October Documented!

Thursday, 7 November 2013

Hi Documenters

I've been busy working on my October Document layouts and this month I have even done a video for you!  Please feel free to watch although it isn't compulsory at all to do the layouts yourself - my written instructions are more accurate. Also I had some issues editing this video, bits of it are missing so use it as an aid rather than for definitive instructions!

Photos of the layouts, as usual, are below. Enjoy the video!

October Introduction layout: I
've used one 6x4" landscape photo.

This month's numbers:
The tiny cameras are cut from a manufacturing strip on one of the papers, notebook paper, a word window strip, large star, small label and three small stars - easy I promise!

This month's divided page protector consists of three 6x4 landscape pockets and six 3x4 portrait pockets. Sorry that this picture is a bit blurred.

A close up of some of the little pockets from this divided layout:

The reverse of divided layout 1, so the same number of pockets but they are the other way around (6x4s on the right this time).

a close up of some of the little layouts from Divided layout 2:

and finally this month's focus layout. I've used one 6x4 landscape photo and one small 2.5 x 2.75" landscape photo.

For those who are coming I will see you on Saturday 16th at about 9.45am.

Happy scrapping!

Layouts using 'Nostalgia' papers from November's 'Timeless' kit

Wednesday, 6 November 2013

As soon as I saw the 'Nostalgia' range by My Mind's Eye I bought in most of it! The papers have a beautiful vintage feel to them whilst still being pretty colours. There are 7 sheets of the Nostalgia range in this month's kit together with a sheet of die-cuts and therefore I've managed to get three layouts from this one range.

I've used just two little photos for my first layout and I've utilised a few of the die cuts - strategically covering up some of the wording that didn't suit my photos.

My second layout uses a really huge photo - it started off as A4 but I've trimmed it down a bit.I didn't need much embellishment because the photo takes up so much room! Again I've covered up some of the wording on the die-cuts that didn't suit and still ended up with a layered look.

and I used up the rest of my papers on this final layout. I made my own little tile alpha stickers but cutting small rectangles of paper and writing in the lettering.

and here is Kirei's layout using these supplies, check out her blog for more details on how she made it.

A Scary layout...

Sunday, 3 November 2013

OK, this week on UK Scrappers there was a challenge:
1. to use the sketch below
2. to use Halloween colours
3. to scrap a festival such as Halloween

I'm good for the sketch, but I'm not sure on the Halloween colours because there was originally a swatch, but then it switched to any Halloween colours. I didn't use the swatch but I think these colours are sufficiently Halloween-y but they aren't traditional Halloween colours like orange, black, purple for example. And then there's the festival part - my photo is of a Dementor from Harry Potter which is obviously a very scary being and if I were to go out dressed up as one, it would definitely pass for a Halloween costume BUT strictly speaking it's not Halloween. So I've no idea whether I've met all the requirements or not but this is my submission nonetheless!

Happy scrapping and may my next blog post contain a prettier subject!

One Martini...

Saturday, 2 November 2013

OK I wasn't sure what to do with this week's sketch when I first saw it...

Those flags going both ways caused me some trouble last time they made an appearance (but I had rotated the sketch on that occasion so having one come up from the bottom looked very weird!) but this time I've just about managed it - the colours blend in a bit with the papers but they are there I promise.  This card is for a good friend who loves a drink so this Lady Bug Crafts Ink image was perfect for her (Martini Nikki). I went for a hexagon rather than a star shape and used one of my new Memory Box dies at the top - I've been really impressed with these dies, they are so intricate and still cut so well.

This week's sponsor is Clearly Besotted who do some fab stamps and are offering a stamp set to this week's winner so head on over and join in the challenge.

Happy scrapping xx
