Merry Christmas to our Fairy Princess

Saturday 30 November 2013

As always - another fab sketch over at Sketch Saturday this week:

I enjoyed doing the white-on-white card so much last week that I thought I'd go for it again this week, only this time with a pop of colour. So this card is for my little girl Sophie. She's 2 and a half and loves all things pink and pretty. She probably won't appreciate the amount of effort that went into this card but I'll make sure I show her when she's older so fingers crossed she appreciates it then!

The white paper in the background and the square in the middle is by Hambly Screen Prints. It's a gorgeous shimmery white paper with a white overlay. It is gorgeous, far to special to use and I've had it for ages so decided to finally use it for a card for my special little girl. I'm pleased I did. I used another of my Martha Stewart punch around the page sets to make the large shape, added punched squares of pink paper, a sentiment and a load of snowflakes. Plus the image, obviously. The image is called Fairy Princess and is by Milk Coffee, who do really cute digi images.

Layouts using 'Say Cheese' papers from November's 'Timeless' kit

Wednesday 27 November 2013

I absolutely LOVE these papers by Simple Stories: the 'Say Cheese' range. They are so much fun and are geared up towards a day out at a theme park perhaps. I am going to Disney in December but don't have any photos yet so I had to do something different with these papers instead.

I've done quite a block-y layout for my first page. The left hand part of the layout is actually a 6x12 panel cut from one of the other patterned papers which made this layout very easy indeed (the whole concept behind Simple Stories clearly works!). I've cut a few more elements from the other papers and have used the chipboard stickers to embellish.

and I had great fun with this layout - such a cute photo of me and Sophie in our 'flippies'. Again a lot of the detail on the layout is pre-printed on the papers which really takes the work out of scrapping (I sort of feel like I'm cheating?).

and here is Kirei's layout using these supplies, check out her blog for more details on how she made it.

Love

Saturday 23 November 2013

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me-ee, happy birthday to me!

He he, had you guessed? Today is my birthday. No presents yet though, I'm getting a Silhouette Cameo but not for a few more weeks. I'm hoping for an array of handmade cards later though as I'm teaching a class today and going out for dinner with friends tonight so a lovely weekend planned.

Anyway, on to this week's Sketch Saturday card. We have another amazing Sketch to work with this week:

and I went white-on-white with a wedding card. I never seem to make white-on-white look anything special but I think I did an ok job with this one. The image is by Bugaboo and is called 'Wedding Glasses'. I've used the Martha Stewart punch around the page punches to create the pretty border, embossed some white paper, added a few white embellishmets, gems and glitter, stamped the word 'love' with an old Stampin Up set and I've pleased with the result. I also added shimmer spritz all over the card for some additional sparkle which doesn't show up well on the photo, but it is lovely.

We are giving money as a wedding present so I've put it in a little shimmery envelope and stamped 'a little something for you' on it to make it look pretty - I don't just do money in cards, it has to be pretty in some way!

This week's sponsor is Bugaboo who have a huge amount of fantastic digi stamps (if I'm ever looking for something particular you can almost guarantee that Bugaboo will have something suitable!) and they are offering a brilliant prize too so make sure you play along with this week's sketch to be in with a chance of winning.

Happy scrapping and may your day be filled with cupcakes xx

Layouts using 'Family is...' papers from November's 'Timeless' kit

Wednesday 20 November 2013

These Bo Bunny 'Family is...' papers are really fun. The colours are bright and the stickers in this month's kit are really funny such as 'My family tree could use a little pruning!'. I don't have a huge family so not all the stickers applied to me and I managed to adapt these papers to holiday photos, so they are quite versatile.

I used the circle print for the background to this layout, I love the mix of blues and greens, perfect for poolside photos. I've kept this layout fairly simple with my four photos anchored to the bottom right corner and have embellished with pieces cut from the patterned papers and stickers from the sticker sheet.

My second layout is a little less bright and I've used the massive camera journaling card (cut from one of the papers) which I didn't think I could make work but I did manage it! Again I've cut a few bits from the papers as well as using stickers from the sticker sheet.

Merry Christmas to Nana & Grandpa

Saturday 16 November 2013

OK, when I had Sophie my mum kept expecting me to make not only a card from me to people but also from her. My card making load effectively doubled overnight! I put my foot down and said no except for a few special people (pretty much only my parents!). Now I have two children and I wonder whether they are expecting separate cards from Sophie AND Max this year. Well if so they are going to be disappointed - this is a join card from both of them to my mum & dad and given the amount of time it has taken me to colour, they had better not complain!

I loved the big area for the image and went for a stamp by Lili of the Valley. I think technically these cute bears are under mistletoe so perhaps this is supposed to be a romantic image? I've given the mistletoe red berries instead of white and I hope to pass it off as holly or something and hope no one notices! I love the cute mice at the bottom too.  Papers are Tis the Season by My Mind's Eye and I've added glitter and glittery snowflakes to finish off.

This week's sponsor is Bunny Zoe's Crafts who are offering a fab prize to head on over to join in the fun!

Layouts using 'Cut & Paste Adorbs' papers from November's 'Timeless' kit

Wednesday 13 November 2013

I'm in love with My Mind's Eye generally but the 'Cut & Paste' range which has four collections within in it is absolutely awesome. This week I have some papers from the 'Adorbs' collection. The colours are sort of pastel but also nice and bright so a slightly strange mix there but I love it, the pastels coupled with the bright pink and navy blue just works so beautifully. In this month's kit we have four of the 'Adorbs' papers together with a roll of coordinating washi tape and a 6x4 journaling card.

I love the subject matter of my first layout - Sophie is obsessed with dollies and pushchairs and whilst on a recent holiday in Lanzarote there happened to be a little pink pushchair in the villa we were staying in - perfect. However she didn't take her dollies for a walk in it, instead she found some brightly coloured plastic cutlery in one of the kitchen drawers which she kept playing with, and took that for a walk instead! I used the floral paper as my background and stretched the journaling card across the layout by cutting it in half and tucking  the two halves behind each side of the photos. I had navy washi tape in my kit and have used that in various places across the layout.

My second layout uses the brighter papers. I've made a journaling card but layering two patterned papers (and cutting the first into a flag shape). I've added strips down the join in the two papers that form the background as well as my washi tape.

and here is Kirei's layout using these supplies, check out her blog for more details on how she made it.
