Kirei's layout with the Feb Week 4 Kit 'Low Key'

Friday 24 February 2012

Hi Everyone!

When I looked at this week's Kit I knew exactly what photos I wanted to use! They have been on my 'to scrap' list for some time so was happy to finally get to use them. I wanted to get 3 x photos on to my layout so I kept my design pretty simple.

I used the navy spotted side of the 'Cider' paper for my base, then centrally layered an 11" square of the mustard floral side of the 'Low Key' paper over it. Don't forget to gut your papers beforehand! I topped both of these with a 10" square of the cream Bazzill. I cropped the photos down to a size that worked and then mounted each of them on a piece of the navy spot paper before attaching to the cream Bazzill.

All that was left to do was add some embellishments... I punched 3 strips of the patterned papers with a border punch (similar available here) and attached these along the bottom of the cream square. I then used some of the Glitz Epoxy Words to decorate over the top punched strip. I used some of fab Glitz Teeny Alphas from a previous Kit (I have loads left over!) to include the date.

Finally I added a title using letters from my own stash, and then added one of the buttons (tied with a piece of linen thread) next to the title.

This Kit is available for a limited time from the Pages of Memories Online Store. Make sure you have a look here to see what Niki did with the Kit!

Thanks for looking!

Niki's Page using February 4 kit 'Low Key'

Thursday 23 February 2012

Hi Everyone

Here is my page using the 'Low Key' kit that was released yesterday:

I've had this fabulous picture since the summer but hadn't managed to find any papers that would do it justice until now...this kit was perfect!

Even though I wanted to keep the layout quite simple, I wanted to show off some of the lovely patterned papers so make the patchwork strip along the top finished off with a strip cut with a Martha Stewart border punch (called Cherish)

The Epoxy stickers and flowers cut with the Martha Stewart large Chrysanthemum punch finished off the page really nicely and complimented the picture.  The buttons fitted nicely within the punched flowers...

The vanilla background was a little plain so I stamped the corner in yellow ink using a Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz stamp and then cut a title from the leftover patterned paper using my Cricut machine.

I love the simplicity of this page - what will you make with this kit?

Check back tomorrow to see Kirei's page

Kirei's layout using the February Week 3 Kit 'Divine'

Friday 17 February 2012

Hi Everyone!

Can't believe it is over halfway through February already! This week's Kit included the fab 'Summers End' papers from Fancy Pants. I had some really cute pics of my friends little boy Joe to use that were taken last month at 'Big Space' soft play near Harpenden. He loved the playhouse and as you can see decided the window was a good enough exit for him!

I used the striped side of the 'Cider' paper for my base, I gutted a section of this before adding a 9 3/4" Kraft Bazzill square (I used a corner punch to round each corner). I then layered a piece of 9 1/2" rust coloured Bazzill over this (also corner punched). Onto this I mounted 3 x strips of the patterned papers, the first strip is 3" x 9 1/4" from the tree side of the 'Divine' paper and I cut it ensuring that I kept some of the swirls from the top left corner. The second strip is 2 3/4" x 9 1/4" from the rust side of the 'Divine' paper and the final strip is 3 1/4" x 9 1/4" from the green side of the 'Oak' paper.

I then decorated my tag by firstly attaching a piece of rust 'Divine' paper, onto which I embellished it with some of the ribbons from the Kit and a strip of rust Bazzill that I had punched out with a border punch. With the kraft coloured ribbon I made ruffles and stapled them down to hold them in place. This was then attached to the bottom left of the central square. I repeated the ruffled ribbon and punched border at the top right and bottom right of the central square. I then attached my photos. I used 3 x photos but you could adapt this to include only 2 or even just one larger photo. I used a photo corner punch to punch out some corners from the rust Bazzill and attached one of these to each photo.

Finally I used the cute Prima letters that came with the Kit to create my title.

This Kit is available from the Pages of Memories Online Store for a limited time. Here you also will find the details of the monthly Kit subscription that offers great value for money!

Niki's Page using February 3 kit 'Divine'

Thursday 16 February 2012

Hi All

So I'm a big fan of the 'Divine' kit released yesterday, it just has such a gorgeous colour combo and allowed me to something really fun with it:

Sophie had some absolutely gorgeous Ugg style boots for Christmas and you have never seen something so cute as baby Ugg boots! I knew I had to take a picture of them next to my boots for size comparison and once printed they begged a scrapbook page!

The colours in this kit were perfect with the exception of the blue but even so I think it works well even though there was no blue in my pictures.

I stamped a map image on my manilla tag and tucked this down behind my photos. The tag would be ideal for some hidden journalling if you wanted to include some.

I made a couple of circle embellishments using various sized circle punches and I tied knots in my trims and used them to finish off those embellishments.

Finally I added lots of strips at the bottom of the page (the aim was them to look a bit like steps...?) using trims and small strips of the left over patterned papers.

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by. If you would like to buy this kit it costs £7 and can be purchased here.

Check back tomorrow to see what Kirei has done with this kit xx

Kirei's Layout using the February Week 2 Kit 'Window View'

Friday 10 February 2012

Hi Everyone!

This week's kit included the lovely Pixie Glen papers by Prima, Bazzill cardstock, Prima chipboard and some pretty ribbons.

After playing around with the pics that I wanted to use I decided to use the pastel checked side of the 'Rose Arbour' paper as my base. I punched two 12" strips of the pink Bazzill with a border punch, I used a Martha Stewart one but you could use any that you have. I then cut a 7.5" x 12" piece of the floral side of the 'Window View' paper. Before I attached this I gutted a piece of the 'Rose Arbour' paper from behind where the central panel would go. I attached the pink Bazzill border punch strips to the long side of the 'Window View' paper and then attached this to the base paper. From the piece of 'Rose Arbour' that I gutted I cut two 7.5" x1.5" strips that I tucked under the top and bottom of the central panel. I mounted my main 6" x 4" photo on to a piece of the pink Bazzill and then attached this and two 3" x 4" photos to the central panel.

Then I attached the embellishments to the bottom left of the main photo... I cut the roses/umbrella corner piece from the 'Window View' paper, punched some butterflies with a Martha Stewart punch out of the pretty Prima papers and then layered them up. I finished it off with a few Prima flowers, a button and some twine from my own stash.

I did the same to the top right corner of the photo...

And then finished off the embellishments by sticking a few butterflies to the bottom right of the layout.

Finally I finished off with a title made with a Prima alphabet from one of the earlier Kits (they really do go a long way!).

This Kit will be available for a limited time from Pages of Memories here...

Niki's layout using February 2 Kit 'Window View'

Thursday 9 February 2012

Hi All

Here is my layout using the gorgeous 'Window View' kit released yesterday:

Yep, another picture of my little one! (She'll hate me for this when she's older!)

Because I decided to use one of the framed papers as my background, space was a bit limited on the page but I wanted to use as many of the patterns as possible so put together those small squares on the right which did the job perfectly.

I also wanted to keep the clock on the top right so carefully cut round it with a craft knife and tucked my layout underneath it.

I added some faux stitching around each of the squares to give the effect they had been sewn together (you could get the same effect with a pen) and added one of the chipboard stickers and some lace (to the bottom right square - you can hardly see it in the picture but it is there!)

I then created a cluster of embellishments in the bottom right corner using the remaining trims and some more of the chipboard stickers.  The trims are held in place with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher  stapler which always seems to come in very handy!

Lastly I added a title using leftover alphabet stickers from a previous kit (Garden Gate).

Overall I was quite pleased with it. I chose to focus on the pinks in the kit but you could just as easily focus on the blues for a different effect altogether!

Thanks for looking xx

Kirei's Layout using the Feb Week 1 Kit 'Dream'

Friday 3 February 2012

Hi Everyone,

This first kit for February is yummy! Lovely glittered papers in chocolate browns, teal and soft greens from the fab My Minds Eye 'Lost & Found 2' range. They were perfect for scrapping some of my sister's wedding pics and so nice that I got 2 x layouts done! I kept them pretty simple because the papers were so detailed I didn't want to lose any of that.

For my first layout I used the 'Dream' paper for my base. I then decided where I was going to place my 6" x 4" photo which was mounted onto the chocolate and teal Bazzill. I wanted to use a piece of the 'Dream' paper on my other layout so gutted a piece from behind where the photo would be going (being careful to leave enough for the photo to attach to!).

Once I had the photo attached I added my embellishments... at the bottom of the photo I layered some strips of Martha Stewart border punched chocolate Bazzill with some cream lace and pretty teal rose ribbon (both of these were from my stash).

I used a Martha Stewart heart punch to punch hearts from the chocolate Bazzill and a piece of the gutted 'Dream' paper and added those to the bottom left corner and top right corner of the photo. To these I added a few Prima flowers (similar available here), finished off with some buttons tied with cream thread (all from my stash).

Then it was just a title that was needed and for this I used the lovely Prima Alphabet Stickers that come with the Kit.

For my second layout I used the 'Everywhere' paper for my base (the glittered side of course!).

I wanted to feature the butterflies so decided to cut around the large brown one (on the left side of the paper) and the medium green one in the top right of the paper. You will need a sharp knife for this, make sure you only cut around the wings as you want them to stay attached to the paper! I took 2 x small pieces of the 'Dream' paper that I gutted from the first layout. With the houndstooth side up I stuck these on the otherside of the paper underneath each of the cut butterflies (make sure you don't get any glue on the open areas as the wings will not sit up).

Again the 6" x 4" photo was mounted onto the chocolate and teal Bazzill. I layered some strips of Martha Stewart border punched chocolate Bazzill at the bottom of the photo, and added a few Prima flowers from my stash (similar available here) to the bottom left corner and top right corner of the photo. Don't forget to finish them off with a button tied with cream thread (both from my stash).

I punched 3 x butterflies using the Martha Stewart punch from the piece of gutted 'Dream' paper and attached them to my layout.

Finally I used the Prima alphabet to create my title and I was finished!

This fab Kit is available at the Pages of Memories Online Store.

Niki's Layout using February 1 Kit 'Dream'

Thursday 2 February 2012

Hi Everyone

Here is my layout using the gorgeous 'Dream' kit released yesterday:

Now these papers were a bit of a challenge to use as they had so may gorgeous patterns on them I didn't want to cover them up!  I had to do some very careful cutting!

I cut the brown flourishes from the other paper and stuck those on.

I also cut out the butterfly and the glittered motif from the other paper and made a feature of them:

and I carefully cut round the 'Correspondence' flag and circle so I could slip my background paper underneath it, whilst keeping it as an embellishment:

This kit (with full instructions on how to create this layout) is available to purchase here and costs £7.
We're exhibiting at the Hobby Crafts show at Bluewater today so pop by and say hello if you are there!
