Kirei's layout with the April Wk 3 Kit 'Decorate'

Friday, 20 April 2012

Hi Everyone!

I love the 'Miss Caroline' range from My Minds Eye so was very happy when they turned up in this week's Kit! I loved the faux wood panelled 'Happy Decorate' paper so decided that was going to be the base for my layout.

Firstly I cut around some of the flowers and leaves in the top left and bottom right corners as I wanted to slip some of the papers underneath them later. Then I cut a piece measuring 4.5"x 10" from the 'Baby' paper and a piece 5" x 9.5"from the 'Happy Beach Stripe' paper. The edges of both pieces were distressed with an edging tool and then I tied some twine (from my stash) around the spotty piece. These were both then stuck down (at an angle) to the base paper.

I cut a number of strips of varying lengths: 1" x 7" of the 'Happy Beach Stripe', 1/2" x 8" and 1 3/4" x 8"of the 'Baby' paper. I border punched the 1 3/4" x 8" strip and then layered them all up at the bottom of the layout, just tucking the ends in under the yellow flower.

The 7" x 5" photo was trimmed down and mounted onto the pink Bazzill, and then stuck down onto the layout tucking the bottom right corner under the flower. I added a button (tied with twine) from the fab embellishment pack that came with the Kit, and attached it with a glue dot to the centre of the twine tied round the spotty panel on the layout. I punched a variety of butterflies and attached them to my layout with Glossy Accents (it dries quickly and holds them nice and firm!). For the main butterfly I layered up two of them, attached some pearls for the body and used two of the cute pins for antennae! This was attached with foam pads to the bottom left of the photo.

To finish off I used some alphas from my stash for the title.

This Kit is available for a limited time from the Pages of Memories Online Store.

Niki's Layout using April 3 'Decorate'

Thursday, 19 April 2012

Hi Everyone

So here is my layout using April 3 kit 'Decorate'

I've got a lot of wedding photos that need scrapping and the papers in this week's kit were perfect some one particular outdoors one:

I wanted to make sure I kept the lovely flowers that were on the wood paper so I cut round them and layered the on top of my photograph.

I also created an embellishment in the top left corner using a circle punch, two Lattice Hearts and some of the buttons and pinks from the 'Miss Caroline' Buttons & Pins pack.  The border punch on the left side of the paper is part of a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Set which you can buy here - I have one left!!

The large ticket in the bottom right corner embellishment was just made by cutting two rectangles from the patterned paper and card and clipping the corners with a circle punch - very effective!

I added a few more buttons and pins here as well as another Lattice Heart and a large butterfly cut using the Martha Stewart Large Butterfly Punch.

Here you can see how some of those flowers go over the photo and I also added a title using leftover alphabet stickers from April 1 kit 'Instamatic'.

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by - pop back tomorrow to see Kirei's layout using this kit xx

Kirei's layout with the April Wk 2 Kit: Cornwall

Friday, 13 April 2012

Hi Everyone!

This week's Kit had some of the very pretty Prima 'Pixie Glen' papers to work with along with a fab alpha from My Minds Eye. I had a sweet photo of my friend Andrea and her little boy Joe that I thought would go perfectly.... who says you can't use pink for boys! The page in itself is pretty straightforward, it is just the cutting out that I decided to do! One of the papers had a whole side of different elements that you could cut out and I think I decided to use half of them!

To start with I gutted the pink Bazzill leaving a 1.5" border. I decided to use the pale blue framed/pale pink centre Prima 'Chip-A-Twitter' paper as my base and trimmed off just under 1/2" from each side (don't forget to remove the manufacturers strip first!). The edges were distressed with a distressing tool (you can get the same effect with a pair of scissors). This was then attached to the pink Bazzill. I trimmed my 7" x 5" photo down as I wanted to remove the distracting elements from the photo but you could just as easily use a variety of sizes with this layout.

I then cut out a variety of the elements from the Prima 'Pyske Cuts' paper that I thought I wanted to use, you could select as many or as little as you want! I used the beading strip from the paper along with one of the sayings as a border to the bottom of my photo. The other elements were then layered up (some on foam pads) in the top left corner and bottom right corner along with the flowers that came with the Kit. I had some of the 'Pixie Glen' chipboard pieces leftover from a previous Kit so I used one of those and I did dip into my own stash for some buttons and twine to go with the flowers.

To finish off I added my title with the fuzzy felt like 'Lush' alphas!

You can purchase this Kit at the Pages of Memories Online Store for a limited time.

Niki's Layout using April 2 kit 'Cornwall'

Thursday, 12 April 2012

Hi All

This week's kit is really lovely - I absolutely loved the papers and the alphabet goes so well too, not to mention the flowers that are actually designed to coordinate with the papers.

So here is my layout:

I really loved the cream side of one paper and the green side of the other and combined together I think they work really well.

I particularly wanted to use the strip of roses so I cut that out and made sure it featured prominently on the layout. I used the EK Success Open Scallop punch to give it a fancy edge at the bottom. I also used the Martha Stewart 'Deco Flowers' punch at the top.

I cut up some of the remaining papers into journaling strips - inking the edges makes them stand out.

Here I again wanted to use the pattern on one of the papers so I cut out the motif, turned it upsidedown (it worked better that way!) and stuck it to the bottom right corner of my layout - perfect for adding a date.

I have dotted clusters of the Prima Flowers around the page and their centres are the dots that came in the alphabet!

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!  The kit with full instructions can be purchases here for just £7.60.

Pop back tomorrow to see what Kirei has done with this layout.

Kirei's layout using the April Week 1 Kit 'Instamatic'

Friday, 6 April 2012

Hi Everyone!

This week's Kit included the fab new papers from Echo Park and I had a photo that I had thought would work perfectly with them.... it was actually taken from the TV and was of my brother-in-law Chris and his fiance Louise at Wimbledon. The cameras did a great closeup of them, and luckily I was recording it so was able to come back later and pause it so I could take a photo!

I used the Echo Park 'Dots & Plaids' paper as my base (the spotty side). I then cut a 9.5" x 8" piece from the striped side of the 'Tickets Please' paper and attached this to my base slightly off centre. I doodled a line round the edge of this with a dark brown marker (it doesn't need to be straight!).

There is a full page of stickers including alphas to go with the kit so I used some of these at three of the corners on the base. The photo was mounted on to teal Bazzill and stuck down on the bottom right of the layout. I then cut out some of the tickets from the 'Tickets Please' paper and layered them up in the bottom right corner of the photo along with a sticker and some buttons (from my stash).

I added some journalling to the left of the photo, this was made up with some of the alphabet stickers that came with the Kit and these were firstly stuck onto some of the teal Bazzill and cut into strips before attaching to the layout.

To finish off I added the title using more of the alpha stickers for 'In The' and I raided my stash for some large alphas for 'Spotlight!'.

This Kit is available for a limited time here.

Niki's layout using April 1 kit 'Instamatic'

Thursday, 5 April 2012

Hi All

So what did you think of yesterday's kit? I loved it! I really love the colours and it makes a change from pretty or cutesy papers (not that I don't love these too, it's just nice to have something a bit different!)

So here is my layout using this kit:

I've been dying to scrap this photo of a Cheetah family ever since I took it in 2010 but I hadn't found the right papers but this kit was absolutely perfect.  There is a story behind how I got that photo so the cameras on the patterned papers and the element stickers worked really well.

I did quite a lot of journaling on this page and the telegrams on the 'Tickets Please' papers worked well for this.

I also made full use of the border stickers on the sticker sheet using one either side of my layout and the diamond shaped one I cut up and used to add an extra element to the top of my photo.

I also used the stickers on the sticker sheet to create an embellishment for the bottom right corner of my layout and finished it off with a few more diamonds from the border sticker.

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by - check back tomorrow to see Kirei's layout using this kit.
