Layouts using My Mind's Eye 'Cut & Paste Flair' papers from October 'Splendour' kit

Wednesday 30 October 2013

I'm in love with the My Mind's Eye Cut & Paste 'Flair' collection. The colours are awesome: pinks, aqua/turquoises and black. I don't often use black in my layouts but I think it works really well in this collection. I'm also not really loving the chalkboard trend that's big at the moment but in this collection it works well without being overpowering - the quotemarks paper is awesome!

I loved the arrows paper so decided to use it as my background. I gutted the turquoise card and mounted the arrows on to it (on the wonk) and clustered my layout over to the left side - I can't take credit for this layout, I've scraplifted this layout but I pinned it to one of my Pinterest boards but there's no info about where it came from originally and I don't seem to be able to get back to the original site I pinned it from so huge apologies if you are the original designer of that layout, that I am unable to credit you :o(

I've added my own Thickers for this layout as I wasn't too sure on the green ones matching and I wanted the title to be bold. I have loads of Thickers in black and hardly ever use them so this was a good opportunity.

My second layout is also scraplifted (this time Shimelle) and I've got in as many of the journaling cards as possible to add in extra patterns. I've also used them to embellish and used the label stickers too. Again I've added my own black Thickers.

Merry Christmas to my Baby Boy

Saturday 26 October 2013

OK, I'm starting my Christmas cards early... (not to mention the 30 general ones I made last week!). I have an excuse, I'm going to Florida for most of December so I need to get myself organised before I go! So, this week I have started on my special Christmas cards - this one is for my new baby boy, Max. He's 6 months old now (OMG where did that go?!) so he definitely won't appreciate my efforts but he might like to chew it - he'll look pretty with glitter all over him.

Anyways, another great sketch this week:

I've used a very cute snowman image by Stamp Fairy who are this week's sponsor. They have a lot of very cute images and they are lovely to colour. This little snowman really appealed to me for Max's card and I've used  some My Mind's Eye papers called 'Tis the Season. I've added a bit of sparkle to the snowman and also added in some glittery stars. I love the fun colours in the papers.

This week's sponsor is Stamp Fairy so head on over and join in the challenge to be in with a chance of winning a fab prize. We also still have our 2000 Followers candy running so enter that too.

Layouts using Fancy Pants 'Trendsetter' papers from the October 'Splendour' kit

Wednesday 23 October 2013

The 'Trendsetter' papers by Fancy Pants contain really fab colours - light aqua and pinks mixed with a really dark blue and some red too. Awesome colour combo!

I got a bit carried away after doing a double layout a couple of weeks ago and have done another one! Again instead of the usual two single layouts I've done a double. I've made up the background using two papers, cutting them up and sticking them back together again in a different order. I've just butted the pieces up against each other and taped them on the back. Ive then reinforced the joins on the front by sticking paper strips over them. I don't always so this so if I have a weak join I might stick a larger piece of scrap paper or card on the back to give it the reinforcement it needs.  I had quite a few photos from this party of Sophie doing lots of different things so I ideally wanted to scrap them all together, hence the double layout. I had an oddball landscape photo to five portrait photos so it worked well to line up the five portraits and ass the landscape on top over to one side. This also gave me a place for my title and some embellishment. My journaling I wrote onto the journaling card that was in the kit and placed in the bottom left corner of the layout.

A Sassy Birthday...

Saturday 19 October 2013

This week we have another great sketch over at Sketch Saturday and our sponsor this week is Sassy Studio, who, as the name suggests have a range of sassy stamps, perfect for my sister in law's birthday given that she's still young and sassy!

It looks a bit like her actually - especially the outfit!  I used some older My Mind's Eye papers called So Sophie, added a few flowers, ribbon, twine and pearls and job done!

So as I mentioned above, Sassy Studios are this week's sponsor and they have a great prize on offer so head on over and join in the challenge. We also still have our 2000 Followers candy running and there are loads of chances to win there too.

Layouts using Basic Grey 'Mint Julep' papers from the October 'Splendour' kit

Wednesday 16 October 2013

The 'Mint Julep' range by Basic Grey is a very pretty one, a bit Cath Kidston perhaps? The florals are lovely and the colours are a pretty mix of pinks, blues, aquas and yellow. There are also loads of die cuts and transparency shapes included with the kit this month also from the Mint Julep range so obviously coordinate well with the papers.

I've used the small floral for the background to this layout with just a hint of another floral at the top there. I've got three photos on here but two are printed at 2x3" and I have a mix of portrait and landscape (for once!). I've embellished with the die cuts and transparencies.

My second layout is of a series of six photos all cropped to about 4x4" and for once I've managed to use up some of the numbers on my Thickers! Notice the deliberate mistake in my title? It's meant to say 'slide' but somehow I transposed the 'l' and the 'i' and came up with 'silde' which obviously makes no sense whatsoever - oops! I didn't even notice as I was photographing it, only as I was typing this post so have run off to correct that little mishap!  The photos take up a very large portion of this layout so most of the embellishment is at the bottom which is also where I've added my title and journaling.
