase it for my background but was a little busy for me to use as it was. So I settled on a starburst design. I did this manually, with a pencil and a ruler and then I cut it with scissors. I distressed the edges and pieced it all back together again (making my gaps a bit wider in the process) and then sewed around each triangle with white cotton on my sewing machine. In real life the stitching is subtle but pretty but it probably can’t be seen too well on the images or the video.

I then began layering up my photo but felt it needed some more white space. So I doodled some clouds onto a scrap piece of white card and cut them out. I then stuck those onto a blue paper (Cocoa Vanilla too) and cut around them. I then stitched around the edge so I had a double border – a turquoise blue stitched outline and a navy blue paper outline too. They look fab and gave me the extra areas of white space the layout needed.

I pulled out all the blue ephemera from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Daydream ephemera, as well as some of the blue stickers. I used a green padded heart and picked out the blue sequins from the Daydream sequin mix. My title is ‘Beautiful’ and is from the Daydream die cut titles pack.

I finished with some splatters of white acrylic paint and handwrote my journaling. I hope you enjoyed this layout, I absolutely loved making it and am delighted with how it turned out. Enjoy the video below x

Happy scrapping

Summer Escape | Bramble Fox | Flamingos and Flowers

Friday, 11 September 2020

Hey everyone, here is a new layout and video for Bramble Fox today. I’ve used a new set of Perspextives called ‘Flamingos and Flowers’ and I’ve also used one of the fabulous new stencils, Fox Cut #19 which is a starburst style.

I began my layout using the stencil and I pushed some pre-coloured texture paste through it, onto a white background. Once it was dry I also added paint using a paintbrush to give some added colour to my starbursts. I used Shimmerz paints products for this.

I then added my photos and a doily and lots of little bits. I used lots of things from the July 2020 Lollipop Box Club kit which is full of cuteness!

Once I was happy with where everything was, I added and stuck down my Perspextives. The Flamingos and Flowers set is so current and those flamingos are adorable. They are paired with some hibiscus flowers and there is a mix of frosted pink and solid coral colours. They are perfect for summer themed photos.

I added a title using cut out letters and also some Thickers and I handwrote in my journaling. I felt the layout needed a little something at the top so I added some green tissue paper and a strip of green paper. I also machine stitched through that with black thread and a zig zag stitch to give it a bit more definition and to bring in the black from the title.

I really hope you enjoyed this layout, I loved making it and love the result. Thanks so much for joining me and happy scrapping

Relax | Scrap Academy | Using Inexpensive Mixed Media Products

Wednesday, 9 September 2020

Hey everyone, I have a new layout and video for Scrap Academy today. This Term we are focussing on Mixed Media and this week we are looking at using inexpensive materials.

I’m using an inexpensive set of water colour paints. There are 36 colours and I got them from Hobbycraft. They are still a current product and retail around £6. There are other options available too, shop around and check out Amazon too if you are looking to pick up a set. Mixed Media background can be made, very successfully, with a set of paints like this and not much else!

I started off with a sheet of white card. I added water to my paintbrush and activated the paint. I then painted the colour onto a piece of packaging, just a piece of plastic cellophane from an embellishment pack. I then pressed the packaging onto my layout to transfer the colour onto the white background. I repeated this with several colours. I also added splatters in the same colours.

Once the layout was dry I was then able to add my photo and several layers and little journaling cards around my photo. I carried on with adding embellishments, most of which were from the July Lollipop Box Club. I also added Bramble Fox Perspextives: a green circle, blue geotags and some fish. I kept my embellishments colour-on-colour, meaning that I put pink embellishments on the pink area of mixed media and green embellishments on the green area of mixed media.

I finished off with a title and some pretty sequins by Spiegelmom Scraps.

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping
