Kit Release: May Week 5 'Journal'

Wednesday 29 May 2013

This week's kit is absolutely gorgeous! It features some of the My Mind's Eye 'Collectable' collection which is bright and cheerful:
The kit contains:
4 x My Mind's Eye 'Collectable' patterned papers
2 x coordinating cardstock
Green fluffy pom pom trim.

For my first layout I was going to use a nice muted pink paper for the background but it seemed a little dull. I turned it over and initially thought the bright stripes were a but psychedelic for a background but I decided to go for it and I'm super-happy with the result! I used a couple of the journaling cards to the right of the photo and added alphabet stickers from my stash:

My second layout takes layering to a whole new level! I wanted to use as many of the journaling cards as possible so I layered them on top of each other which got a bit complicated with the exact positioning but after several attempts I was happy and finally stuck everything down!

Here is Kirei's layout. She's used the doily paper as the background and the gorgeous muted pink behind her photos. Check out her blog for more details on how she made it.

This week's kit is completely gorgeous! It costs just £6.10 and can be purchased HERE.

Happy scrapping!

To the Moon!

Saturday 25 May 2013

Morning all

We have the most amazing sketch for you this week over at Sketch Saturday:

Now don't let the star put you off, it could be any shape in the background for example, a large heart, hexagon, tag or label shape etc. I loved this sketch because it made me think outside the box a little bit. At first I was going to use my newly purchased hexagon Nestabilities but then I ended up having to make a card for a little boy and I found the perfect space image so the stars were completely appropriate!

The image is called Love You to the Moon and Back and is by Wings and Willows , who have loads of fab images in their store. I printed the image twice, once so I could cut it out into a star shape and the second time so I could cut out the space ship and the moon to layer on top. I love how it turned out.

This week's Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Wings and Willows who are offering a prize so make sure you pop over to the blog and join in to be in with a chance of winning!

Kit Release: May Week 4 'Playful'

Wednesday 22 May 2013

Similarly to May Week 2 Kit this week's kit features papers from three different paper ranges but that all compliment each other well:
The kit contains:
1 x Studio Calico paper
1 x Echo Park 'Hello Summer' paper
1 x My Mind's Eye 'The Sweetest Thing' paper
2 x coordinating cardstock
a few Prima paper butterflies and one Prima flower (colours may vary)

I loved the blue paper so used this as my background but also wanted to show off the bikes so I used quite a large portion of it as part of the background. I messy mounted a 4x4 square photo onto the caramel cardstock and added alphabet stickers from my stash.

My second layout is actually my favourite of the two I came up with this week, mainly because of the subject matter! What a little monkey, she had every tissue out of the box and I think wiped her nose with every one! I added red alphabet stickers from my stash.

And here is Kirei's layout, a nice clean male layout - check out her blog for more details on how she made it.
This week's kit costs £4.55 and can be purchased HERE and check out the details for how to get a better deal if you subscribe.

Happy scrapping!

Life begins at 40!

Saturday 18 May 2013

Morning all!  We have another fab sketch for you this week over at Sketch Saturday:
My husband asked me to make a birthday card for a work colleague: my brief was that it was his 40th birthday and he likes football and golf. Not a huge amount to go on so here is what I came up with:
I printed the sentiment on my pc and used bakers twine and washi tape to embellish the card. I made the three little golf balls by embossing white cardstock with swiss dots and colouring them with a grey copic. The image is by Stitchy Bears.

This weeks Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Bunny Zoe's Crafts and they are offering a fab prize to this week's winner so head on over to join in to be in with a chance of winning!

Kit Release: May Week 3 'Indigo Inspiration'

Wednesday 15 May 2013

This week's kit features some of the awesome papers in the American Crafts Amy Tangerine range 'Sketchbook'. I love this collection, the papers are so bright and fun:
The kit contains:
3 x Sketchbook patterned papers
2 x coordinating cardstock
1 x Sketchbook layered tag (designs may vary)

I decided I wanted to use the indigo frame as my background but sometimes I find it a challenge to work within a frame as it reduces my scrapping space substantially - especially this frame as it is quite wide, so I chopped it up, swapped it around a bit and stuck it on the green cardstock just to be a bit different and came up with quite an interesting layout:

My second layout was more difficult as I'd used most of the papers in the first layout but I noticed how I had the same pattern on two different papers, just in different colours so I tried to give my layout the effect that the background had changed colours across the middle - I think it's quite cool! Other than that I just added a few more bits of leftover papers and a title using alphabet stickers from my stash.

Here is Kirei's layout. She's used the grid paper as her background which I actually didn't use at all and added alphabet stickers from her stash. Check out her blog for more details on how she made it.

This week's kit can be purchased HERE and costs just £5.15.
Happy scrapping!
