Frogs & Slingshots

Given that our 'babies' are all now nearly 3 years old, I find it quite amazing that out of a group of 8 NCT mums, 7 of us are still very much in contact and still meet up almost every week. In that group, we have a very cheeky little chappie, called Freddie. He is super cute, accident prone and always getting into mischief and this image by The Doodle Garden called Frogs & Slingshots, was just perfect for him!

Layouts made with 'Lost & Found Record It' papers from march 'Sweet As' Kit

These papers are SUPER glittery - I was absolutely covered after using them, as was the floor and the babies! I love the colour scheme too - the black, silver, brown and black just all goes together really well. Add in the pink glitter Thickers and wow!!

I had to get those glittery chevrons in somehow but I wanted to use the arrows as my background so I compromised with only a small piece of the chevrons - good job too as that design in the full 12x12 is quite dazzling ! I cut a few stars from the same paper for my embellishments and added the brads. I love the pop of pink together with the more muted colours in the brads.

The shapes on the right edge of this paper reminded me of Christmas baubles, even though they aren't actually hanging I don't think, so  I went for another Christmas layout here. Sophie was such a moody fairy on Christmas day and I have written some quite long journaling as if it's from her perspective, in a stroybook style which I think she'll enjoy reading when she's a bit older!

Peek-a-boo!

Fabby sketch this week by Cathy...

and a very cute teddy popping up from a pocket! This card is for Max's girlfriend Mollie who is just about to turn 1 (he's her toy boy as he's not 1 until April). This super cute teddy is by DeeDee Digis, the papers are by My Mind's Eye (I think!) and ribbon and sentiment are by SU. I rotated the sketch to make it work with my image and added a foam '1' but got a little carried away with the bling...!

Start with a Sketch: Into Orbit

When I designed this sketch I had in mind a single (obviously!) feature photo with a bold pattern on one side of the layout. I actually had two photos of this same subject but they were pretty much the same so it was easy to lose one - the second one added no value, so really what was the point of it? I love having just one photo on a layout and I know that isn't to everyone's style, but sometimes there might only be one photo, or that one photo is important enough to warrant a layout all to itself.

My photo was facing the wrong way, so I have flipped the sketch. I chose a very bold pattern for the largest part of the sketch, but I backed the photo with a dark brown which grounds it.

Layouts made with 'Memories Captured' collection from the March 'Sweet As' kit

This 'Memories Captured' collection by Fancy Pants is full of great colours and is a bit retro at the same time. I absolutely fell in love with this camera print:

I had these two cute pictures of Sophie with all of my rings on one of her hands which she was very proudly showing me and I thought that the camera print was perfect for those. I added a strip of black at the top plus some stickers and embellished the rest of the layout by cutting up the journaling card that came in the kit and the Memories Captured stickers. The bright pink Thickers that were in this month's kit didn't really go so I picked out some different ones from my stash.

I also really loved this star paper - I love anything with stars on it these days and it was ideal for some pictures of my little boy and they were taken at dusk so the dark background suited them really well. I had three photos so put them on a vertical design and added some strips to the side together with my title.
