Round & Round
Sunday, 23 February 2014
I love the colours in this collection pack: it's called Paradise Beach by Echo Park and it is obviously beach themed and I tend to avoid overly themed papers but the colours won me over and I found myself with the collection pack in my stash. So I'll use the B sides of the paper covered in surf boards etc and embrace the gorgeous colours for my beachy layouts.
The UKScrappers challenge this week was to use red, to use a cross which I stitched in the top right corner, to use outdoor photos and to use circles. Easy peasy.
Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping x
Another bouncing baby boy!
Saturday, 22 February 2014
This baby was was not quite as big as the one a few weeks ago - 7lb ish, so a good weight considering he was a few weeks early. He is a very special baby as he is long awaited so I'm very pleased he is here safe, sound and perfect and he is gorgeous!
I love the point on this week's sketch, well done to Alex for designing it:
I'm on a bit of a mission to use up some older stash that I've had lurking around for ages so these papers and ribbon are by Papertrey Ink. The stars are new - a stamp set by Stampin Up and the image is by this week's challenge sponsor, Oak Pond Creations.

Layouts made with 'Thataway' collection from February's 'Love That' kit
Wednesday, 19 February 2014
This way or Thataway? The Thataway collection by Studio Calico is a travel collection that is not overly themed. The colours are muted and compliment each other really well but there is the odd bright colour sneaking in there too...
Ive used two 4x4 square photos for this layout and arranged them together in the centre. The background reminded me of bricks and even though the words contained in them are strictly-speaking travel themed, I though they still worked well for these pictures of my little girl on a digger - things like: explore, let's go, adventure, flat tire, etc. I used narrow strips at just the bottom of the layout instead of top and bottom like I often do, and made a journaling card to hold my journaling out of patterned paper. I love the little flair badges - so cute!
I started off with three 6x4 landscape photos and was going to put all three on the vertical down the layout but while one photo was really good, the other two could have been cropped in a bit so I ended up with the arrangement below: one 6x4 and two 3x4" portraits. I love the soft clouds in the background.
Kirei has also made a layout using these supplies and there are more details on her blog about how she made it.

TEAM Project Life - my January Layouts

Calling all Project Lifers!
Today is the start of my new class over on UK Scrappers: TEAM Project Life. Now I'm new to Project Life myself so feel slightly uncomfortable calling this a 'class' - actually it is more of a 'scrap along with me' sort of thing.
In the first PDF installment, which you can find in the TEAM Project Life thread, we are looking at:
getting started;
considering the album(s) as a whole;
gathering supplies and making the layouts; and
front covers/title page.
There are also two videos to compliment the PDF which can be viewed underneath the respective layouts below (cover page and Week 4).
My Week 1 layout uses the 'Blush' core kit and papers:
My Week 2 layout uses the 'Honey' core kit and papers.
My Week 3 layout uses the Sunshine core kit and papers.
and finally my Week 4 layout uses the Coral core kit and papers.
I would love it if you could scrap along with me so head on over to UK Scrappers and join in!

Happy Valentines to Daddy
Saturday, 15 February 2014
I had already made this Valentines card for my hubby from me, before I saw something on Pinterest that was so perfect that I had to re-create it, (which i will share in a couple of weeks time) so I ended up with this card spare. Unless I was to give him two valentines cards that is. So I removed the sentiment and made a new one reading 'Love you Daddy', and hey presto, a valentines card to Daddy from our daughter. Perfect.
I loved this week's sketch, nice and simple, with plenty of scope:
The image is by Dilly Beans, and he's called Crinkles the hedgehog. He was facing the wrong way for the sketch so I was going to reverse the sketch but instead I just flipped the image - perfect. I did the sentiment in photoshop and then punched it out with a heart punch. The papers are by My Mind's Eye.
This week's Sketch Saturday sketch is sponsored by Dilly Beans. Head on over and join in with the challenge to win a fab prize.
Happy scrapping and thanks for stopping by xx

Layouts make with 'You are my Happy' Collection from February's 'Love That' kit
Wednesday, 12 February 2014
I'm wondering whether foiled papers are the new glitter paper. It's almost as pretty but without the stray glitter the always seems to cover me and all members of my family. This 'You are my Happy' collection by Teresa Collins is really gorgeous. Those hearts are foiled and are a sort of bronze colour - really pretty.
This was the only decent photo I managed to get of this couple at their wedding so I wanted to give it centre stage. The photo's importance is emphasized by the large chevron in the background pointing to it. The chrevron was supposed to go horizontally across the page rather than vertically but it worked better for me going down. I've added the two of the Jenni Bowlin kraft tags and wrote my journaling on the larger one. I cut out a few foiled hearts and dotted them in a sort of vertical line form the top to the bottom of the page. I also dropped on some gold mist for some extra sparkle.
I had two 6x4 photos and one little photo which I couldn't make work together so I've done something I don't usually do here - and put the photos away from each other instead of touching. I quite like the result. I've split the background so it is half one pattern and half another and added in the foiled hearts wherever I could (I love them!).
Kirei has designed this layout using the same supplies from the February 'Love That' kit. There are more details on her blog about how she made it.
