Boo! Simple Stories | Spooky Things

Friday, 10 October 2025

Boo! I had so much fun creating this Halloween layout with the Simple Stories Spooky Things collection. My little boy is obsessed with The Nightmare Before Christmas and dressed up as Jack Skellington last year. We carved pumpkins inspired by the characters, so for this layout I hand-drew a template of the Oogie Boogie Man, cut him out of black cardstock, and layered him over that gorgeous purple starry paper which makes such a fun feature!

I added my photo alongside lots of Bits & Pieces and Decorative Brads, plus spooky spider webs and ghosts to ramp up the Halloween vibes. It turned out super-spooky and perfectly captures our faBOOlous fun!

Gather Together | Simple Stories | Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze

Thursday, 9 October 2025

Here's another layout made with Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze. For this layout, I went with one of my favourite classic designs featuring a large torn section of patterned paper at the top. I chose the stunning burnt orange check pattern paired with those fabulous stripes, making sure the torn edges varied in height and shape for a layered and textured look.

I mounted my two photos on another patterned paper and balanced them with an adorable journaling card from the Journal Bits pack that says, “you’re the pick of the patch”, so cute! I layered the photos and journaling card over the torn section, adding two oversized pumpkins from the Floral Bits for extra autumn charm.

Then came the fun part, adding layers of embellishments! More Floral Bits and Bits & Pieces plus playful Foam Stickers. I used “gather together” for my title and layered in phrase stickers like “this moment,” “making moments,” and “splendour,” extending the theme with phrases from the Cardstock Stickers too.

To finish, I added my handwritten journaling, foam sticker hearts, plenty of decorative brads, and some black paint splatters for a final touch!

I love how the rich paper patterns contrast beautifully with the crisp white background for such a fresh, warm autumn vibe!

Happy scrapping

Fabulous | Simple Stories | Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze

Hey everyone!  I’m excited to share a new layout I’ve created for Simple Stories using what might just be their most beautiful autumn collection yet…Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze.

The moment I saw that stunning pumpkin paper, I knew I had to feature it. I carefully fussy cut around some of the pumpkins, removing a section from the middle of the paper. I backed it with a warm orange polka dot print from the same collection. The solid background balances out the busy pumpkin border perfectly, and I’m so happy with how it frames the whole page!

I mounted my photo on the left side and balanced it with a sweet journaling piece on the right that reads “Leaves are Falling, Autumn is Calling.” Around the photo, I layered Floral Bits and Bits & Pieces to add layers, depth and texture. For the title, I chose the large foam sticker “Fabulous”, paired with the foam subtitle “Cool & Crisp”.

To finish, I created a small cluster at the top right…three cardstock sticker phrases, a couple of Decorative Brads, and some heart-shaped Bits & Pieces. I added in more hearts, more brads, my handwritten journaling, and a few splatters of black paint for that perfect finishing touch!

I absolutely love how this turned out, especially that pumpkin border!  I hope it inspires you to embrace all the cosy autumn vibes in your own layouts!

School Days | GoGo Getaway Cybercrop Tic Tac Toe Challenge | Simple Stories Book Fair

Wednesday, 24 September 2025

Here’s my version of this month’s GoGo Getaway Cybercrop challenge which was a Tic Tac Toe grid. We all know how these work: pick three in a row and include those elements on your layout. The row can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal or you can go for a full house and use ALL of the elements!

That’s what I did, I used the whole lot and here is the layout I made.  I used the fabulous Book Fair collection by Simple Stories to make a school themed layout – I’ve been catching up on my backlog of school photos for a while now and this photo is another throwback from several years ago that I’ve been meaning to scrap for ages! I love all the bold stripes in the background and the oversized photo!

Happy scrapping,

Party Time | Simple Stories | Say Cheese Classic Pooh Birthday

Wednesday, 10 September 2025

Hey everyone, here is a very cute layout using a very cute collection…Say Cheese Classic Pooh Birthday by Simple Stories! I scrapped photos from my son’s 7th birthday party when he went rock-climbing.

I loved the numbers paper so I used this for the background but it was a bit busy to use by itself so I added some white on top. I then added my photos and lots of birthday themed embellishments – balloons, streamers, cupcakes and gifts! I also added a big number ‘7’ to signify that it was his 7th birthday!

I love how it turned out, all the Pooh elements are super adorable! It is perfect for birthdays!

School Rules | Simple Stories | Book Fair Collection

Tuesday, 9 September 2025

Hey everyone, here is another layout using the wonderful Book Fair collection by Simple Stories, and for this layout I was determined to use the ruler paper!

I started with that fabulous orange paper-aeroplane paper. I trimmed down a sheet of white card and added that to the orange background, and then I cut apart the rules and layered those across the white panel. I distressed the edges first of course!

I added my photo onto the rulers, I went for an oversized school photo of my son which is a few year old now, he is 5 in the photo but is actually 12 now! It’s a gorgeous photo!

For my title I used a sticker ‘school’ from the Cardstock Stickers, and the word ‘Rules’ from the Page Pieces.

I then created two large embellishment clusters on opposite corners of my photo using adorable clusters from the Floral Bits, cute icons such as apples and book cases and some more generic stationery items. I added in enamel dots and splatters of black paint to finish off!

I think this layout turned out really well, I just adore the rulers in the background!

Learn | Simple Stories | Book Fair Collection

Hey everyone! Here is a new layout for Simple Stories using the fabulous Book Fair collection. This is one of my favourites this year as I love a school themed collection!

For this layout I was inspired by one of the Big Bits – an apple with a cheeky worm wriggling out! The apple inspired me so I decided to make a large apple on my layout. I drew myself a template onto a sheet of A4 paper and cut it out. I drew around it onto one of the red papers from the collection and cut it out.

I mounted my photo onto a sheet of paper from the 6”x8” paper pad and I used the same pattern to cut the stalk and leaf for my apple. I just drew these freehand and cut them out.

I layered my photo onto the apple together with the apple from the Big Bits, and a couple of tags cut from the Tags Elements paper. I also tucked in that cute camera also from the Big Bits.

I tucked in more pieces from the Bits & Pieces, Floral Bits and the Journal Bits and then began adding more smaller elements from the Chipboard Stickers and Decorative Brads. I love all the different textures I have on the layout! I also added Foam Stickers too!

For my title I used the word ‘Learn’ which I raised on foam pads to make it stand out. I also added a few stars which I also raised.

I finished off with a few Enamel Dots, handwrote my journaling around the outside of my apple, and then added a few splatters of black paint!

I love how it turned out; the apple is so adorable!

Explore | GoGo Getaway Cybercrop Challenge | Simple Stories Simple Vintage Woodlands

Tuesday, 19 August 2025

Hey everyone! I’ve been playing along with this month’s GoGo Getaway Cybercrop challenge and here is the layout I made. The challenge was to use a large shape…any shape at all, as long as it was big! I went with an arrow and used the Simple Stories Simple Vintage Woodlands collection to document some hiking photos of my daughter.

I made myself an arrow template, traced it onto patterned paper, and cut out two big arrows. Then I added my photo and lots of gorgeous Bits & Pieces from the Woodlands collection, I’m especially loving the hiking boots, the florals, and the compass!

Happy scrapping,

Niki xx
