The Best Fun! | For the Love of Pretty Paper | Simple Stories Happy Travels

Sunday, 3 August 2025

Here’s my take on this month’s For the Love of Pretty Paper sketch! I love this sketch so much, those circles are so fun and I had a great time cutting them all out of so many different patterns! This sketch is perfect to use a 6x8 paper pad!

I stayed pretty close to the sketch and used the Happy Travels collection by Simple Stories. I adore those travel-tastic patterns and Bits & Pieces!

At the Fair | Simple Stories | Fun Times

Saturday, 2 August 2025

Hey everyone! Here’s a new layout using the fabulously fun Fun Times collection by Simple Stories. Although it’s fairground-themed, the bright colours and playful icons make it perfect for all sorts of photos.

I couldn’t resist using that amazing starburst paper…of course I had to cut it apart and distress it! I also raised up each coloured ray for a bit of added dimension.

I used one 6x4 photo, positioned pretty much in the centre, and created a big embellishment cluster to the right of it, stretching both up and down. I absolutely love those balloons, and the title ‘At the Fair’ is just perfect!

Happy scrapping,

Explore | Simple Stories | Simple Vintage Woodlands

Friday, 1 August 2025

Hey everyone, here is another layout using Simple Vintage Woodlands.  I started with a white background, mounted on a gorgeous green cross-hatch patterned paper.

I added a scalloped border sticker from the Cardstock Stickers along the left edge of the layout and balanced it with a smaller version of the same scallop, this time from the Ephemera, on the opposite side.

I used one large photo, which I mounted on dark brown paper to coordinate with the scallops. I placed it on the background, layering it with a tag from the Tag Elements paper, some beautiful Floral Bits, and a large camera sticker from the Cardstock Stickers.

To create balance, I added a smaller cluster in the opposite bottom corner of the photo, featuring hiking boots, a camera, another scalloped strip, and more Floral Bits.

My title, “wander,” comes from the Foam Stickers and sits on the right side of the layout, giving it a lovely split design feel. I built up that area with more small Floral Bits, a few hearts, phrase stickers from the Cardstock Stickers, and my handwritten journaling.

I finished all the clusters with Decorative Brads - I love using these for the extra texture and dimension they bring! Finally, I added some black paint splatters to complete the layout.

Thanks so much for joining me today, and happy scrapping!

Into the Woods | Simple Stories | Simple Vintage Woodlands

Hey everyone! I’m excited to share a new layout I created using the fabulous Simple Vintage Woodlands collection. My daughter recently went on her very first Duke of Edinburgh Expedition hike, so this collection was absolutely perfect for those photos!

I was inspired by a circle on one of the journaling spots, which led me to design the layout around a circular theme. I cut a circle from one of the patterned papers, then layered it with a larger open circle in a contrasting colour. I distressed the edges of both before mounting them onto a white background.

That white background was then mounted on another patterned paper, a cross-hatch design, which is definitely one of my favourite patterns!

For the photo, I placed it over the original journaling spot, mostly covering the circle but leaving the hiking boots, compass, and binoculars visible. I layered it with a large piece of ephemera, two tags from the Tags Elements paper tied with ribbon, and some lovely Floral Bits.

My title, “into the woods,” comes from the Bits & Pieces and is raised on foam pads to add some dimension.

To finish, I added beautiful butterflies clustered at the top right of the circles, balanced everything with a narrow strip at the bottom, and scattered a few phrase stickers from the Cardstock Stickers, hearts, Decorative Brads, and some black paint splatters.

Thanks so much for joining me today, and happy scrapping!

My Best Friend | GoGo Getaway Cybercrop | Simple Stories Fur Baby Cat

Tuesday, 22 July 2025

Hey everyone, here is a new layout I made playing along with a GoGo Getaway Cybercrop Colour challenge. I’ve used the Fur Baby Cat collection by Simple Stories to create this cute layout. The collection features a page full of speech bubbles all containing things cats might say (!) so I decided to go with that theme, create a large speech bubble and add the smaller fussy-cut speech bubbles from the paper to the big one. I loved how it turned out!

I used one large photo and added my large title t the centre of the large speech bubble. I also added stitching, a few purr-fect embellishments and finished off with some black splatters of course!

Lava Lunch | Cocoa Vanilla Studio | The Great Escape Collection

Sunday, 13 July 2025

Hey everyone, here’s a new layout using The Great Escape Collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio! I’m finishing off my layouts from a visit to Timanfiya Volcano in Lanzarote and this collection is perfect! This photo shows where our lunch was cooked that day…from the heat of the volcano itself!

I used the fabulous zig zag orange paper for a big background panel and then created a large photo cluster over on the right side of the layout which I balanced with a smaller embellishment cluster over on the left side. I love all the flags and stars in this collection. My ‘Lava Lunch’ title was a fun addition too!

Happy Days | FTLOPP Sketch Challenge | Simple Stories Sunny Days

Sunday, 6 July 2025

Here’s my take on this month’s For the Love of Pretty Paper sketch! I really loved the focus on that one central photo which is on the larger side for me, but I loved the impact this has!

I stayed pretty close to the original sketch and used the Sunny Days collection by @simplestories_ to scrap yet another holiday photo. Those big tropical Floral Bits are just gorgeous!

Good Times | Simple Stories | Happy Travels Collection

Thursday, 3 July 2025

Hey everyone!

I’ve got a brand-new layout to share today using the Happy Travels collection from Simple Stories, and I had so much fun with this one!

That gorgeous starburst paper immediately caught my eye, and I just couldn’t resist cutting into it straight away! I fussy cut out the centre circle and backed it with white cardstock to help it pop. Then I layered my photo off-centre over the circle, along with a few tags and loads of beautiful Bits & Pieces.

To add some extra texture and dimension, I carefully cut between a few of the rays, distressed the edges, and curled them up a little –one of my favourite things to do! I love how the layout turned out!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Happy scrapping!

1st Day | Simple Stories | Book Fair

Wednesday, 2 July 2025

Hey everyone, here is another layout using Simple Stories Book Fair. For this layout, I just had to use that adorable row of pencils from one of the patterned papers. I fussy cut them out and turned them into a feature across the page. I added foam pads under the ends to make them stand up a little. I love the extra dimension that gave them!

Underneath the pencils, I added a yellow strip to anchor everything, then started building my layers. I used the ‘Reading Log’ journaling card as a base and popped my two photos on top. These are from my little boy’s very first day of school. I’ve been meaning to scrap them for years! He was only 3 at the time… and now he’s nearly 7! Where does the time go?

I added one of those gorgeous flower-and-pencil clusters from the Floral Bits (can’t get enough of those), plus a few cute icons from the Bits & Pieces. For the title, I used the ‘1st Day’ Foam Sticker: simple and perfect.

I created a few more little embellishment clusters using the cutest icons; an apple with a worm, a pen pot, ‘hard work’ rosette, notebook, clock, camera and more! I also added a few phrase strips from the Cardstock Stickers for extra details.

To finish it all off, I added some handwritten journaling, Decorative Brads, and of course, a few splatters of black paint – because no layout is complete without those!

I really love how this one came together – that little row of pencils totally stole my heart.

Thanks so much for joining me today, and happy scrapping!

School Days | Simple Stories | Book Fair

Here’s a new layout using the fabulous Book Fair collection from Simple Stories – and oh my goodness, I’ve been waiting for a collection like this to use with school photos for ages! Book Fair is absolutely perfect. I love the bright primary colours, the super cute school-themed icons, and have you SEEN those flower clusters with the pencils in them?! They are just the cutest.

For this layout, I cut a large circle from one of the patterned papers and then chopped it into four pieces. I wanted it to represent 'fractions' because that’s what I’ve been teaching my little boy lately – I couldn’t resist sneaking that little theme in! I put the pieces onto a white background and flipped two of them over to show the reverse pattern too.

I added three photos, one of each of my children on their first day back to school this academic year. I can’t believe how fast they’re growing up!

I used the big “Take Note” journaling card (love that!) and added a tag from the Tag Elements sheet. For the title, I went with the “School Days” foam sticker – nice and bold! I also tucked in a few of those gorgeous flower clusters from the Floral Bits (the ones with the pencils, I’m completely obsessed), plus lots of cute icons from the Bits & Pieces pack: little maths cards, alarm clock, books, glue stick… they’re just all so adorable.

To finish it off, I added a few phrase stickers from the Cardstock Stickers, some Decorative Brads, handwritten journaling, and a few splatters of black paint.

I absolutely love how this layout turned out – and I’m completely in love with this collection. You will definitely expect to see many more pages from me using Book Fair!

Happy scrapping,

Niki xx
