I go on the Scrapagogo retreat twice a year and it's so good that I really look forward to the next one the moment the last one has finished, so you can imagine how disappointed I was when I was unable to go on the March retreat because I was due to have a baby any day. Very bad planning on my part.
So while my crafting buddies were there enjoying themselves, I was the size of a whale and at home missing out on all the fun. I asked them to pick me up a few kits while they were there so that I didn't miss out too much though and these are some of the ones they got for me:
This one involved painting letters in white and then picking out a few to paint in blue and red to spell out the title. Love the little airmail stickers and postcard charm. I added the aeroplane paperclip from my stash.
This one was interesting: there was a picture of a gate in the kit and some acetate. I had to trace the gate onto the acetate using a silver pen. I don't have a silver pen so gave it a go with some silver paint which looked rubbish. Then I borrowed a silver pen, that obviously wasn't the right type because it wouldn't dry and also didn't look great and then finally someone else lent me their silver pen - the right kind this time! So third time lucky, my gates were sufficiently silver. I then had to cut them out and wrap ivy leaves around them and add on flowers. Even thought I probably wasted about 4-5 hours on this layout, I am very pleased with the result and glad I stuck at it!
This layout was very cool. Those white lines are made by wrapping a piece of string around a block several time, then the string 'stamp'is dipped in white paint and stamped onto the layout - awesome result! The chevrons are also a home made stamp - the pattern was carved out of a piece of foamy stuff (hard though, not soft). I didn't do this, Kirei had already done it for me - thanks Kirei! The chipboard discs were supposed to be painted in a sage colour but I didn't have any sage paint so I used gold instead which went really well.
and finally I have this cute layout of Sophie meeting Princess Aurora. On the gogo weekend those roses were made by dipping celery (yes celery!) into paint and stamping the pattern onto paper. I'm afraid I didn't have the right paints and couldn't be bothered with celery at home so used an old Stampin Up stamp set called 'A Rose is a Rose' to achieve a similar (and probably much better!) result.
So even though it took me nearly a year to get these layouts done after missing the Gogo retreat last March, I'm very pleased that I have finally done these layouts - well done me! (Just a few more to go, watch this space!)

Keeping Cosy

A snowy photo was one of the challenge criteria on UK Scrappers this week. Problem is we've not had any snow yet so no snowy photos for me. I therefore had to dig out some old skiing photos, which involved moving junk around in order to get to them, and what did I find? I'd already scrapped all the photos with snow in them. The only photos I have left of that holiday are all the pics taken inside. The criteria then changed to allow photos with people wrapped up against the elements...and I had a winning photo yey!
We are partaking in some 'serious apres ski' and are all in ski gear so we definitely fall within the category of being wrapped up against the elements. The other critera were to use white and blue colours and to include some sparkle or bling. I have glittery thickers for my title, there's gold glitter on the 'Perfect Day' sub title and various gems dotted around the layout.
Thanks for stopping by xx

New Baby Boy
Saturday, 8 February 2014
It's always lovely when a new baby comes into the world. This time it wasn't so great for his mummy, he was 10lb 2oz! Ouch. But he's very lovely even though he is a bit of a whopper.
I have rotated this week's Sketch Saturday sketch 90degrees anticlockwise to make it work with the images I wanted to use. The little animals are by Stampin' Up! but this set is now retired :o( The papers and stickers are by Bella Bvd (Baby Boy Collection) and I've added a tab of wide ribbon.
This week's Sketch Saturday sketch is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Head on over and join in with the challenge to win a fab prize.
Happy scrapping xx

Layouts make with Flea Market Collection from February's 'Love That' kit
Wednesday, 5 February 2014
The supplies for these layouts come from February's 'Love That' kit which is now on sale below. This collections is the Maggie Holmes 'Flea Market' collection by Crate Paper. The name 'Flea Market' makes me think of a dusty old market selling old pieces of distressed furniture amongst other junk but this collection has nice bright colours and interesting patterns. Perhaps my idea of a flea market is not particularly accurate.
I've used just the one photo this time and it didn't fit inside any of my frames particularly well so I've added a frame here for use in a different way...to hold my title. I had originally intended to write my journaling in the frame but somehow that didn't happen and the title ended up there instea.
Kirei has designed this layout using the same supplies from this month's 'Love That' kit. You can see more details on her blog here, about how she made it.

The stitched frames in this month's kit coordinate with the 'Flea Market' collection and are actually fabric rather than paper or chipboard. They are therefore quite pliable and can lose their shape easily. I found that by sticking my photo down first it was then a lot easier to adhere the frame directly on top, rather than try to attach the frame to the photo before adding it to the layout. The detail on the stitched frames is really delicate, pretty and lovely.
For this page design I've used one regular 6x4 portrait photo together with a little square photo (I think it's around 3x3). I don't always mix photo sizes, mainly because I have all my photos printed in a job lot each month in 6x4 format, so naturally I have a lot of those lying around, but I think the mix of one large and one small works well here. Ive embellished the layout using little pieces cut from one of the papers and this month's flag shaped Thickers are really cool.

A New Home
Saturday, 1 February 2014
Morning all. This week it's Cathy's DT week which means she designed the sketch and organised a sponsor for this week's challenge. Here is her fab Sketch Saturday sketch:
For my DT entry I've used a stamp by A Day for Daisies who are this week's sponsor. Their stamps are a little different from what we usually expect from digi stamps, they are much more artsy. The one I've used (Home Sweet Home) isn't the best example but check out their site - it is definitely worth a look!
I struggled a bit with the colour scheme on this card. I just couldn't get the papers to look right with the houses in the background so I can't say I'm 100% happy with this card but it will have to do!
This week's sketch is sponsored by A Day for Daisies who are offering a great prize so make sure you join in with this week's sketch to be in with a chance of winning!
